This document is a research project that aims to examine consumer perception of Nike with regards to symbolism and functionality. It will conduct a literature review and primary research through questionnaires. The findings show that many consumers see Nike as both a symbolic and functional brand, and more buy Nike for its symbolic meaning than functionality. The research also suggests wearing Nike sportswear in non-sporting environments has become more socially acceptable. However, limitations include the limited number of participants, so results may not generalize worldwide. Future research could conduct longitudinal studies to examine how perceptions change over time.
Design of vision concepts to explore the future: Nature, context and design t...Ricardo Mejia Sarmiento
Vision concepts are tangible prototypes used by organizations to explore ideas about the interplay between products and users in future contexts. They represent non-functional or fully working models that demonstrate key features. Examples include concept cars and kitchen concepts presented as vehicles or product systems. Vision concepts are outputs of research exploring questions like how people will interact with food in 2025. They are shared internally through workshops and presentations, and publicly at international events. The design process involves research set-up, future exploration, concept design, prototyping, and developing future messages for exhibition.
The document discusses the role of consumer research in the design process. It notes that some designers see research as limiting their creativity, while others see it as valuable for understanding customer needs and validating designs. The author argues that research is most useful when conducted throughout the design process, using methods like surveys and focus groups, to provide actionable feedback. He warns against using small focus groups to make final decisions and presents best practices for effective consumer research to guide designers.
External Knowledge in Organisational Innovation - Toward an Integration ConceptCommunardo Software GmbH
The document discusses external knowledge integration in organizational innovation. It provides background on open innovation and innovation processes. The author conducted a literature review to identify examples of companies integrating customer knowledge through open innovation projects at different innovation stages. Several case studies are presented. The results show a variety of integration approaches can be categorized based on their strategic focus and allocation within the innovation process. The author proposes developing an integration concept and outlines implications and opportunities for further research.

Corporate Brand Management of Hungarian Startups. A Critical Analysis.Eszter Mónos
This research paper aims to present a research study conducted with newly established Hungarian businesses known as startups about their corporate brand management practices, with the first hypothesis being that ICT and Design Industry startups have similar corporate branding practices using the elements of Lean Methodology and/or Design Thinking. Secondly, the application of these methods in their strategic decisions is in positive correlation with branding (like early adopters, communication). Traditional literature focuses largely on big companies, while the number of studies related to startups is small. Thus, this paper aims to fill a niche in this field and serve as supporting material for Hungarian startups during the brand development process.

The Ultimate Product Design Career Guide
Are you interested in starting a career in product design? Find out the opportunities and skills you'll need to have with this career guide.
Product design is a form of industrial design that involves designing products used by millions worldwide. This could be anything from a chair to an aircraft. However, what makes product designers special is how they think consumers will interact with their product — before, during, and after purchase. That’s because product design isn’t just about creating a solution but also delivering an experience that reflects the brand promise. It’s also about making the production process efficient to make the product available at a reasonable cost.
As a market, product and industrial design is valued at $3.4 billion as of 2022 — an increase of 5.5% from 2021. There are over 17,948 product designers currently employed in the United States. That number is projected to grow 6% by 2030. In addition, it has been reported that businesses that embrace design generate 32% more revenue on average and 56% more shareholder returns.

The document discusses user-centered innovation and how involving users can catalyze creativity. It outlines objectives to define innovation in the context of business models and value generation. A workshop is proposed to introduce participatory methodologies focused on gathering qualitative user data and presenting case studies. Different methods for user involvement are listed, including surveys, focus groups, interviews, and prototyping. An activity is described where participants develop solutions to replace key items in a wallet. Case studies are presented on developing marketing plans for a new product in India using either a traditional or user-centered approach.
This document outlines the process and methodology for studying product form, from problem definition through arriving at a solution. It involves dividing the problem into components, collecting detailed data, engaging creativity and experimentation with materials and technology, developing models, verification of models to identify faults, and synthesizing the work into a final technical drawing or proposal that solves the originally defined problem.
This document discusses the production process for a media project. It explains that the production project will take the skills and content developed in other units and combine them into a finished media product. The chapter will cover applying the production process to respond to a project brief. It stresses the importance of maintaining quality, meeting deadlines, and ensuring the finished product matches the original proposal.
This document analyzes the context for innovation in the fashion industry. It first discusses how the nature of the fashion industry requires a shift from delivery excellence to innovation. It then plots focal points in the innovation space from two perspectives: exploiting the customer innovation space with technology by examining customer needs and technological capabilities, and exploiting business process space with strategy by looking at customer needs and strategic approaches. Finally, it introduces the "House of Innovation" model as a tool to identify relationships between context factors to investigate innovation gaps, strategies, and implementation through methods like lead user involvement and technology exploitation.
Fuzzy Front End Presentation For Hfi Contextual Innovation TeamRushikesh KULKARNI
The document discusses the "fuzzy front end" of innovation and new product development. It describes how companies can identify "lead users" who face needs before the mainstream market and are well-positioned to provide insights into future needs and solutions. Lead users can be identified by tracking trends, screening user databases, or networking to find other innovative users. Their needs and concepts can then be developed into product ideas through workshops or surveys and tested with the broader market. Engaging lead users helps companies better understand emerging needs and opportunities for innovative new products and services.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
