The Effects of Social Media on Traditional Marketing and Advertising
Social media is not new. Facebook has been around since 2004, YouTube since 2005, and Twitter in
2006. What is new is how social media sites like Facebook, YouTube and Twitter are affecting the
way businesses market their products and services. Never before in our history have consumers been
able to communicate so effortlessly with each other and with the businesses they frequent. Never
before have businesses been able to interact and react to customer feedback so quickly and
efficiently. However, just because businesses have the ability to use social media for their marketing
and advertising efforts, does not necessarily mean they should. This paper intends to ... Show more

Using the multitude of resources the authors draw from, they study the results of a survey of several
hundred companies using online marketing in order to determine the best practices for those
advertising strategies. The authors ascertain that social media marketing is only as effective as the
prevailing psychological factors in which social media works. These factors are inherent in human
communication, not only on the internet, but in the real world as well. The authors state that there
are communities of people using social media and that "these communities often thrive because the
members primarily are drawn to one another. The importance of person–to–person affinity – and the
ability to interact with these other humans – typically trumped the role of the sponsor's goods or
services or the presence of other features in the online communities." (Moran 232) What the authors
are saying is that social media is a new tool in order to bring similar consumers together and that if a
company wants to be successful in social media marketing, they must concentrate on the human
connection rather than their product or services.
According to "Social marketing meets interactive media" published in the 2011 issue of the
International Journal of Advertising, Ronald Hill and Nora Moran draw from the work of multiple
authors from multiple publications. Using the multitude of resources the authors draw from, they
seek to resolve the dilemma of how models of social

SOS Children's Village is a private non–political social welfare organization whose primary goal is
to provide permanent homes and education to orphaned and abandoned children. SOS Children's
Villages was founded by Hermann Gmeiner who after witnessing the suffering of children in the
second world war established the first SOS CV in Imnst, Austria. Currently there are 450 SOS

Such arrangements challenge both our legal and social definitions of organizations as business
practice outpaces legal and regulatory policy–especially in areas such as internal competitiveness
and trade, intellectual property, privacy, security, family, community, education and culture
(Applegate, 2003).
These rapid changes call for rapid, revision and overhaul of HR strategies. The HR executives have
a big challenge in ensuring that the HR strategies are tailored in such a way as to embrace these
technological advances. The types of opportunities pursued by an organization and the technology
employed strongly influence the approach taken to developing, operating and managing IT
especially in formulating and implementing HR strategies. As IT infrastructure becomes more
standardized, modular and scalable, a shift in IT investment priorities and decisions from a cost–
avoidance, project centered approach to an asset– based strategic option approach and these impacts
on HR strategies.
The implication of IT on HR strategies is diverse since HR strategies flow from business strategies.
A business strategy such as obtaining competitive advantage leads to emerging of HR strategies e.g.
performance management, reward strategy and employee resourcing strategy. Thus ICT can be used
effectively to source, develop and retain competent employees, reward them

1. An outline of the approach to the problem
In order to create the data model for the sourcing agent system the top–down approach has been
used.
The main characteristic of this approach is that it starts from the general and moves up to the
specific detail. In a case of database modelling, top–down approach starts from the overall model.
Once a model is created, the data is organised within this model. The focus is being put on the high
level constructs, for example identification of entities, entity types and relationships between them.
At first a conceptual data model is developed by identifying the data object that are highly
abstracted that exist within the domain.

Rape In The Film: The Invisible War
Rape is not just an issue in the military but; gender discrimination is one as well. This will exist until
stricter rules and policies are set in place. The United States Military and all its branches have to
change their mindsets and judgments of its soldiers and military personnel. If enough measures are
not taken to defeat this problem, rape and assault in the United States
Military will continue to be rampant.
The government is attempting to introduce new legislation to counter and halt rape from occurring
in the United States Military. What is also being critically examined is the approach and procedures
of reporting rape and assault in the United States Military.

nail right in the head. With this film, one cannot turn and avoid the reality in United

populations and release a greater international awareness in whoever watches it. The film exposes
rape victims, retaliations and the disregard in the United States Military concerning rape. This film
was not endorsed by the United States Military nor by the government, but by civilians like film
Director Kirby Dick and film Producer Amy Ziering, who are declaring the problem in the United

