New Delhi: Does dy-
nastic rule for the
Bharatiya Janata Par-
ty only means the Gan-
dhi family and the Mu-
layam Singh Yadav
family? Priyanka Gan-
dhi Vadra has said that
for the BJP, dynasty
means only her family.
The BJP itself is pro-
moting several family
members.
In the special context
of Uttar Pradesh, Mu-
layam Singh Yadav’s
family is also on target
because the BJP is fac-
ing real competition
from Samajwadi Party.
That’s why right from
Prime Minister Naren-
dra Modi to BJP leaders
are constantly target-
ing the SP.
The Prime Minister
had said without nam-
ing that more than 40
members of a family
were in one or the other
post. He has continu-
ously appealed to defeat
the dynasts and mafias.
Maneka and Varun
Gandhi are facing col-
lateral damage for cam-
paigning by targeting
the Gandhi family
. Both
are BJP MPs but this
time BJP did not in-
clude them in the cam-
paign. Prime Minister
Modi removed Maneka
from the cabinet and
did not give place to
Varun. Even both of
them did not get a place
in the national execu-
tive of the party. Con-
gress leaders believe
that Maneka and Varun
Gandhi have been treat-
ed like this because the
prime minister was to
launch a massive attack
on the dynasts in the Ut-
tar Pradesh elections
and the BJP had to con-
test on this issue. Both
Maneka and Varun
Gandhi understand this
and after March 10 they
will also decide the fu-
ture strategy
.

Negative political ideology: PM Modi slams Oppn
Whenever some challenges crop up before the nation, these dynasts look for their political interests, PM said during a rally in Varanasi
Varanasi (ANI):
Prime Minister Naren-
dra Modi on Saturday
came down heavily on
the Opposition for po-
liticising the Ukraine
crisis, saying that “dy-
nasts always look for
opportunities to serve
their self-interests”.
“Blind opposition,
continuous opposition,
acute frustration, and
negativity have be-
come their political
ideology,” PM Modi
said in his sharp attack
on the Opposition.
PM Modi while cam-
paigning for the last
phase of Assembly
elections said that the
Opposition parties
look for political inter-
ests even when the na-
tion faces challenges,
making the situation
even more critical.
His statement came
amidst India stepping
up the evacuation of
the stranded Indian na-
tionals under ‘Opera-
tion Ganga’.
Addressing an elec-
tion rally in his Parlia-
mentary constituency
Varanasi, the Prime
Minister said, “When-
ever some challenges
crop up before the na-
tion, these dynasts look
for their political inter-
ests. If India’s security
forces and people deal
with a crisis, the Oppo-
sition parties do every-
thing to make the situa-
tion more critical. We
saw this during the pan-
demic and today during
the Ukraine crisis.”
The Opposition,
mainly Congress, has
been slamming the
Centre over ‘Operation
Ganga’, alleging late
reaction in the evacua-
tion of Indians.
Earlierintheday

gress leader Rahul Gan-
dhi slammed the Centre,
citing a media report
claiming that students

“Those who live in

state elections ending

slipped in a dig at the
government two days
before the final voting
day, advising people to

price hike was looming.
"Quickly fill up your

With international
oil prices soaring past
$100 a barrel, petrol and
diesel prices - locked by
state-run oil companies
because of the elections
- are likely to be hiked
after polls get over next
week.
International crude
oil prices have shot
above $110 a barrel for
the first time since mid-
2014 on fears that oil
and gas supplies from
energy giant Russia
could be disrupted, ei-
ther by the conflict in
Ukraine or retaliatory
western sanctions.
The basket of crude
oil India buys rose
above $102 per barrel on
March 1, the highest
since August 2014, ac-
cording to information
from the Petroleum
Planning and Analysis
Cell (PPAC) of the oil
ministry, media report-
ed earlier this week.
The average price per
barrel of the same
crude was $81.5 when
petrol and diesel prices
were locked in in early
November last year.
"With state elections
getting over next week,
we expect daily fuel
price hikes to restart
across both gasoline
and diesel," investment
banking company JP
Morgan said in a report.
The seventh and final
phase of polling for the
Uttar Pradesh legisla-
tive assembly is on

ing of votes is slated for

Elect those who have values

Jaunpur (ANI): Un-

Amit Shah urged the
voters in this Uttar

Saturday to elect can-

“values of service” in
their DNA.
He also asserted
that one or two gang-
sters, who are still out
of jail, will be put be-
hind bars once the
BJP returns to power
in the state on March
10, when the results of
the ongoing Uttar

polls are declared.
Addressing a poll
meeting in the Mal-

said, “Do not make

make such a candi-
date win who has the
values of service in

does not want to

He said in the run-
up to the 2017 state As-
sembly polls, the BJP
had promised that Ut-
tar Pradesh will be
freed of the mafia in
five years.
“Today, Atiq

LEADERS AHEAD OF DELHI CIVIC POLLS
New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi held an important
meeting with senior state Congress leaders regarding the
upcoming Delhi Municipal Corporation elections on Saturday.
Addressing reporters on Saturday after the meeting, Delhi
Congress in-charge Shakti Singh Gohil said that in the upcoming
corporation elections, Congress will give tickets to the deserving
candidates in a transparent manner. “Rahul Gandhi instructed
the leaders to fight the corporation elections unitedly,” he said.
Gohil also informed that he along with state chief Anil Chaudhary
will hold meetings every week with former state presidents like
Ajay Maken, JP Agarwal, Arvinder Singh Lovely and Subhash
Chopra. The dates for the Municipal Corporation elections will be
announced within a few weeks. The last time Congress won the
civic elections was about 20 years ago in 2002.

hat is the zeitgeist- the spirit
of the age? All I can say is
that I sorely miss it.
Before I come to the war in
Ukraine and its horror, I will
refer to a stunningly moving
act of one of our students in
Ukraine, 21 year old Rishab
Kaushik from Dehradun, re-
fused to leave Ukraine or get
into the Indian Air Force res-
cue plane unless he was al-
lowed to take his pet dog
Maliboo with him.
Finally Rishab and Malibo
reached Gaziabad on Febru-
ary 27.
For the past few days, I
have been recalling what the
Swedish Count Axel Gustaf-
son Oxenstierna (1583-1654)
said, “Know, my son, with
how little wisdom the World
is governed.”
“The United Nations was
founded in 1945. At the open-
ing, the Secretary of State of

was an absolute condition for
the United States’s participa-
tion in the United Nations.
The Super Powers (U.S.A,
U.K, U.S.S.R, France and Chi-
na) would not be subject to
any co-ercion. The Veto in-
sured that General Assembly
or the Security Council could
not act against any of the five
permanent members.”
The greatest democracy in
the World ensured the Secu-
rity Council would be a law
unto itself. It would not be a
democratic establishment.
In the Security Council
meeting earlier in the week,
Russia vetoed the resolution
that condemned Russia for
“invading” Ukraine. India
rightly abstained. It also did
so in subsequent meetings.
The 20,000 Indians mainly
students had a rough time
while getting out of Ukraine.
Very many had to walk twen-
ty miles in freezing cold to
reach a railway station. Cha-
os prevailed there. Hundreds
were prevented from enter-
ing the compartments. Stu-
dents from Pakistan, China
and the Philippines had the
same experience.
East European countries

wards racism. But racism was
evident in several places, par-
ticularlyatstationsinUkraine.

