1. ELECTRICAL DISCHARGE MACHINING
Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) is a controlled
metal-removal process that is used to remove metal by
means of electric spark erosion. In this process an
electric spark is used as the cutting tool to cut (erode) the
workpiece to produce the finished part to the desired shape.

5. 2.SELECTION OF WORKPIECE :
We have selected TITANIUM alloy grade-5 which is most widely
used in Industries and applications such as medical
equipements ,chemical plants,millitary instalations,and sports
gear.

GRAPHITE ROD: cylindrical
rod -10mm and 100mm
length
COPPER ROD: Cylindrical rod -
10mm diameter
and length of 60mm

7. 4.ECAPPING PROCESS OF COPPER ROD
A round bar of ф 25 x 500 mm was sliced into pieces of 10mm
thick.
Its surfaces were cleaned for rust, dust, and grease. Copper rod
ф10
x70 mm was treated by ECAP process with 90 degree
passages once and was sized to ф10 x 60 mm
