Krishna is equally kind to all people, but develops a closer friendship with those who worship and serve him devotedly. Before a major battle, Krishna gave the warring leaders Duryodhana and Arjuna a choice between himself and his army. Duryodhana chose Krishna's large army for practical reasons, while Arjuna, as a devotee of Krishna, chose to have Krishna at his side. Krishna reciprocated Arjuna's devotion by becoming his charioteer and counselor, guiding him through the battle. The moral is that while Krishna treats all with equal kindness, he responds specially to those who want to serve him through devotion.