Dear Haksar Saheb,
I was hesitated to write or to speak. Some things are too
deep for words or it may be that I am not enough of a writer
to find the right words. I have no new or better phrases to tell
you what so many have been repeating- much to your annoy-
ance- all these days and even months, whenever the question
of your leaving us has arisen.
During a period which has spanned so many crises, you
have stood like a rock. Your wise guidance has been invalu-
able in helping us to negotiate the obstacles and steer clear
of the many pitfalls endangering our onward journey, and
even our survival.
There is perhaps no dearth of worthy, intelligent, even sin-
cere or conscientious persons. But the need if for something
over and above that- as you yourself are well- aware. These
qualities can be useful only, if they are combined with a depth
of judgement, which is based on long experience of men,
especially in government, and affairs of India as well as the
world; on an insight into tends and forces. There can be no
doubt that your retirement will greatly diminish the efficacy of
the PM’s Sectt and will be a great loss to me.
At this stage, I can only say thank you for all your help and
wish you better health in the years to come.
With every good wish
Yours Sincerely

New Delhi: The Gov-
ernment of India had
set a huge target of
earning through disin-
vestment in the finan-
cial year 2021-22. Pre-
senting the budget in
2021, Finance Minister
Nirmala Sitharaman
had said that 1.75 lakh
crore rupees will be
raised by selling gov-
ernment companies. A
year after that, when
she presented the budg-
et for 2022, it came to
light that the govern-
ment was able to raise
only 12-13 thousand
crores by selling its
companies. So, in the
revised estimate of the
budget, it has been said
that the government
will earn Rs 78 thou-
sand crore by selling its
companies.
This estimate of the
government is based on
the fact that five per-
cent stake will be sold
by bringing IPO of Life
Insurance Corporation
of India ie LIC, which
can earn 70-80 thousand
crore rupees or more. If
that happens, the gov-
ernment will earn more
in the Revised Esti-
mates and give itself a
pat on the back. How-
ever, there seem to be
several obstacles in this
approach, but the gov-
ernment is also bracing
itself to sell it off, in
any case.
That’s why the stock
market in India is show-
ing a boom even in the
midst of Ukraine’s at-
tack. If markets around
the world fell, there was
a historic fall in India
too. In one day the index
fell by 27 hundred
points and investors
lost thirteen and a half
lakh crores rupees. But
the very next day i.e. on
Friday, the market went
upby13hundredpoints.
The stock market is so
sensitive, yet it is going
up in the middle of the
war, so it means that
some external force
wants it to be so and
thus it is happening.
The Government of In-
dia does not want that
there should be nega-
tive sentiment in the
stock market and inves-
tors should stay away
from it. Therefore, it is
being believed that no
matter how much the
war lasts, but the Indi-
an stock market will
remain bullish.
Concerned about its
earnings from LIC, the
government took an-
other big decision on
Saturday. The govern-
ment has allowed for-
eign direct investment
up to 20 percent in LIC.
For this, the govern-
ment changed the spe-
cial law of LIC. After
this change, foreign in-
vestors will be able to
invest up to 20 percent
in LIC through the auto-
matic route. In fact, the
government is worried
that if domestic inves-
tors do not invest more,
then the target of earn-
ing will remain incom-
plete. Therefore, exemp-
tion has been given to
foreign investors. In the
insurance sector, 74 per-
cent FDI is allowed, but
LIC’s law is different
from the insurance law
and FDI was not al-
lowed in it till now, a
‘hurdle’ which the gov-
ernment has done away
with now.
To boost its earning, Govt has tinkered with LIC law

Non-BJP events have
denounced the adjust-

the adjustments “give

tained every thing
achieved for its politi-
cal comfort”, whereas
Congress chief spokes-
person Ravinder Shar-
ma mentioned “the De-

The suggestion to not
reserve Poonch Haveli
for STs adopted wide-
spread protests within
the constituency
, which
is basically inhabited
by individuals of Kash-
miri origin, at such a
change. The constitu-
ency’s inhabitants com-
prised 36.60% tribals.
To shift the ST standing
to Rajouri — regardless
of solely 33.84% of its
inhabitantsbeingtribal
— the panel has now
steered including
Fatehpur, Doongi and

take Rajouri’s tribal
numbers to 37.18% of
the inhabitants. Thana-

New Delhi: A special
CBI court in Delhi has
dismissed the anticipa-
tory bail plea of Chita
Ramkrishna, the former
managing director and
the CEO of the National
Stock Exchange in con-
nection with the NSE co-
location case. The CBI
has already arrested
Anand Subramanian,
NSE’s former group op-
erating officer, who had
served as Ramkrishna’s

the co-location case.
Chitra and Anand hit
the headlines after
SEBI, in an order on
February 11 charged
Chitra with alleged gov-
ernance lapses in the
appointment of Subra-
manian as the chief
strategic advisor and
his re-designation as
group operating officer
and advisor to MD.
SEBI levied a fine of Rs
3 crore on Ramkrishna,
Rs 2 crore each on NSE,
Subramanian, former
NSE MD and CEO Ravi
Narain, and Rs 6 lakh
on VR Narasimhan,
who was the chief regu-
latory officer and com-
pliance officer.
The CBI, which was
probing the co-location
scam since 2018, swung
into action after the
SEBI report that
showed alleged abuse
of power by the then top
brass of the NSE.
Ramkrishna said she
was steered by a Hima-
layan yogi in the ap-
pointment of Anand
Subramanian. While
CBI claimed Anand
Subramanian himself
was the Himalayan
yogi, SEBI contradicted
the claim.
Earlier, the Securi-

has penalized the Na-
tional Stock Exchange
(NSE) and its former
CEOs Chitra Ram-
akrishna and Ravi

