1. 8th
grade science life application
And these are but the outer fringe of his works;
how faint the whisper we hear of him!
Who then can understand the thunder of his
power
2. Matter
● Colothions 1:16
● For in him all things were created:
things in heaven and on earth,
visible and invisible, whether
thrones or powers or rulers or
authorities; all things have been
created through him and for him.
● This verse teaches us that god
created everything including us
and we were made to searve him
● Matter has three states.
Solid, Liquid, and gas.
● You can meassure its mass
volume and density
● Solid particles are close and
move slow, liquid particles
are a little more spread out
and move at a moderate
pace, gas particles are
spread very far out and move
very fast
●
3. Atoms and the periodic table
● Jeremiah 29:11
● For I know the plans I have for
you,” declares the Lord, “plans to
prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope and a
future.
● This verse teaches us that god
loves us and has a plan for us. So
you shouldn't worry as much and
trust and belive in god and the olan
he has for you
● Atoms have protons, neutrons,
electrons, and nucleuses
● The periodic table shows all the
elements and their atomic number,
symbol, group, and their atomic
mass
● Chemisist classify an element as a
metal based on its hardness,
shininess, malleability, and
ductility
● Protons are positivle charged,
neatrons are neutrely charged, and
electrons are negativley charged
4. Chemical bonds
● Ecclesiastes 4:12
● Though one may be
overpowered,two can defend
themselves. A cord of three strands
is not quickly broken.
● This verse teaches us that what we
can't face alone we can better face
together.
● Two types of bonds are ionic and
covelant.
● Ionic bonds have cryistal shape,
high melting points, and electrical
conductivity.
● Covelant bonds have low melting
points and are poor conductors.
● An ionic bond is a bond formed
between two oppositly charged
ions
● A covelant bond is a bond formed
when two atoms share electrons
5. Chemical reactions
● Hebrews 13:8
● For the word of God is alive and
active. Sharper than any double-
edged sword, it penetrates even to
dividing soul and spirit, joints and
marrow; it judges the thoughts and
attitudes of the heart.
● This verse teaches us that the
word of god even today is still
relavent and can touch us un our
very soul
● Evidence of a chemical reaction is
a change in the properties of the
materials involved.
● Evidence of a chemical reaction is
a production of new materials that
are different from the ones you
began with.
● An endothermic reaction absorbs
head and an exothermic reaction
gives off energy in the form of heat.
● Chemical reactions happen when
chemical bonds break down or
when new bonds form
6. Acids and bases
● 1 John 4:1-3
● Beloved, believe not every spirit,
but try the spirits whether they are
of God: because many false
prophets are gone out into the
world.2 Hereby know ye the Spirit
of God: Every spirit that confesseth
that Jesus Christ is come in the
flesh is of God:3 And every spirit
that confesseth not that Jesus
Christ is come in the flesh is not of
God: and this is that spirit of
antichrist, whereof ye have heard
that it should come; and even now
already is it in the world.
● This verse teaches you to not
always believe what you see and
watch out for false prophets.
● A solution is a well mixed mixture
● Water is also know as the universal
solvent
● A suspension is a mixture in which
the particles can be easily seen
and separated by letting it settle or
filtration
● A solvent is the part of the solution
present in the largest amount and it
dissolves the other substances
● Acids and bases are measured by
the PH sclae
● Hydrochloric acid is rated at a one
and drain cleaner is rated at a
fourteen, water is neutral and is
seven
7. Energy
● For we are his workmanship,
created in Christ Jesus unto good
works, which God hath before
ordained that we should walk in
them.
● This verse teaches you that god
has a plan for you and that we are
his servants that do good deeds
● Kinetic energy is the energy of
motion
● Kinetic energy depends on an
objects mass and velocity
● Potential energy has the potential
to do work and is stored until it is
ready to be used.
● Elastic potential energy is the
energy associated with things that
can be stretched or compressed
● Gravitational potential energy is the
energy that depends on height.
●
8. Thermal Energy
● Revelation 3:15
● I know thy works, that thou art
neither cold nor hot: I would thou
wert cold or hot.
