Paul stresses "doing what is good" in Titus 3 because God's kindness and love for humanity leads us to repentance. God saves and renews people through the Holy Spirit so His people can spend their lives doing good works. Paul urges Titus to remind believers to live in a way that is not slanderous or quarrelsome, but kind, showing humility and gentleness toward all.

Joe and Ellen Kunkle have been missionaries in Bolivia since 1968. They did evangelism and church planting among the Guarayo Indians from 1970 to 1987, and then helped pioneer work in Paraguay from 1987 to 2004. Currently, they are based in Bolivia's Ballivian Province, assisting isolated churches by providing theological training, Christian education materials, preaching, and workshops. Over their 40 years of missionary work, their focus has been on evangelism, church planting, and nurturing churches and their leaders.

It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375

4. Sermon Notes
Discipline of Sacrifice
Praise Father God for offering His Son as an atoning sacrifice for His fallen
Creation. Thank Jesus for the willing sacrifice of Himself as Savior, motivated
by love for all. Honor the Holy Spirit for leading us Christ-followers in
demonstrations of sacrificial love for God and neighbors.
Thank the Lord for inspiration and fellowship in last week’s Annual
Conference meetings and services. Praise God for last Wednesday’s
ordination service in which Rev. Chris Neilson was installed as Conference
Superintendent, 6 leaders were ordained to Christian ministry and 10
(including our own Pastor Andrew Anderson) were licensed to preach. Pray
for 4 new churches being planted this year in Albany, Bend, Salem and
Seattle.
Thank the Lord for last week’s Summer Blast Day Camp, in which 16 children
experienced a week of PrayKids learning and growth, led by our Summer
Ministries Team.
Pray for our OCEC family as we pursue spiritual and physical health during
our Summer in God’s Gym (Gaining Your Momentum).
Pray for today’s 11:15am Fellowship Center discussions with Pastor Tom
concerning worship, service and Sabbath-keeping. Pray for God’s wisdom
and blessing in plans for our coming August 23 Love In Action Sunday.
Pray for President Obama and the US Congress, particularly as they grapple
with health care questions and issues.
Ask God’s protection and provision for those vulnerable to harm from extreme
temperatures this summer.
Pray for Dee Wanvig along with other members and friends of our church
family who are suffering from chronic illnesses. Pray for those recovering
from recent surgeries. And pray for those under hospice care and for those
who have recently suffered the death of loved ones.