The Great Migration
Without The Great Migration, or the migration of African Americans from 1915 to 1970 from the
south to the north, the north would have suffered economically (Wilkerson 8). Specifically, without
the Great Migration, the north would have faced extensive job shortages, that would have eventually
led to economic turmoil. One cause of The Great Migration was the need for southern African
Americans to take industrial jobs in the north. Furthermore, during times of war, many men were
removed from the workforce, meaning that the north needed additional workers to fill the now
vacated spots. (The Great) The north needed the southern African Americans in order to fill these
slots, and without them, the north's economy would have suffered ... Show more content on

During World War I, 4,734,991 people were involved, during World War II 16,112,566 were

were involved. (America's) These created a situation where large amounts of people were removed
from their jobs. These jobs needed to be filled, along with the myriad of other jobs that were created
during the migration. Southern African Americans seemed to be a solution, as they were trying to
get out of their current situations, and the north needed workers. At times, northern companies sent
recruiters to draw more southern African American to work in the north. (The Great)The north
needed people to take these jobs, and southern African Americans fit the bill.
While some of these jobs created by wars and by industrialization were taken by immigrants, this
group could not have accounted and taken all the jobs that needed to be filled in the north. First,
immigrants were not being accepted at an extremely high rate during the Great Migration. Right
before the United States entered the first world war, the number of legal immigrants dropped by
nearly one million, with the number in 1917 being 295,403. During the Great Migration, the highest
amount of legal immigrants coming into the United States was 805,228 in 1921, and the lowest

Executive Summary
Taking into account the difference among product and high proportion of overheads,
Wilkersonshould abandon its existing cost system and move to activity–based costing. The
profitability analysisindicates that the company earns healthy margins on pumps and valves.
However, the margin of flow controllers at actual usage of capacity is negative. Wilkerson should
consider action targeted atcost reduction (changes in flow controllers design or in their production
and delivery process) orraising the price of flow controllers for customers. Since flow ... Show more

Option II: Activity–based costing
Activity–based costing allows tracing indirect costs to product with a high degree of accuracy.
Whilevolume–based costing is implicitly based on an assumption that there's a direct relationship
between volume of production of individual products and level of overhead, activity–based costing
allowsfinding individual relationships between volume of production and different overheads. It
becomespossible due to combining overheads into cost pools and allocating these cost pools to
products inproportion to selected cost drivers that reflect these individual relationships between
volume of production and level of overheads.Wilkerson should pool overheads into five groups
(cost pools): machine–related expenses, setuplabor cost, receiving and production control,
engineering, packaging and shipment. The next step ischoosing most appropriate cost drivers that
reflect the relationship between volume of productionof individual products and level of overheads.
Machine hours are the most natural cost driver formachine–related expenses. Both setup and
receiving, and production control activities are changedin proportion to number of production runs.
Engineering cost can be allocated in proportion tohours of engineering work, whereas packaging
and shipment activity is driven by the number of shipments

Social Exclusion In The Fever Van
Social workers engage with some of the most vulnerable demographics in the population in order to
facilitate change, development, and empowerment (AASW, 2010). Consequently, themes such as
illness, adversity, grief, and resilience are all topics explored extensively within the domain (Rosen
& Zeira, 2000). These themes evident in The Fever Van are encountered, better understood, and
mediated through the use of research based theories. Using such theories, the aforementioned
themes will be explored through the lens of The Fever Van.
When engaging in social work it is of the utmost importance that practitioners enlist the use of
sensitivity and inclusive practice when addressing vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals
(Chenoweth & McAuliffe, 2012). Social exclusion and marginalisation are factors that serve to
disempower and isolate people. An individual can suffer social exclusion as a result of several
different factors such as gender, race, or religion. This identified difference fosters power dynamics
which operate against the rights of those who are 'othered' (Chenoweth & McAuliffe, 2012). In the
case of The Fever Van, the social exclusion at risk of occurring is due to the illness of the child and
the perceived contamination of the family. The assumptions made about those involved contributes
to ostracization and inequality between groups. It furthermore results in responses such as prejudice
and discrimination (Lum, 2007). Disengagement with the family of a child who was sick was
common and those who earned a living through food were often forced out of business. When
engaging with circumstances such as this, it is integral to employ cultural competency, whereby the
practitioner recognises the value and strengths of the individual in question. Reflective practice is
also important as it allows social workers to analyse their own assumptions and beliefs regarding the
issue (Mullaly, 2007). Perceived differences and social exclusion are rampant throughout social
work history. Another example of this can be seen in the former British migrant children (Irizarry &
Kleanthi, 2004). These girls were ostracised and discriminated against due to their English roots.
However, through the use of sensitivity,