officials for lapses in

As the Russia-Ukraine battle entered its second week, the world witnessing anxious
moments as the conflict is badly affecting other countries too and India is not an
exception. India’s economy and its five five sectors have neen hit by this war in far off
countries. Russian military action on Ukraine has had a negative impact on equity
markets while leading to a surge in crude oil, base metal, and agricultural commodities.
With an escalating invasion by Russia in Ukrainian territories, sanctions that were imposed by the West
on Russia, have disrupted global supply chains. The ongoing Russia-Ukraine crisis will impact the core
sectors of the Indian economy. As the Indian Rupee also witness depreciation against US Dollars, India is
likely to witness a surge in prices of products in the coming days.
The prices of base metals are likely to move higher
amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine crisis. Navneet Damani,
senior vice president - commodity currency research at Mo-
tilal Oswal Financial Services was quoted by media: “The latest trig-
gers come from Ukraine – Russian geopolitical tensions which have led
to sharp volatility in most asset classes. Before this Russia-Ukraine crisis
escalated, select metals were already seeing very strong fundamentals and
there are possibilities of the United States and its European allies to announce
fresh sanctions against Russia. Aluminum has added over 40 per cent gains in
2021 and added 20 per cent gains in 2022,” The Russia-Ukraine military conflict
may have an implication on the country’s trade in that region as it would affect
the movement of consignments, payments and oil prices, according to export-
ers. The Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) said they have asked
exporters to hold their consignments to the region or goods that take the
Black Sea route. To Russia, Ukraine and other eastern Eu-
ropean countries, goods move from the Suez
Canal and the Black Sea, FIEO Director-
General Ajay Sahai said. He added that
the quantity of impact on trade
will depend on the duration of
the war.
Ukraine and Russia are the major suppliers
of sunflower oil. Between November 2020
and October 2021, India imported a total of
18.93 lakh tonnes of crude sunflower oil,
of this Ukraine exported 13.97 lakh tonnes
and Russia exported 2.22 lakh tonnes of
sunflower oil to India. With the ongo-
ing Russia-Ukraine crisis, the demand
and supply chain of sunflower oil has
been impacted. As a result, edible
oil companies are now looking at
options to import edible oil from
other countries. They are also
proposing the usage of other
cooking oils such as palm
oil and groundnut oil so
that the retail prices do
not increase.
EDIBLE
OIL The Russia-Ukraine region is one of the major
exporters for some of the key agricultural products
globally. At No. 4 position in wheat exports, after
EU, Russia and Australia (26 mt), is Ukraine, at 24 mt.
Ukraine, moreover, is the world’s third largest exporter of
corn/maize, with a projected 33.5 mt in 2021-22, after the
US (61.5 mt) and Argentina (42 mt). Ukraine and Russia
are also the top two exporters of sunflower oil, at 6.65
mt and 3.8 mt, respectively in 2021-22, as per USDA.
If that weren’t all, Russia and its next-door ally Belarus
are the world’s No. 2 and No. 3 producers of muriate of
potash (MOP) fertiliser, at 13.8 mt and 12.2 mt in 2020,
respectively, behind Canada (22 mt). The European
Union has already warned that the impact of the
Russia-Ukraine war will be painful for the
agri-food sector.
AGRICULTURE
Ukraine
and Russia
are amongst the
major chip exporters
globally. According to a re-
port by Moody Analytics, while
Russia supplies the semiconduc-
tor industry with important metals
such as palladium, Ukraine supplies
special gases such as Neon and
Helium which are required for chip
making. As the ongoing war between
Russia-Ukraine escalates, the semi-
conductor industry is going to bear
a massive brunt, with chip-dependent
sectors such as the automobile and
the IT sectors getting hit badly. Even
before the crisis, the world was fac-
ing a semiconductor shortage. Ac-
cording to the report, amid the ongo-
ing Russian-Ukraine crisis, the prices
for neon gas have surged 10 times,
which will potentially impact the
manufacturing of automobiles in the
Asia-Pacific region.
BASE METALS
Russia is the third-largest exporter of
crude oil globally. With the Russian inva-
sion of Ukraine, the crude oil prices soared to a
seven-year high of $110 per barrel. On Wednesday,
the Brent crude oil benchmark was trading at $110.23
per barrel. Several sectors are crude-oil dependent.
These include paint makers, oil makers, and fertilizer
companies. India imports 85 per cent of its oil require-
ments. The Economic Survey 2022 estimated India’s Gross
Domestic Product (GDP) growth rate at 8.0 to 8.5 per cent
in 2022-23, which hinges on crude oil prices being in the
range of $70-$75 a barrel. With crude oil crossing $100
per mark, it will have a negative impact on these sec-
tors. It is also bad for the overall economy as it will
increase the government’s import bills. Moreover,
with higher crude oil prices in the interna-
tional market, the fuel prices will also
witness a surge, thus giving a push
to inflation further.

Lucknow: The voting
process for the ongoing
elections in UP has
reached its final stage.
In the six phases that
have been completed so
far, the fate of the candi-
dates who have contest-
ed for 349 seats, out of
403 assembly seats, has
been locked in the
EVMs. Claims of victo-
ry of their respective
party are being made by
both the BJP and the SP.
Earlier, Union Home
Minister and BJP’s star
campaigner Amit Shah
has claimed that in the
five phases of the elec-
tions, BJP has got the
majority figure. He has
also claimed that now in
the seventh phase, vot-
ers will vote for the gov-
ernment with three
hundred plus. Whereas,
SP Chief Akhilesh Ya-
dav has also put forward
a huge claim and said
that his party hit a cen-
tury in the first two
phases of voting for the
UP Assembly elections.
He said that the SP will
form the govt after the
third and fourth phases.
He has even added that
by the 7th and final
phase of the elections,
silence will prevail at
the BJP’s booths.
LOWER VOTER
TURNOUT
First India Bureau
Lucknow: Even as the
state enters into final
phase of elections a
debate has ensued in
political circle whether
a low or high voter
turnout has a direct co-
relation with prospects
of the political parties
in the fray. The trend
of low turnout in the
election continued
even in phase six
of the crucial polls.
Around 55.70 per cent
electorate exercised
their franchise in the
sixth phase of polling
in 57 constituencies.
The point is however
contestable that low
turnout would harm the
ruling party. There have
been elections where
higher voting helped
the incumbent govt.
PARTIES ROUND OFF CAMPAIGN BLITZ
M Tariq Khan
Lucknow: Even as the
high-octane campaign
for the last lap of UP
elections came to an end
on Saturday, all parties
made a last ditch effort
to give their best shot as
Purvanchal is considered
to be the bellwether
region of the State. While
the ruling BJP is pulling
out all stops to retain its
bastion, its main con-
tender the SP made an
aggresive push to regain
the constituencies it won
in the 2012 elections. Not
to forget that this phase
will also be a litmus test
for allies on both the
sides from Anupriya Patel
to Om Prakash Rajbhar.
TMC has unleashed ‘unofficial
emergency’ in Bengal: BJP
Kolkata (PTI): BJP
state President Sukan-
ta Majumdar on Satur-
day alleged the ruling
Trinamool Congress
has unleashed an “unof-
ficial emergency “ in
the state, where work-
ing for BJP was “noth-
ing short of a crime.”
Majumdar also
claimed the recently
concluded municipal
polls in the state were
“farcical” and only BJP
put up a spirited fight.
BJP could not win a sin-
gle municipal body out
of 108 which went to the
polls earlier this week
and ended up with a
12.57 per cent of votes
cast.
TMC reacted to the
charges claiming that
these were “wild allega-
tions” made by a party
which did not enjoy the
confidence of the elec-
torate.
Majumdar in his
speech to BJP workers
charged, “In Bengal an
unofficial emergency
situation prevails.”
“One is not targeted
in the same way for be-
ing part of CPI(M), Con-
gress or others, the way
one is singled out for
being part of BJP,” the
BJP MP from Balurghat
alleged.
He claimed that po-
lice remains inactive
when his party’s `kar-
yakartas’ (workers)
“are beaten up or even
murdered by Trina-
mool goons.”

