- #7 Previous Software (Previous, I mean, is the previous before the mobile internet and Social Network Services) in Previous Software Industry, the Keywords are "Efficiency, Accuracy, Productivity" of existing biz process, existing activities. that means software is a tool to increase the values already existing. In other words, As we, software engineers, In the point of making the software, it's like building construction business. so, the goal for managing software team is to reducing the cost, and to be sad, the main cost here is the "labor cost". In Previous software industry, the fundamental business nature is to exchange the developer's time with money. the value of software is defined by the time to develop the software. Though I said its yesterday, these types of software will go on as the primary industries 1차 산업 goes.
- #9 As you know, Smarphone app is the key driver for new software industry today. But actually, the driving force is not the app itself, but the service behind it.
- #10 One good example is social networks service. SNS is the biggest / the most influencing software these days. We have noticed SNS changed the world. Facebook, twitter is the biggest and LinkedIn, Instagram is some mix of social network and other personal information Such as one’s professional career, photos and location.
- #12 We are all using messengers.. In Korea, smartphone market was boosted by KaKao Talk. Just 3 years ago, people began to buy smartphones to use Kakao talk, Not using Kakao talk because they have Smartphone. Now, 80% of smartphone users are sending al least one message a day Its traffic is enormous. Why have people quickly moved from SMS to smartphone messengers? Is it faster ? Is it cheaper? The answer is No.. It’s because it give people a lot better communication experiences. By sending emoticon (or emoji), and small gift.

- #19 As the high performing computing power and storage are available in cheap price. Voice recognition, autonomous robotics, machine learning, big data analysis is quite affordable. And the machine is competing with human intelligence now. Most recently, we have new word ‘Fin-Tech’ Apple-pay, google wallet, and bit-coin, and any other easy payment service is called Fin tech. The most interesting application of Fin-tech is Money sales, I mean Loan. Banks calculated someone’s credit rating to decide how much, and what interest rate to offer, The decision is based on the data generated by the person and the people around him or her, By comparing the standard profile built by BIG data analysis.
- #21 What those software are for ? It’s all about people. Normal People, Young and old, lonely, Rich guy and the poor. The new software pursue a NEW value among the user. Not the existing process. In the new industry, The valule of software is defined 예전엔 얼마나 빨라졌나, 얼마나 싸졌나 하는 것이었는데, 지금 소프트웨어의 가치는 사람 사이의 일이기 때문에 측정 가능하지 않은 가치들이 있습니다.
- #22 Those are the companies very successful in the new software era. Some of old style companies also moving quickly to left hand side or change themselves somewhat like software company. (some are successful and some are not)

- #26 I found two eye catching photo of Hong Kong buildings. One is very beautiful forest of business buildings and the other is well organized tall apartment. Architect designs the space which will be used by people to reside or visit. Architect does not deliver the building, he or she deliver dream to his client, the owner of the building. (and the beauty, and convenience is additional value) In the new software industry, Software Engineer does deliver (unprecedented) new values, totally human value. The values include sympathy, vicarious satisfaction . All about Human. So, Software Engineers also have to care the detail deliver the value.
- #27 But it’s not easy. There are so many things to consider. For example, we have many games for smartphone. The percentage of Market successful game is less than 1%. To success, the game should be. …. We have to care the story, design, sound, user interface, speed and finally battery life.
- #28 Software is a something like magic wand to changes the mix of story, design, business idea, science, and math into some important value. It involves plan, scenario, and UI/UX design.
- #30 The total time to spend can be broken down like this. Half of the time should be given to thought on human. 25% mathematical design to get correct solution to deliver the value. The technical design is the software engineering part. I mean the process. Only small fraction of time is given to coding. Coding is just a labor. Interesting labor, but design and thinking is much more valuable.