The Effects Of Different Types Of Carbon Taxes On The...
Introduction
This paper examines the effects of different types of carbon taxes on the market share of different
electricity generation technologies, particularly between renewable and fossil fuel generators. The
Global Change Assessment Model (GCAM) was used for this analysis because it includes detailed
representations of the technologies in the electricity sector. Given a constraint on emissions or a
certain carbon tax, GCAM will determine the least cost methods of supplying energy in different
sectors. We found that the share of low–carbon generation will increase as the carbon tax increases
and the share of renewables generally increases with the implementation of a carbon tax.
Additionally, the timing of renewable market share ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
GCAM is a dynamic–recursive model that utilizes a solution algorithm that is based on a market
equilibrium. It consists of three core modules: a) Energy, b) Agriculture and land–use, and c) Model
for Assessment of Greenhouse–gas Induced Climate Change (MAGICC). "Regional population and
labor productivity growth assumptions drive the energy and land–use systems employing numerous
technology options" (JGCRI, n.d.). The "GDP is a simple labor–productivity model with an energy–
GDP feedback elasticity" (JGCRI, 2014). Technology change is modeled using an autonomous
energy efficiency index (AEEI) parameter.
The choice of generation mix of technologies in GCAM is based on a logit model, which includes
the relative cost, logit exponents, and share weights of each technology. The logit approach controls
the distribution of market share between technologies or fuels in response to price changes as
represented by equation (1).
(1) Share(i) =swi .Ci–iswi .Ci– where Ciis the cost of the ith technology, swiis the share–weight of
ith technology and is the logit exponent. A high valued logit exponent means that technology's
market shares are more responsive to changes in costs. The share weights are calibrated parameters

The Issue Of Gun Rights
Gun Rights Even though congressional gun–related legislation remains stalemated, there is still a
continued argument over whether laws should be enacted to restrict guns or not enacted to allow gun
rights. Not allowing law abiding citizens, who support the constitution, to exercise their rights to
obtain and own firearms is unjust. Not only does this lead to making all gun owners criminals, it
also makes them easy targets. Citizens who pass background checks should be allowed to obtain and
possess firearms and be able to have concealed carry. Congress should not enact gun control laws
because American's have the right to protect themselves against criminals who usually find ways
around gun restrictions. Rather than hastily passing gun control laws, Congress should pass laws and
focus on issues like awareness and treatment of mental illnesses. Citizens of the United States have
the Constitutional right to bear arms. The Second Amendment of the Constitution reads: "A well–
regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and
bear Arms, shall not be infringed." Not to mention that the military fights and dies for rights given to
us via the Constitution. "All these brave men and women that are trained in firearms, that signed up
to serve in the military, they're largely disarmed especially on our military bases, We need to look at

Analysis Of Johnson & Johnson And Johnson Company Essay
When seven people in Chicago died from cyanide–laced Tylenol tablets in 1982, Johnson & Johnson
(JNJ) responded in a manner that not only saved the company's future, but also saved lives (Knight,
1982). JNJ reacted to the shocking news of the over–the–counter drug–related deaths with
compassion, urgency and honesty. JNJ aimed at showing the public that the company was as much
of a victim as the consumers were, and vowed to resolve the issue and keep the media and
consumers involved and aware, as per the company credo (Our Credo; Rehak, 2002). JNJ's timely
response set a precedence by which public relations practitioners would model and businesses
would strive to achieve. Background
General Company Background In 1886, Robert Wood Johnson, Edward Mead Johnson, and James
Wood Johnson formed Johnson & Johnson company and quickly expanded the company in the late
19th century (Johnson & Johnson History, n.d.). The company created products that were aimed at
improving health and personal hygiene and published books and manuals that instructed sterile
surgery methods, wound treatments and women's health care (Johnson & Johnson History, n.d.).
JNJ began the practice of providing money and supplies for disaster relief in 1900 when the
company assisted victims of a hurricane in Galveston, Texas (Johnson & Johnson, n.d.).