cal court here has

Jaipur (PTI): Ra-
jasthan Chief Minister
Ashok Gehlot on Satur-
day said the Ukraine
crisis has presented an
opportunity to consider
increasing the number
of medical colleges and
seats in the country
.
The future of thou-
sands of students forced
to return to India due to
the Russian invasion of
Ukraine is now uncer-
tain. In such a situation,
apositivedecisionneeds
to be taken keeping in
mind the future of these
students, he said.
He suggested that the
Centre should change
the rules of the Medical
Council of India so that
both government and
private sectors can open
more medical colleges.
The Ukraine crisis
has given an opportu-
nity to consider the pos-
sibility of the central
and the state govern-
ments working together
to significantly in-
crease the number of
medical colleges and
medical seats in the
country, he said.
Thousands of stu-
dents from India go
abroad for studies. Most
of them go to countries
like China, Nepal,
Ukraine, Russia, Kyr-
gyzstan, Kazakhstan,
Bangladesh etc. for
medical studies be-
cause the expenses are
less there. But when
they come back, they
have to give the Foreign
Medical Graduate Ex-
amination, Gehlot said.
Most of these stu-
dents are unable to pass
the test and are also de-
prived of medical prac-
tice due to the linguistic
and curricular changes.
In such a situation, it
reduces the value of hu-
man resources of the
country and all of them
also suffer economic
losses, he said.
He said the UPA govt
had started a scheme of
opening government
medical colleges in eve-

IN KARNAVATI
The meeting of the
Rashtriya Sway-
amsevak Sangh’s Prati-
nidhi Sabha is being
convened from March
11 to 13 in Karnavati,
Gujarat. According to
the agenda of the meet-
ing, it aims to outline
various programmes
to commemorate 100
years of the Sangh in
2025. But also look at
the timing of this meet-
ing that the results of
the Assembly elections
of five states will be de-
clared on March 10 and
this meeting has been
kept just a day after
that. Is it so that the
performance of the
BJP in these elections
can also be reviewed?
Or can there be any
discussion on 2024
polls? The Sangh lead-
ership often does such
things in closed rooms
wherein, the top lead-
ers of a select number
of unions are present.
In particular, there will
be talk of making the
celebration of 100
years of the Sangh
‘grand and effective. ’
1,500 people from all
over the country along
with BJP National
President JP Nadda
Org Gen Secy BL San-
tosh are likely to be
present in this meet-
ing.
CAN JN SINGH
REPLACE PK
MISHRA?
The news has gone
very loud that the
almighty PK Mishra of
the PMO is going to
leave. There is talk of
making him the Gover-
nor of some important
state. He is 74 years old,
 he is a bit unwell
these days, so looking
at his age and health,
he can be shown the
way out of PMO. Sourc-
es reveal that specula-
tions about Mishra’s
departure are also
gaining weight be-
cause Bhaskar Khulbe,
his very special friend,
did not get an exten-
sion in the PMO. Name
of Dr Jagdeep Narayan
Singh to replace
Mishra is doing the
rounds. Dr. Singh re-
tired as Guj CS in No-
vember 2019. National
Security Advisor Ajit
Doval can also be sent
as the Governor of a
state, say sources.
WILL THE DELHI
MUNICIPAL
CORPORATION
ELECTIONS BE
POSTPONED?
Sources reveal that
the upcoming mu-
nicipal elections of
Delhi, which were to be
held on April 12, maybe
postponed for 6 months.
And on this issue, there
has been an agreement
between the two major
political parties of Del-
hi i.e. Bharatiya Janata
Party and Aam Aadmi
Party. But both these
parties have kept Con-
gress in the dark in
this matter. This was
first disclosed by Vijen-
dra Yadav, former dep-
uty chairman of Stand-
ing Committee. Yadav
says that “the three
corporations should be
united first, then elec-
tions can be held here
only after six months.”
Elections can be held
in the month of Sep-
tember. In this regard,
there is an important
meeting of the top BJP
leaders of Delhi on
March 12 in which a de-
cision can be taken to
postpone the elections.
...AND FINALLY
Petro diesel prices
in the country
have not increased in
the last three months,
but after the last phase
of the Uttar Pradesh
elections to be held on
March 7, there may be
an unexpected price
increase of Rs 10 to Rs
20 in the prices of pet-
rol and diesel. The Oil
companies and the
government can
blame it on the recent
Russia-Ukraine war.
The price of edible
oils has risen by about
15 percent as the Ada-
ni Wilmar Oil pro-
cures 60 percent of its
demand from Ukraine,
which is almost
doomed to bear the
brunt of war these
days.

