Wildfires
1. Wildfires
By. Sarah, Nate, Sean,and Alina
Mainly a wildfire is any uncontrolled fire that occurs in the
countryside or a wilderness area. Another definition for a wildfire
is a growing natural hazard in most regions of the United States,
posing a threat to life and property, particularly where native
ecosystems meet developed areas. A wildfire is different from
other fires depending on its size. The speed at which it can spread
out from its original source, and it's ability to change direction
unexpectedly and to jump gaps, such as roads, rivers, and fire
breaks. Wild fires can cause intensive damage both to properties
and human life, but they also have various beneficial effects on
wilderness areas. Wildfire behavior is often complex and variably
dependent on factors such as fuel type.
The worst wildfire season, in terms of number of acres
burned, was in the year 2000. Wildfires burned 8.4 million acres.
Trees can explode if water deep inside the tree quickly
turns to steam. Ground fires are when they can burn organic
material in the soil beneath the litter on the surface. They burn by
glowing combustion.
1.4 million acres of trees and land burn each year and
even more sometimes. They occur in every single continent except
Antarctica. In 2008 there was around 1000 wildfires.
To keep safe or prepared you need to have Thermos gel.
It transforms water into a fire prevention and heat prevention and
absorbing the gel. You also need a supply of food and water and it
is always safe to have your house on high lands, only if you live in
the western part of the country.
