Weight Loss in the Sauna
It is possible to lose weight with just regular
sauna use. Along with exercise and a healthy
diet, time in the sauna can increase your
weight loss even more.
There are various ways that sauna use can
help you lose weight and keep it off.

There are five main ways regular sauna use
helps you lose weight:
1. Loss of water weight
2. Burns calories
3. Detoxification
4. Stress relief
5. Pain relief
Loss of Water Weight
Sauna use promotes intensive sweating. This
sweating relieves your body of excess water,
causing you to immediately shed weight.
Some of this weight may be gained back as
you rehydrate. Therefore, it is important to
rehydrate with water and not other fluids or
you may gain extra weight back in fat.
Burns Calories
While in the sauna, your body is working
harder to produce sweat. As your body
works harder, your heart rate, cardiac
output and metabolic rate all increase,
burning more calories.

spend in the sauna, your age and your
weight can affect the amount of calories
burned. On average, you can expect to
burn around 300 to 500 calories per 30
minute session in the sauna.

Sauna use helps rid your body of toxins,
helping you lose weight and keeping your
body healthier. Through sweat, your body rids
itself of not only excess salt, but toxins such
as mercury, lead and sulphuric acid.
Many toxins are stored in fat cells. The sauna
increases your metabolism and burns this fat