The Prime Minister had said without nam- ing that more than 40 members of a family were in one or the other post. He has continu- ously appealed to defeat the dynasts and mafias. Maneka and Varun Gandhi are facing col- lateral damage for cam- paigning by targeting the Gandhi family . Both are BJP MPs but this time BJP did not in- clude them in the cam- paign. Prime Minister Modi removed Maneka from the cabinet and did not give place to Varun. Even both of them did not get a place in the national execu- tive of the party. Con- gress leaders believe that Maneka and Varun Gandhi have been treat- ed like this because the prime minister was to launch a massive attack on the dynasts in the Ut- tar Pradesh elections and the BJP had to con- test on this issue. Both Maneka and Varun Gandhi understand this and after March 10 they will also decide the fu- ture strategy . Dynasty only means Gandhi family! FOR BJP Negative political ideology: PM Modi slams Oppn Whenever some challenges crop up before the nation, these dynasts look for their political interests, PM said during a rally in Varanasi Varanasi (ANI): Prime Minister Naren- dra Modi on Saturday came down heavily on the Opposition for po- liticising the Ukraine crisis, saying that “dy- nasts always look for opportunities to serve their self-interests”. “Blind opposition, continuous opposition, acute frustration, and negativity have be- come their political ideology,” PM Modi said in his sharp attack on the Opposition. PM Modi while cam- paigning for the last phase of Assembly elections said that the Opposition parties look for political inter- ests even when the na- tion faces challenges, making the situation even more critical. His statement came amidst India stepping up the evacuation of the stranded Indian na- tionals under ‘Opera- tion Ganga’. Addressing an elec- tion rally in his Parlia- mentary constituency Varanasi, the Prime Minister said, “When- ever some challenges crop up before the na- tion, these dynasts look for their political inter- ests. If India’s security forces and people deal with a crisis, the Oppo- sition parties do every- thing to make the situa- tion more critical. We saw this during the pan- demic and today during the Ukraine crisis.” The Opposition, mainly Congress, has been slamming the Centre over ‘Operation Ganga’, alleging late reaction in the evacua- tion of Indians. Earlierintheday ,Con- gress leader Rahul Gan- dhi slammed the Centre, citing a media report claiming that students were asked to clean toi- letstoreturntoIndia.“It is an insult of the entire country ,”remarkedGan- dhi on the media report. He had earlier said that “evacuation is a duty and not a favour”. Forthepasttwoyears, the Prime Minister said freerationisbeingmade availabletoover80crore poor, Dalits, backward, and tribals. “The entire world is amazed at the rolloutof thefoodgrains scheme. But I am happy that the poor is happy,” he added. “Those who live in palaces don’t know the troubles that a poor mother goes through in absence of a toilet at home. They have to ei- ther think of answer- ing nature’s call before sunrise or bear the pain throughout the day and do so only after sunset,” the Prime Minister said. New Delhi (ANI): With state elections ending on Monday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi slipped in a dig at the government two days before the final voting day, advising people to fill up their fuel tanks and warning that a price hike was looming. "Quickly fill up your tanks. Modi govern- ment's 'election' offer is about to end," he wrote in a Hindi tweet. With international oil prices soaring past $100 a barrel, petrol and diesel prices - locked by state-run oil companies because of the elections - are likely to be hiked after polls get over next week. International crude oil prices have shot above $110 a barrel for the first time since mid- 2014 on fears that oil and gas supplies from energy giant Russia could be disrupted, ei- ther by the conflict in Ukraine or retaliatory western sanctions. The basket of crude oil India buys rose above $102 per barrel on March 1, the highest since August 2014, ac- cording to information from the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC) of the oil ministry, media report- ed earlier this week. The average price per barrel of the same crude was $81.5 when petrol and diesel prices were locked in in early November last year. "With state elections getting over next week, we expect daily fuel price hikes to restart across both gasoline and diesel," investment banking company JP Morgan said in a report. The seventh and final phase of polling for the Uttar Pradesh legisla- tive assembly is on Monday and the count- ing of votes is slated for March 10. He also asserted that one or two gang- sters, who are still out of jail, will be put be- hind bars once the BJP returns to power in the state on March 10, when the results of the ongoing Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls are declared. Addressing a poll meeting in the Mal- hani Assembly con- stituency, Mr Shah said, “Do not make the musclemen win this time. You should make such a candi- date win who has the values of service in his DNA. The one who does not want to snatch, but wants to give. The one who does not slap anyone, but wants to send the person who has slapped to jail.” He said in the run- up to the 2017 state As- sembly polls, the BJP had promised that Ut- tar Pradesh will be freed of the mafia in five years. “Today, Atiq Ahmed, Azam Khan and Mukhtar Ansari are in jail. One or two are out (of jail). You make the lotus (the BJP’s poll symbol) bloom on March 10 and after that, they will be in jail,” he added. Addressing reporters on Saturday after the meeting, Delhi Congress in-charge Shakti Singh Gohil said that in the upcoming corporation elections, Congress will give tickets to the deserving candidates in a transparent manner. “Rahul Gandhi instructed the leaders to fight the corporation elections unitedly,” he said. Gohil also informed that he along with state chief Anil Chaudhary will hold meetings every week with former state presidents like Ajay Maken, JP Agarwal, Arvinder Singh Lovely and Subhash Chopra. The dates for the Municipal Corporation elections will be announced within a few weeks. The last time Congress won the civic elections was about 20 years ago in 2002. He took the membership of the party during a public meeting of SP president Akhilesh Yadav held in Gopalpur Vidhan Sabha of Azamgarh. All I can say is that I sorely miss it. Before I come to the war in Ukraine and its horror, I will refer to a stunningly moving act of one of our students in Ukraine, 21 year old Rishab Kaushik from Dehradun, re- fused to leave Ukraine or get into the Indian Air Force res- cue plane unless he was al- lowed to take his pet dog Maliboo with him. Finally Rishab and Malibo reached Gaziabad on Febru- ary 27. For the past few days, I have been recalling what the Swedish Count Axel Gustaf- son