The Wilkerson Company is in the business of manufacturing valves, pumps, and flow controllers to

very unique and more efficient way of designing the valves and it was better than any of the other
competition that also made valves. And this actually helped them establish a loyal customer base

they are having issues with the decline in their company's profits. The company wants to figure out

With their overhead being set at 300% that means they are increase the normal rates up larger than
needed, per each line of product. This has created a bit of an issue for the company as well since the
gross margins for the pumps are down lower than expected. Problem The valves that the company
makes are produced using four different machine components and are produced and shipped in large
lots. Scott feels as if the competitors are now able to match their quality but have yet to try and gain
market share by cutting the prices of their valves. Additionally, the pumps are made using five
components from machines and then assembled into the final product. These are then shipping to the
industrial companies that have purchased these pumps. One issue is that competitors keep lowering
their prices on their own pumps, so Wilkerson has to match these and lower their prices as well. This
makes it hard for Wilkerson to keep their gross margin profits up since their prices continue to
lower. Last, the flow controllers need more labor and machining components than either the pumps
or the valves. Additionally, there are many other alternatives that are used in the industry so more
product runs are needed for these versus the pumps or valves. Also, more shipments are needed for
these since there are shipped to industrial companies. The flow controllers were doing better than
the valves or the pumps since Wilkerson was able to raise their

Possible Solutions To Homelessness In America
Chase Mckinney Mr. Wilkerson Homeless People One out of 30 children in America were homeless

experience the worst of the worst from being exposed to disease and being vulnerable to robberies

of ways such as moving them into permanent housing, implementing assistance programs to keep
their housing, and prevention and stability action. Permanent housing has been proven to be
effective as well as cost efficient. This program can help homeless people especially those suffering
from mental illness or substance abuse problems, since it is long term. Proven housing based

The Us Strategy For Winning The Global War On Terrorism
In light of this, it should be mentioned that "the US strategy for winning the Global War on
Terrorism is predicated on creating an international environment inhospitable to terrorists and all
those who support them" (Fogarty 2001). Meaning, that the fight against terrorism heavily relies on
international cooperation. In order to achieve such a feat, nevertheless, America must be amiable by
fellow governments and their citizens. Unfortunately, the reports and findings on GTMO makes it
increasingly difficult for the American administration to do so, for the inhumane treatment makes
citizens of other countries upset. Quoting General Colin Powell, people from other nation states are
"beginning to doubt the moral basis of our fight against terrorism" (Duberstein as cited in
Washington Monthly 2008). This proves to be an immense hindrance to the war, as America cannot
hope to face all of the world's terrorists alone. To put this in perspective, one can take a look at the
situation with Turkey and Russia. Earlier this year, a Russian jet was shot down by Turkey, having
flown into the latter 's airspace without permission (BBC 2015). Granted, there lies in factors such
as the decades long animosity between the two countries. Albeit, who's to say that America's
relations with countries will never reach such lows? Rather, previous Secretary of Defence Chuck
Hagel says that "one of the greatest long–term dangers America faces is that we are now mistrusted

Outline Of Narrative Of ' Phylicia ' My Wife '
Outline Introduction: Personal narrative Phylicia, my wife, was in class in West Mesquite High
school in Texas, like usual. During a break given to her by her teacher she found her group of girls
she always talked to. They started to have small talk and to make jokes. The chuckles of young
school girls could be heard throughout the entire class room. One of the girls made a comment that
shifted the conversation. "Who do you live with?" asked one of the girls to Phylicia. "I live with my
mom and stepdad" answered Phylicia, "Who do you live with?" she asked in return. One of the other
girls chimed in "Oh I live with my mom," with a casual sound to her voice. The next girl answered
the question "I live with my mom and step dad," with a similar nonchalant tone to her voice. The
last girl answered "I live with my mom and dad." They sat there staring at her like a Martian. The
concept of having both parents still together was as alien as anything could have been to my wife,
Phylicia, and her friends. All of the girls were confused by the response. They didn't understand
what she was saying and one asked "No, who do you live with? Your mom and stepdad or your dad
and step mom?" Her friend replied, "No, I live with my mom and my dad. As in they're married and
we all live together." They couldn't believe it. None of them lived with both their parents; this was
an anomaly for them, both parents. After her friends comment they all began to tease her and make

decreasing price; lately priced were on flow controllers, but no impact on demand was observed!!! (
hint for some problem!
– Solution: replace the actual cost system (allocation of MOH based on DL$) with an ABC system.
5 activities are identified (machine related, machine setup, receiving and production control,
engineering, and packaging/shipping. The new system reveals that Wilkerson is losing money on
flow controllers, while valves and pumps are not so bad in terms of profit margins
– Limitations of the analysis: ABC is expensive (5 cost pools instead of 1!); SG&A not considered
in the case; communication issues

