2. In years from 2012 to 2015 Municipal Safety
Improvement Program went into action in Jaworzno. Its
main goal was to increase the sense of security of its
citizens in the long term. To accomplish it, city
authorities had to eliminate or decrease negative
phenomenons and tendencies in this regard and
counteract patologies and social maladjustments.
All activities carried out under the program were
financed with funds from the budget of the city of
Jaworzno and financial resources of other cooperating
entities.

3. Jaworzno is a monitored city which for example provides
assistance to the police by recording the traces of
crimes. There is a web page that gives access to a live
view of a certain places from a couple of city’s
surveillance cameras.

4. Our school is
equipped with
surveillance cameras.
Thanks to them school
workers can observe
what is going on in the
building and prevent
unwanted guests from
trespassing on
school’s property.

5. One of the most popular Polish
TV stations (TVN) spoke in one
of their telecasts in 2019 about
Jaworzno being the safe city for
pedestrians. For 11 months to
the time of publishing this
telecast there were no fatal
accidents with pedestrians. It’s all
thanks to the proper road
infrastructure which prevents
drivers from driving too fast. Link:

6. InfrastructureMore and more
junctions are being
rebuild into
roundabouts. It is
much safer
because drivers
have to slow down
to cross the
roundabout and the
intersection could
pass at full speed.

7. Another way to slow
down cars is
exclusion of a piece
of road. Cars have to
slow even sometimes
stop. Due to the fact
that they have to
make an unusual
maneuver, driving a
car will attract their
attention.

8. Our city pays attention
to cyclists. City is
building more and
more bicycle paths.
Beautiful example of
that is Velostrada.
Velostrada is two-band
bicycle path on the
most popular rout. It is
also for strollers. It is
really safe for cyclists
because cars don’t
drive close to them.

9. Our city improves zebra
crossings by adding:
● special lighting of the
passage
● illuminated road
signs
● road lights