Oxenstierna (1583-1654) said, “Know, my son, with how little wisdom the World is governed.” “The United Nations was founded in 1945. At the open- ing, the Secretary of State of theUnitedStateuninhibitedly declared, “The Veto provision was an absolute condition for the United States’s participa- tion in the United Nations. The Super Powers (U.S.A, U.K, U.S.S.R, France and Chi- na) would not be subject to any co-ercion. The Veto in- sured that General Assembly or the Security Council could not act against any of the five permanent members.” The greatest democracy in the World ensured the Secu- rity Council would be a law unto itself. It would not be a democratic establishment. In the Security Council meeting earlier in the week, Russia vetoed the resolution that condemned Russia for “invading” Ukraine. India rightly abstained. It also did so in subsequent meetings. The 20,000 Indians mainly students had a rough time while getting out of Ukraine. Very many had to walk twen- ty miles in freezing cold to reach a railway station. Cha- os prevailed there. Hundreds were prevented from enter- ing the compartments. INDIA NEW DELHI | SUNDAY, MARCH 6, 2022 05 www.firstindia.co.in I www.firstindia.co.in/epaper/ I twitter.com/thefirstindia I facebook.com/thefirstindia I instagram.com/thefirstindia Mahesh Sharma New Delhi: The Gov- ernment of India had set a huge target of earning through disin- vestment in the finan- cial year 2021-22. Pre- senting the budget in 2021, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had said that 1.75 lakh crore rupees will be raised by selling gov- ernment companies. A year after that, when she presented the budg- et for 2022, it came to light that the govern- ment was able to raise only 12-13 thousand crores by selling its companies. So, in the revised estimate of the budget, it has been said that the government will earn Rs 78 thou- sand crore by selling its companies. This estimate of the government is based on the fact that five per- cent stake will be sold by bringing IPO of Life Insurance Corporation of India ie LIC, which can earn 70-80 thousand crore rupees or more. If that happens, the gov- ernment will earn more in the Revised Esti- mates and give itself a pat on the back. How- ever, there seem to be several obstacles in this approach, but the gov- ernment is also bracing itself to sell it off, in any case. That’s why the stock market in India is show- ing a boom even in the midst of Ukraine’s at- tack. If markets around the world fell, there was a historic fall in India too. In one day the index fell by 27 hundred points and investors lost thirteen and a half lakh crores rupees. But the very next day i.e. on Friday, the market went upby13hundredpoints. The stock market is so sensitive, yet it is going up in the middle of the war, so it means that some external force wants it to be so and thus it is happening. The Government of In- dia does not want that there should be nega- tive sentiment in the stock market and inves- tors should stay away from it. Therefore, it is being believed that no matter how much the war lasts, but the Indi- an stock market will remain bullish. Concerned about its earnings from LIC, the government took an- other big decision on Saturday. The govern- ment has allowed for- eign direct investment up to 20 percent in LIC. For this, the govern- ment changed the spe- cial law of LIC. After this change, foreign in- vestors will be able to invest up to 20 percent in LIC through the auto- matic route. In fact, the government is worried that if domestic inves- tors do not invest more, then the target of earn- ing will remain incom- plete. Therefore, exemp- tion has been given to foreign investors. In the insurance sector, 74 per- cent FDI is allowed, but LIC’s law is different from the insurance law and FDI was not al- lowed in it till now, a ‘hurdle’ which the gov- ernment has done away with now. To boost its earning, Govt has tinkered with LIC law Jammu (Agencies): The issues inherent in redrawing of Jammu and Kashmir by the De- limitation Fee persist, with a second draft fol- lowing talks addition- ally operating into ob- jections. As per its second draft report, shared with its 5 members on February 24, the panel has steered that the Ra- jouri Meeting seat be reserved for STs in- stead of Poonch Haveli, that had been proposed earlier; restoration of Suchetgarh, as an al- ternative of its merger with R S Pura and Bishnah; SC-reserved standing for Suchet- garh; restoration of Srinagar’s Habba Kad- al constituency with its sizeable Kashmiri Pan- dit migrant voters; and renaming of the newly proposed Mughal Maidaan as Inderwal. Other than this, the fee has additionally re- drawn boundaries of some seats in each Jammu and Kashmir divisions. Non-BJP events have denounced the adjust- ments as favouring the BJP . PDP spokesperson FirdousTakmentioned the adjustments “give credence to our appre- hensions that the Fee is working on the behest of the BJP”. Apni Oc- casion spokesperson Vikram Malhotra men- tioned “the BJP ob- tained every thing achieved for its politi- cal comfort”, whereas Congress chief spokes- person Ravinder Shar- ma mentioned “the De- limitation Fee has achieved dissection as an alternative of de- limitation”. The suggestion to not reserve Poonch Haveli for STs adopted wide- spread protests within the constituency , which is basically inhabited by individuals of Kash- miri origin, at such a change. The constitu- ency’s inhabitants com- prised 36.60% tribals. To shift the ST standing to Rajouri — regardless of solely 33.84% of its inhabitantsbeingtribal — the panel has now steered including Fatehpur, Doongi and Bagla from the pro- posedThanamandicon- stituency . This is able to take Rajouri’s tribal numbers to 37.18% of the inhabitants. Thana- mandi too can be ST re- served as per the De- limitation Fee. New Delhi: A special CBI court in Delhi has dismissed the anticipa- tory bail plea of Chita Ramkrishna, the former managing director and the CEO of the National Stock Exchange in con- nection with the NSE co- location case. The CBI has already arrested Anand Subramanian, NSE’s former group op- erating officer, who had served as Ramkrishna’s advisor, fromChennaiin the co-location case. Chitra and Anand hit the headlines after SEBI, in an order on February 11 charged Chitra with alleged gov- ernance lapses in the appointment of Subra- manian as the chief strategic advisor and his re-designation as group operating officer and advisor to MD. SEBI levied a fine of Rs 3 crore on Ramkrishna, Rs 2 crore each on NSE, Subramanian, former NSE MD and CEO Ravi Narain, and Rs 6 lakh on VR Narasimhan, who was the chief regu- latory officer and com- pliance officer. The CBI, which was probing the co-location scam since 2018, swung into action after the SEBI report that showed alleged abuse of power by the then top brass of the NSE. Ramkrishna said she was steered by a Hima- layan yogi in the ap- pointment of Anand