2.  Kata Kerja
 Kata Kerja adalah bagian inti dari Tenses Bahasa Inggris. Kata
kerja atau disingkat V.
 V+ing artinya sama dengan Verb+ing/“Ving”
 Kata kerja dalam bahasa Inggris ada beberapa bentuk: V1, V2,
V3, Ving.
 Kata Kerja bentuk 1 /V1, yaitu kata kerja dasar, seperti: drink,
go, write, read, participate, learn, study, dan sebagainya.
 Kata kerja bentuk ke 2/V2, contoh: drank, went, wrote, read,
participated, learnt, studied, dan sebagainya.
 Kata kerja bentuk 3 /V3, contoh: drunk, gone, written, read,
participated, learnt, studied, dan sebagainya.
 Kata Kerja bentuk ING /Ving, contoh: drinking, going, writing,
reading, participating, learning, studying, dan sebagainya.
 Bagaimana cara menggunakan bentuk-bentuk kata kerja
tersebut? Ada di masing-masing pelajaran Tenses Bahasa
Inggris.

3.  Perubahan bentuk Kata Kerja bentuk 1 (V1) ke bentuk
kedua (V2) dan bentuk ke 3 (V2) ada yang beraturan (ada
rumusnya) dan ada juga yang tidak beraturan (tidak ada
rumusnya).
A. Kata Kerja Beraturan (Regular Verb):
 Artinya mempunyai keteraturan bentuk, ada rumusnya
misalnya ditambah “D” atau “ED” seperti: live – lived –
lived, play, played, played.
 Walaupun ada aturannya tetapi aturan perubahan tersebut
masih ada beberapa. Daftar kata kerja beraturan ini pun
panjang sekali.
B. Kata Kerja TIDAK Beraturan (Irregular Verb):
 Misalnya kata kerja “drink” berturut-turut untuk bentuk ke
1 sampai 3: drink-drank-drunk. Satu contoh lain lagi:
break-broke-broken
 Tidak ada rumus pembentukannya, maka harus dihafal.

Contoh:
(+) She is at the hospital now.

(?) Is she at the hospital now?
Note: Kalimat yang mempunyai kata kerja disebut
kalimat verbal, sedangkan yang tanpa kata kerja
disebut kalimat nominal.

10.  b. Present Continuous Tense (Waktu Berlangsung
Sekarang)
 Menerangkan suatu perbuatan yang sedang
berlangsung pada waktu sekarang (saat dibicarakan).
 Rumus :
 (+) S + Be + V1 + ing + O/C
 Some doctors are attending a meeting now.
 (- ) S + Be + not + V1 + ing + O/C
 Some doctors are not attending a meeting now.
 (? ) Be + S + V1 + ing + O/C + ?
 Are some doctors attending a meeting now?
 Yes, they are. / No, they are not.
 Note:
 I ...... am
 They, we, you ...... are
 He, She, It ......... Is

11.  Put the verbs into the correct tense (simple present or
present progressive).
1. Look! The old patient (stand) ... beside her bed.
2. Quiet please! The doctors (examine)...the casualties.
3. She usually (eat) ...noodle, either fried or boiled. But,
look! At this moment she (eat) ...different menu.
4. Every afternoon some relatives (visit) ...the patients.
5. Nurse Nina often (read) a fairy tale...for that ill little girl.
6. We (discuss) ....about a new disease at the moment.
7. The old patient seldom (cry) or (ask) somethingto the
nurse.
8. The receptionist (not / do) .... anything at the moment.
There is no phone calls and no guests.

12. Past Tense (Waktu Lampau)
Simple Past Tense (Waktu Lampau Sederhana)
 Rumus :

 (-) S+ did not+O/C
 (?) Did+ S+O/C + ?
 Example :
 (+) We came here yesterday.
 (-) We did not come here yesterday.
 (?) Did we come here yesterday ?
Catatan:
 I, you, we, they, he, She, It semuanya pakai did not
untuk negatifnya.

 Contoh :

Catatan:
Apapun subjectnya, semua pakai will.

 Patient: Nurse, I think I might have a fever. It's so cold in here!

Nurse: Here you are. Is that better?
 Patient: Could I have another pillow?
Nurse: Certainly, Here you are. Is there anything else I can do for you?
