3. Bamboo Pavilion
• A maker project to selected schools
• Goal:
• To construct a bamboo structure for display and use during MFHK2017,
through collaborations between architects, volunteers, university students
and primary and secondary schools (teachers and their students and parents)
• Project leader:
• Kuo Jze Yi
• Possible potential uses of bamboo pavilion
• As an area for offering shielding for makers and exhibitors during MFHK2017

7. Participation School should …
• Assign at least one full-time staff in the school as coordinator for this
programme
• All hands-on workshops delivered by technical assistants have to be
accompanied by at least one full-time staff in the school
• Allocate sufficient time for participating students to practice after hands-on
workshops
• Provide necessary tools for participating students to work on bamboos
• Provide workspace in school for running hands-on workshops
• Offer space in school for storing materials and objects being created
through hands-on workshops and self-practicing sessions
8. Hands-on Workshop (1)
• Supported by 3 technical assistants, for 20 students
• 8 sessions, each for 3hr
• On Sat, 9am - 12pm or 2pm – 5pm

9. Hands-on Workshop (2)
• Possible to have one session per week or every two weeks
• Each student is expected to complete one object per workshop
session
12. Notes
• Prefer Scout Club in school to participate
• Students participating in the hands-on workshops are expected to
contribute to constructions of the bamboo structure to be displayed
in MFHK2017
• 10 technical assistants in total will be available to run hands-on
workshops for participating schools in the whole project
• Actual schedule of hands-on workshops to be confirmed with
individual participating schools