Subramanian. While CBI claimed Anand Subramanian himself was the Himalayan yogi, SEBI contradicted the claim. Earlier, the Securi- ties and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has penalized the Na- tional Stock Exchange (NSE) and its former CEOs Chitra Ram- akrishna and Ravi Narayan and two other officials for lapses in recruitment at the sen- ior level. Nawab Malik was arrested by the Enforcement Directo- rate on February 23 in a money-laundering probe linked to the activities of Dawood Ibrahim and his aides. Pune (ANI): Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar on Saturday said the work of the metro service to be inaugurated by the PM is incomplete, and underlined the need to focus more on rescuing Indian students stranded in war-hit Ukraine. The prime minister is scheduled to visit Pune on Sunday for the inaugura- tion of the metro service and unveiling other projects. “I agree that there are important projects in Pune that are incomplete and the PM will be inaugurating the important one....rescuing students stranded in Ukraine is more important. BIZ BUZZ NEW DELHI | SUNDAY, MARCH 6, 2022 06 www.firstindia.co.in I www.firstindia.co.in/epaper/ I twitter.com/thefirstindia I facebook.com/thefirstindia I instagram.com/thefirstindia As the Russia-Ukraine battle entered its second week, the world witnessing anxious moments as the conflict is badly affecting other countries too and India is not an exception. India’s economy and its five five sectors have neen hit by this war in far off countries. Russian military action on Ukraine has had a negative impact on equity markets while leading to a surge in crude oil, base metal, and agricultural commodities. With an escalating invasion by Russia in Ukrainian territories, sanctions that were imposed by the West on Russia, have disrupted global supply chains. The ongoing Russia-Ukraine crisis will impact the core sectors of the Indian economy. As the Indian Rupee also witness depreciation against US Dollars, India is likely to witness a surge in prices of products in the coming days. The prices of base metals are likely to move higher amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine crisis. Navneet Damani, senior vice president - commodity currency research at Mo- tilal Oswal Financial Services was quoted by media: “The latest trig- gers come from Ukraine – Russian geopolitical tensions which have led to sharp volatility in most asset classes. Before this Russia-Ukraine crisis escalated, select metals were already seeing very strong fundamentals and there are possibilities of the United States and its European allies to announce fresh sanctions against Russia. Aluminum has added over 40 per cent gains in 2021 and added 20 per cent gains in 2022,” The Russia-Ukraine military conflict may have an implication on the country’s trade in that region as it would affect the movement of consignments, payments and oil prices, according to export- ers. The Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) said they have asked exporters to hold their consignments to the region or goods that take the Black Sea route. To Russia, Ukraine and other eastern Eu- ropean countries, goods move from the Suez Canal and the Black Sea, FIEO Director- General Ajay Sahai said. He added that the quantity of impact on trade will depend on the duration of the war. Ukraine and Russia are the major suppliers of sunflower oil. Between November 2020 and October 2021, India imported a total of 18.93 lakh tonnes of crude sunflower oil, of this Ukraine exported 13.97 lakh tonnes and Russia exported 2.22 lakh tonnes of sunflower oil to India. With the ongo- ing Russia-Ukraine crisis, the demand and supply chain of sunflower oil has been impacted. As a result, edible oil companies are now looking at options to import edible oil from other countries. They are also proposing the usage of other cooking oils such as palm oil and groundnut oil so that the retail prices do not increase. EDIBLE OIL The Russia-Ukraine region is one of the major exporters for some of the key agricultural products globally. At No. 4 position in wheat exports, after EU, Russia and Australia (26 mt), is Ukraine, at 24 mt. Ukraine, moreover, is the world’s third largest exporter of corn/maize, with a projected 33.5 mt in 2021-22, after the US (61.5 mt) and Argentina (42 mt). Ukraine and Russia are also the top two exporters of sunflower oil, at 6.65 mt and 3.8 mt, respectively in 2021-22, as per USDA. If that weren’t all, Russia and its next-door ally Belarus are the world’s No. 2 and No. 3 producers of muriate of potash (MOP) fertiliser, at 13.8 mt and 12.2 mt in 2020, respectively, behind Canada (22 mt). The European Union has already warned that the impact of the Russia-Ukraine war will be painful for the agri-food sector. AGRICULTURE Ukraine and Russia are amongst the major chip exporters globally. According to a re- port by Moody Analytics, while Russia supplies the semiconduc- tor industry with important metals such as palladium, Ukraine supplies special gases such as Neon and Helium which are required for chip making. As the ongoing war between Russia-Ukraine escalates, the semi- conductor industry is going to bear a massive brunt, with chip-dependent sectors such as the automobile and the IT sectors getting hit badly. Even before the crisis, the world was fac- ing a semiconductor shortage. Ac- cording to the report, amid the ongo- ing Russian-Ukraine crisis, the prices for neon gas have surged 10 times, which will potentially impact the manufacturing of automobiles in the Asia-Pacific region. BASE METALS Russia is the third-largest exporter of crude oil globally. With the Russian inva- sion of Ukraine, the crude oil prices soared to a seven-year high of $110 per barrel. On Wednesday, the Brent crude oil benchmark was trading at $110.23 per barrel. Several sectors are crude-oil dependent. These include paint makers, oil makers, and fertilizer companies. India imports 85 per cent of its oil require- ments. The Economic Survey 2022 estimated India’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth rate at 8.0 to 8.5 per cent in 2022-23, which hinges on crude oil prices being in the range of $70-$75 a barrel. With crude oil crossing $100 per mark, it will have a negative impact on these sec- tors. It is also bad for the overall economy as it will increase the government’s import bills. Moreover, with higher crude oil prices in the interna- tional market, the fuel prices will also witness a surge, thus giving a push to inflation further. FUEL AUTOMOBILES The situation in Ukraine deteriorated after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a military operation in Ukraine, triggering full-scale military confrontation between the two countries. Following Putin’s announcement, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said an“invasion” could be the beginning of a“big war”in Europe. TAKES TOLLON INDIA’STRADE Promoted by AU Small Finance Bank

