1. Abstract :-
Mini centrifugal pumps having a diameter
smaller than 100mm are employed in many field. Design
method for a mini centrifugal pump is not established
because the internal flow condition for these small-sized
fluid machines is not clarified and conventional theory is
not suitable for small-sized pumps. Splitter blades are
adopted in this research to improve the performance and
internal flow condition of mini centrifugal pump having
large blade outlet angle.
2. Then, a semi-open impeller for the mini centrifugal pump with
25mm impeller diameter is adopted in this research to take
simplicity and maintenance into consideration.
The performance tests are conducted with these rotors in order
to investigate the effect of the splitter blades on the
performance and internal flow condition of the mini
centrifugal pump.
A three dimensional steady numerical flow analysis is
conducted to analyze rotor, volute efficiency and loss caused by
a vortex. It is clarified from the experimental results that the
performance of the mini centrifugal pump is improved by the
effect of the splitter blades.
The performance tests are conducted with these rotors in order
to investigate the effect of the splitter blades on the
performance and internal flow condition of the mini
centrifugal pump.
the performance analyses of the mini centrifugal pumps with
and without the splitter blades are conducted.
3. Introduction :-
Centrifugal pump which is also known as
rotary pump used kinetic energy of impeller to force
the fluid and increase its kinetic energy. This kinetic
energy suddenly converts into pressure energy which
move fluid upward. These are used in household
pumps for domestic water supply.

5. Construction :-
First take the 2 bottle caps and cut them with the help
of knife up to 5mm.
Now take the aluminum sheet 50mm*60mm and cut
the sheet with 25mm diameter circle and cut 4 splitter
blades in mm.
Attach the splitter blades to the 25mm diameter circle
and make a center to it and place the nut in it and
place in bottle cap.
Take pvc plastic sheet 50mm*60mm and cut sheet up
to 50mm diameter attach to the bottle cap bended
pipe fitted to the bottle cap .
Now attach the dc motor 12 v to the impeller and later
attach wire motor to the battery and another wire
attach to the switch .

6. Mini centrifugal pump use to pump the water with
the help of impeller .
The pump mainly used for the agriculture for
wetting the crops.
A portion of the energy goes into kinetic energy of
the fluid.
The fluid gains both velocity and pressure while
passing through the impeller.
7. Suction valve of the pump to be opened which cause fluid flow
to the impeller and fill the volute of the centrifugal pump.
Open the vent valve which is on the discharge line before the
discharge valve of the centrifugal pump which cause all air to
move out of the casing and filled with the pumping fluid only.
When some quantity of the fluid comes out from the vent
valve close the valve.
Now open the bypass valve of the discharge valve which is
near or side of the discharge valve on discharge line.
Now start the pump and let it attain its capacity in the pressure
gauge on the discharge line.
8. Centrifugal pump cost of construction is less.
Centrifugal pumps are easy to install. These
required less floor space.
It has high viscosity of fluid .
They are lighter than reciprocating pumps.
These pumps required less maintenance.
9. This pump working is an
automatic operation. And with a electrical
energy and battery is needed for this operation.
Water is also needed for this operation .
