1. In which way does your
magazine use, develop and
challenge?

3. FRONT COVER (USE)
Above I have chosen some elements which as 'use' factors of my magazine. The ones I have identified are
the coverlines, main image and tag line. I chose the cover line because we both list bands related to our
genres down the left side of the cover, the colours used on both magazines contrast with each other
making them stand out against the background. Secondly the mains image used both have neutral
expression. I did this because when researching existing magazines i found that the facial expression is
quite serious. We both also use mid shots. Finally we both use a tagline, using a tag line gives the reader an
insight of what is happening inside the magazine

4. FRONT COVER (DEVELOP)
Next I chose things that i developed, for this element i chose the masthead and the barcode. My masthead
is similar because it is at the top of the page with the main image overlapping it, i developed it by using a
different font. I also have a black box behind my masthead making the white font stand out from the
background.I also added a barcode on to my cover however my barcode is in the shape of a amplifier.

5. FRONT COVER (DEVELOP)
Finally I chose what i picked out challenge elements. This is things on my cover that are completely different
from the existing magazine. Firstly there is the background of my magazine, for the background i chose a
'grungry' background in black and white. The other magazine is a plain gray background. Secondly, there is
my coverline. On the existing cover the name of the artist is in normal wringing and doesn't really stand out
alot, where as, on mine the artists name is the biggest font on my page. Lastly, I added a tag like to the
bottom of my page showing what additional, exclusive content will be inside my magazine.

6. CONTENTS PAGE (USE)
There are a few use elements on my contents page. Firstly, there is the heading. On both magazines the
heading is at the top of the magazine with the title 'contents' next to it. They also use a black box behind
there heading like i do on mine. Secondly, there is the colour scheme. On both magazines the colour
scheme is black, white, red and yellow, however, i use a bit more yellow and red than NME. Finally, we both
have something in the bottom right corner promoting exclusive content Inside the magazine.

7. CONTENTS PAGE (DEVELOP)
Next i looked at development. Firstly i saw that there is a main image on both magazines, however, on mine
i added a brick wall behind it. My contents page also uses subheadings, although, there are different ones
on the existing magazine but on both magazines it is white wringing on top of a black box.

8. CONTENTS PAGE (CHALLENGE)
Finally above are the things i challenged. First is the smaller images on the page. On the existing magazine
there is only one image which is the main image. On my magazine i have 4 smaller images. I also have a sub
heading on my magazine say 'THIS WEEK'. Having this on my magazine adds more colour and draws
attention to the magazine.