Warne played 55 matches for Rajasthan Royals between 2008 and 2011. He led the side to the IPL title in the inaugural edition in 2008. That triumph remains RR’s only IPL title till date. He was instrumental in grooming a host of young Indian cricket- ers who were part of the Royals’ squad dur- ing that period. “Everyone associat- ed with the Rajasthan Royals is still shocked and devastated. In the six phases that have been completed so far, the fate of the candi- dates who have contest- ed for 349 seats, out of 403 assembly seats, has been locked in the EVMs. Claims of victo- ry of their respective party are being made by both the BJP and the SP. Earlier, Union Home Minister and BJP’s star campaigner Amit Shah has claimed that in the five phases of the elec- tions, BJP has got the majority figure. He has also claimed that now in the seventh phase, vot- ers will vote for the gov- ernment with three hundred plus. Whereas, SP Chief Akhilesh Ya- dav has also put forward a huge claim and said that his party hit a cen- tury in the first two phases of voting for the UP Assembly elections. He said that the SP will form the govt after the third and fourth phases. He has even added that by the 7th and final phase of the elections, silence will prevail at the BJP’s booths. LOWER VOTER TURNOUT First India Bureau Lucknow: Even as the state enters into final phase of elections a debate has ensued in political circle whether a low or high voter turnout has a direct co- relation with prospects of the political parties in the fray. The trend of low turnout in the election continued even in phase six of the crucial polls. Around 55.70 per cent electorate exercised their franchise in the sixth phase of polling in 57 constituencies. The point is however contestable that low turnout would harm the ruling party. There have been elections where higher voting helped the incumbent govt. PARTIES ROUND OFF CAMPAIGN BLITZ M Tariq Khan Lucknow: Even as the high-octane campaign for the last lap of UP elections came to an end on Saturday, all parties made a last ditch effort to give their best shot as Purvanchal is considered to be the bellwether region of the State. While the ruling BJP is pulling out all stops to retain its bastion, its main con- tender the SP made an aggresive push to regain the constituencies it won in the 2012 elections. Not to forget that this phase will also be a litmus test for allies on both the sides from Anupriya Patel to Om Prakash Rajbhar. TMC has unleashed ‘unofficial emergency’ in Bengal: BJP Kolkata (PTI): BJP state President Sukan- ta Majumdar on Satur- day alleged the ruling Trinamool Congress has unleashed an “unof- ficial emergency “ in the state, where work- ing for BJP was “noth- ing short of a crime.” Majumdar also claimed the recently concluded municipal polls in the state were “farcical” and only BJP put up a spirited fight. BJP could not win a sin- gle municipal body out of 108 which went to the polls earlier this week and ended up with a 12.57 per cent of votes cast. TMC reacted to the charges claiming that these were “wild allega- tions” made by a party which did not enjoy the confidence of the elec- torate. Majumdar in his speech to BJP workers charged, “In Bengal an unofficial emergency situation prevails.” “One is not targeted in the same way for be- ing part of CPI(M), Con- gress or others, the way one is singled out for being part of BJP,” the BJP MP from Balurghat alleged. He claimed that po- lice remains inactive when his party’s `kar- yakartas’ (workers) “are beaten up or even murdered by Trina- mool goons.” Life term to five 20 years to a juvenile in Isewal gang rape case First India Bureau Ludhiana: In the infamous Issewal gang rape case a lo- cal court here has announced life im- prisonment to five and 20 years im- prisonment to a mi- nor convict. There were six convicts in the case. Court has also imposed a fine of rupees one lakh each on the five con- victs and rupees fifty thousand on the juvenile ac- cused. According to verdict after col- lecting this amount it would be paid to the victim as com- pensation. The court of additional session judge fur- ther made it clear in its judgement that if the govern- ment give any com- pensation from the Victim Compensa- tion Scheme that would be addition to the announced by the court. It may be recalled that this infamous case of gang rape happened on Febru- ary 9, 2019 when the victim was going in a car with her boy friend on Sidhwan canal road ( on the out skirts of the city). The development comes in view of a decrease in the num- ber of COVID-19 cas- es across the national capital and inside prison premises, they said. The Tihar Jail administration said they had earlier planned to involve Kumar in sports ac- tivities, but the plan had to be halted in view of the third wave of COV- ID-19 in Delhi. “We had decid- e d to allow this earlier but could not do so in view of the third wave of Covid. Now, with normalisation of the situation, rou- tine activities in pris- ons are being re- stored. So, we will al- low Sushil Kumar to give coaching classes on wrestling and physical fitness to other inmates who are interested,” Di- rector General (Delhi Prisons) Sandeep Goel told PTI. Prison officials said since Kumar is a trained professional wrestler, his coach- ing classes on fitness and wresting will benefit inmates who want to learn a new sport and will also help them stay fit a n d healthy . India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Geneva, Ambassa- dor Indramani Pandey made the statement on Friday at the interactive dialogue on the High Commissioner for Hu- man Rights report on promoting reconcilia- tion, accountability and human rights in Sri Lanka. Jagdeesh Chandra was on a one-day visit to the capital of West Bengal. Jaipur (PTI): Ra- jasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Satur- day said the Ukraine crisis has presented an opportunity to consider increasing the number of medical colleges and seats in the country . The future of thou- sands of students forced to return to India due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine is now uncer- tain. In such a situation, apositivedecisionneeds to be taken keeping in mind the future of these students, he said. He suggested that the Centre should change the rules of the Medical Council of India so that both government and private sectors can open more medical colleges. The Ukraine crisis has given an opportu- nity to consider the pos- sibility of the central and the state govern- ments working together to significantly in- crease the number of medical colleges and medical seats in the country, he said. Thousands of stu- dents from India go abroad for studies. Most of them go to countries like China, Nepal, Ukraine, Russia, Kyr- gyzstan, Kazakhstan, Bangladesh etc. for medical studies be- cause the expenses are less there. But when they come back, they have to give the Foreign Medical Graduate Ex- amination, Gehlot said. Most of these stu- dents are unable to pass the test and are also de- prived of medical prac- tice due to the linguistic and curricular changes. In such a situation, it reduces the value of hu- man resources of the country and all of them also suffer economic losses, he said. According to the agenda of the meet- ing, it aims to outline various programmes to commemorate 100 years of the Sangh in 2025. But also look at the timing of this meet- ing that the results of the Assembly elections of five states will be de- clared on March 10 and this meeting has been kept just a day after that. Is it so that the performance of the BJP in these elections can also be reviewed? Or can there be any discussion on 2024 polls? The Sangh lead- ership often does such things in closed rooms wherein, the top lead- ers of a select number of unions are present. In particular, there will be talk of making the celebration of 100 years of the Sangh ‘grand and effective. ’ 1,500 people from all over the country along with BJP National President JP Nadda Org Gen Secy BL San- tosh are likely to be present in this meet- ing. He is 74 years old, he is a bit unwell these days, so looking at his age and health, he can be shown the way out of PMO. Sourc- es reveal that specula- tions about Mishra’s departure are also gaining weight be- cause Bhaskar Khulbe, his very special friend, did not get an exten- sion in the PMO. Sources reveal that the upcoming mu- nicipal elections of Delhi, which were to be held on April 12, maybe postponed for 6 months. And on this issue, there has been an agreement between the two major political parties of Del- hi i.e. Bharatiya Janata Party and Aam Aadmi Party. But both these parties have kept Con- gress in the dark in this matter. This was first disclosed by Vijen- dra Yadav, former dep- uty chairman of Stand- ing Committee. Yadav says that “the three corporations should be united first, then elec- tions can be held here only after six months.” Elections can be held in the month of Sep- tember. In this regard, there is an important meeting of the top BJP leaders of Delhi on March 12 in which a de- cision can be taken to postpone the elections. ...AND FINALLY Petro diesel prices in the country have not increased in the last three months, but after the last phase of the Uttar Pradesh elections to be held on March 7, there may be an unexpected price increase of Rs 10 to Rs 20 in the prices of pet- rol and diesel. The Oil companies and the government can blame it on the recent Russia-Ukraine war.
