Lesson 20:
WORKING
WITH TEXTS
TRANSFERRING TEXT INTO DREAMWEAVER

 you can type your text into Dreamweaver but
many articles would be created outside of
Dreamweaver such as MS Word or Excel.
Bringing text into Dreamweaver is a very straight
forward but knowing the available options in
bringing these documents into Dreamweaver
would help improve the work flow of your web
design.
when you create a MS Word file with the
intention of bringing it later on to
Dreamweaver, use the formatting options
available, focus on the structure rather than
how it would look like. There are heading
formats in MS Word such as h1, h2 and so on.
It would be an advantage to use these formats
since Dreamweaver would be able to interpret
these also as heading.
METHODS OF TRANSFERRING DOCUMENTS FROM MS WORD
TO DREAMWEAVER

Copy and Paste importing by opening the word document
and then selecting the desired text to transfer and then paste to
the open Dreamweaver window. The text would be pasted in a
format or passion on the preferences pre-selected under the
Edit menu.
        4 options
1. Text only
2. Text with structure (paragraphs, lists, tables, etc.)
3. Text with structure plus basic formatting (bold, italic)
4.Text with structure plus full formatting (bold, italic, styles)
2. Importing from the File
menu, and then clicking on the
arrow you will find the import
options; XML into
Template, Tabular Data, Word
Document and Excel Document.
3. Drag and Drop by selecting the file to import
simply drag and drop the Word document into the
Dreamweaver window. The Insert Document dialog
box which we will see under the preferences option
for Copy/Paste will open. Simply click on the button of
the option how you want the Word document to be
imported and it will now be placed into the open
Dreamweaver window.
4. You can also defer to insert the contents
of the document but opt to create a link; it
can be done by selecting the option to
“Create a link”. The program will create a
link to the specified Word file.
ENTERING TEXT
you will notice that as you enter the
text on the document
window, Dreamweaver automatically
updates the codes.
