Gifting and Appropriation
MAIN OBJECTIVE
Project’s main objective is to establish meaningful user experiences that
allow for personal, complex and emotional encounters with art and
cultural heritage. The GIFT project suggests creating meaningful
personalization through digital gifting and emotional appropriation.
CENTRAL CONCEPTS
GIFTING
Concept based on personalization of museum experiences by allowing
visitors to create their own museum tours as digital "mixtapes“ and share
them as gifts.
APPROPRIATION
Concept based on a playful reappropriation of museum spaces by enabling
strong identification with museum collections and sharing emotional
responses to artwork.
3. GIFT – Open challenges

Ownership: When can experiences be shared? Privacy? Data control? Persistence?
The role of the object: Risk in untethering from context of the collection
Museum uptake: How to achieve a wide roll out?
Technology: Facial recognition technology issues / Scalability - issues with large number of users.
