2. How to achieve Light Writing.
Most commonly, light writing is achieved through a camera. Light writing is
also achieved in different locations, not just used in the studio. Light Writing is
successful when the room/ location is pitch black and there is no surrounding
light, these are when the best results are possible.
Equipment.
A variety of light sources can be used to create
this effect; LED flash lights, a fiber optic light
pen. Candles, matches and fireworks also work
to reach this standard. The other equipment
needed for this production is a tripod, the tripod
is needed due to the long exposure times.
Shutter speed can also be activated on the
camera to avoid camera shake.
Methods.
The typical method for light writing is drawing an image, but
not shining the light directly at the camera as it creates a
twinkle, therefore if you don’t this creates a simple image. It is
not recommended to keep going over the design as it will look
messy. You also have to make sure your surroundings are pitch
black and not encounter light until you know that the picture
has been taken. It is quite a simple process and can take form
in writing or in shapes.
3. Post Production.
There is mere post production work in the context of
light writing. It is used in film making, where the
designer may be required to add more light into the
cover of the DVD etc. The post production can be
quite basic as the color of the lights can be changed
and or if there is background in the final image that
can be changed too, to make the image all black.
Subjects.
A city or landscape would be the subject for this
technique, the space required needs to be dark and to
not have anyone wandering through the shot.
5. How to achieve High Speed
Photography.
High speed photography is achieved by having a very high shutter speed,
with a DSLR it must have good sensitivity. High speed photography is the
opposite of time-lapse. High speed photography also refers to freezing
motion.
Equipment.
There are three different types of High Speed film cameras;
intermittent motion camera, rotating prism camera and rotating mirror
cameras.
Method.
There can be two ways to producing a method for high
speed photography. The first is to reduce motion blur, this
can be done by freezing the motion. The second method is
taking a series of photographs at a high frame rate this can
be done by using a mechanical device or by moving
electronic sensors very quickly.
6. Post Production.
With the motion frozen in time it is difficult to
then heavily manipulate the image in post
production, the photograph could be
sharpened to give the image a clearer effect.
Subjects.
High speed photography could be taken
anywhere, but in spaces where other people or
things will be harmed especially when smashing
bottles or using large amounts of water.
