1. WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT ABOUT
TECHNOLOGIES FROM THE PROCESS
OF CONSTRUCTING THIS PRODUCT?
2. WHAT WE USED TO FILM...
We used a DSLR for most of our task, this was to get the best quality shots
possible. We also used a tripod and occasionally a crane to get the cleanest
shots possible.
However when shooting the party scene we decided to use a handheld
camera and an iPhone camera. This was to create a jagged effect that could
not have been easily done on a DSLR. We wanted to make this scene look as
realistic as possible so we shot it at a real party that two of us attended. By
using these pieces of technology we were able to make the scene look
blurred as if from the protagonists P.O.V. We wanted this to looked blurred to
convey her irresponsibility which is a stereotype of teenagers.
3. FINAL CUT PRO
Like films such as (500) Days Of Summer and The Social Network,
we used Final Cut Pro to edit our film together, as shown on the
editing diaries we started out by placing the clips in the correct order
and cut them together over the course of a few weeks.
This software has enabled us to create an authentic piece as we
were able to easily added transactions such as fades, dissolves and
text and we could also quickly import the sound we made in garage
band to complete the piece.
4. GARAGE BAND
We wanted to use a song called British Intelligence by Jamie T in our
opening because we felt that it would attract an audience of late teens
and early twenties who have more alternate music tastes. We couldn't
use this song though due to copyright reasons so we made our
soundtrack using Garage Band. As a group we tried to make the music
build up as the action of the opening increased, we tried to stay clear of
using classical instruments as still wanted to attract our younger
audience. We used electric guitars and drums to give the soundtrack a
rock edge.
We tried many times to get the sound correct to match the style of the
film, this first time the melody sounded too poppy and upbeat and the
second we realised we had used too many of the same instruments
meaning it was very repetitive. However we altered it again to find the
correct beat. We like here how the sound abruptly ends as the door
closes for her to walk into the cafe. We made sound similar to this in
our preliminary task.