● This verse teaches that you
shouldn't praise god half heartedly.
You should eigher be cold as in not
feeling anything and having no
relationship with god or be hot as
in praising him with all your heart
and trusting him. You shouldn't say
you're a christian and then never
talk to god, or pray, or read the
bible.
● The three types of temerature
scales are Fahrenheit, Celsius, and
Kelvin.
● Thermal energy is the total energy
of all the particles
● Heat is the movement of thermal
energy from substance a higher
temperature to a substance at a
lower temperature.
● Heat is transferred by conduction,
convection, and radiation
9. Motion
● For in him we live, and move, and
have our being; as certain also of
your own poets have said, For we
are also his offspring.
● This verse teaches us that we
should live for jesus and that we
are all children of god. It also says
that even our own poets say so.
● An object is in motion when its
distance from another object
changes.
● When you know both the speed
and the direction of an object you
know its velocity.
● Speed that is given direction is
called velocity .
● The speed of an object is the
distance the object travels per unit
of time.
10. Forces
● Colossians 2:20
● Since you died with Christ to the
elemental spiritual forces of this
world, why, as though you still
belonged to the world, do you
submit to its rules:
● This verse teaches you that you
should obey gods law more than
the law of man because he died for
your sins so you could go to
heaven
● force is a push or pull
● The over all force on an object after all
the forces are added together is the net
force
● Unbalanced forces can cause an object
to move
● Equal forces acting on one object in
opposite directions are balanced forces
● Inertia is the tendency of an object to
resist change in its motion
● Newton's first law of motion states that
an object at rest will remain at rest and
an object that is moving at constant
velocity will continue moving at that
constant velocity unless acted upon by
an unbalanced foe
11. Magnetism
● Hebrews 10:22
● let us draw near to God with a
sincere heart and with the full
assurance that faith brings, having
our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us
from a guilty conscience and
having our bodies washed with
pure water.
● This verse teaches us that we must
draw near to god and honestly
want to be forgiven for him to purify
us
●
● Each magnet has two ends called
poles
● A pole is an are where the magnetic
effect is strongest
● The poles are labeled north and south.
● The north pole will always point north
● Magnetic poles that are opposite attract
and magnetic poles that are alike will
repel
● If you drop a magnetic object too many
times or hard enough the domain will
become unalined and it will no longer
be magnetic
12. Electricity
● Isaiah 40:29
● He gives strength to the weary and
increases the power of the weak.
● This verse teaches us to ask god
for strengh. No matter what it is he
can help. Even if it's a science
project and Mrs. Disla is starring at
you with death in her eyes
●
● Charges that are the same repel
each other and charges that are
different attract each other
● An electric charge exerts a force
through the electric field that
surrounds a charge
● An electric field extends outward
from every charged particle
● In static electricity the charges
build up but do not flow
● Conduction is the transfer of
electrons fro, a charged object to
another object by direct contact
13. Sound
● Psalm 66:8
● Praise our God, all peoples,
let the sound of his praise be
heard;
● This verse tells us to use the
voice god gave us to praise
him. It can be in any way.
You can pray, and sing
● Sound travels in waves
● Sound is caused by creating
vibrations
● The speed of sound depends
on the elasticity, density, and
temperature of the medium
● The pitch of the sound is how
high or low it seems to a
person
● The pitch of the sound
depends on the frequency of
the sound waves
14. Light
● John 12:46
● I have come into the world as a
light, so that no one who believes
in me should stay in darkness.
This verse teaches us that
whenever you feel darkness in
your life you should turn to jesus so
he can brighten your life.
● When light strikes an object the
light can be reflected, transmitted,
or absorbed
● Regular reflection happens when
parallel rays of light hit a smooth
surface. Diffuse reflection happens
when parallel light hits an uneven
or bumpy suface
● A plane mirror forms an image that
is right side up and the same size
as the object that is being
reflected. Concave mirrors curve
inward like a bowl and can form a
virtual image or a real
image.Convex mirrors curve
outward and only forms virtual
images