Space and Mars's Habitability
Synopsis: This research involves discovering how Martian astronauts might deal with their supplies
during a long– term mission to Mars and on Mars. The goal is to show that people can develop
technologies to help humans survive in space and on Mars in the future, such as producing food,
recycling water and air, and storing energy. The important technology is the Controlled Ecological
Life–Support System (CELSS) that can help in dealing with the supply issues as well as some
possible methods to make energy on Mars. The overall approach of this mission is to create
background knowledge about space habitability for humans in the manned mission to Mars. Upon
researching this issue, I have found that with such powers of invention people should ... Show more

The weight of those supplies affects the efficiency of a launch. It is too heavy for the spacecraft to
take off and overcome the gravitational pull of the Earth to get into space. We know that astronauts
traveling to Mars would not be able to stay for a couple days or weeks like the Apollo space
mission. Rather, the Martian astronauts will need to remain in space at least one to three years
during the mission (NASA 2012). If we spend more than nine months in space, we have to build a
shelter which can protect the astronauts from being exposure to radiation risk from the Sun (NASA
N.d.a). Therefore, we need to have good shielding, such as water and cement, but they are very
heavy. Additionally, the astronauts have to bring food, drinking water, air, clothes, medical supplies,
and other things that they need for the mission. All of these things added up together will take about
three million pounds. That is infeasible for them to make it all at once because a spacecraft just only
lift fifty thousand pounds against the Earth's gravity into space. So, they have to make sixty
launches for their supplies to be on Mars. It takes a longer time and costs a lot of money (NASA
N.d.a).
Therefore, astronauts can just bring with them some canned foods that are dehydrated and preserved
to keep the foods for a long time and to save weight for the spacecraft (NASA 2012). Also, soybeans
and wheat are suitable because they are light weight, very nutritious, and take a small amount of

Overall, 1 in 4 respondents outsources less than 20% of their logistics operations to 3PLs. Is this is a
sign that shippers are hesitant to allow too much ownership of their supply chain to outside
companies, or that they prefer to bring the expertise into their own logistics division? Concerns over
integrating the two businesses into a successful working relationship and ensuring mutually viable
contract terms could also be factors in the decision against outsourcing a large percentage of key
business operations.

Outsourcing of Aviation Maintenance Practices and the Effects of Globalization
Matthew Wilkerson
Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University Worldwide
May 16, 2016 Abstract
Within the aviation industry outsourced maintenance practices have become increasingly more
prevalent to maintain current assets. There is generally three processes currently being utilized by
the airline industry: outsourcing specific maintenance needs, in–house operations, and lastly, a
hybrid approach, which entails a combination of outsourcing and in–house. How these are applied
and to what extent are driven by each company and their own unique needs. This paper compares
and contrasts the advantages and disadvantages of outsourcing maintenance practices as well as the
effects of globalization on the airline industry. Outsourcing of Aviation Maintenance Practices and
the Effects of Globalization
Outsourcing is defined as the process utilized when a company decides to subcontract its business
processes or functions to another company; therefore, instead of hiring employees to perform a task,
the company (outsourcer) enters into an outsourcing arrangement with another firm to provide these
services under contract for a certain price and period (Motiwalla & Thompson, 2012, p.268). This
paper expands on the notions of outsourcing and the effects it has had on the airline industry by
briefly discussing the advantages and disadvantages associated with outsourcing and the effects of
globalization on the

Cultural Diversity
What kinds of clothes do you wear? What types of music do you like? What foods do you eat? Your
clothing, music, and foods, along with other factors such as religion, family structure, and values,
are all part of your culture. Culture refers to the attitudes, values, customs, and behavior patterns that
characterize a social group (Banks, 2001). The enormous impact of culture is illustrated by its
influence on all aspects of our lives (Gollnick & Chinn, 2002). An activity as basic as eating is one
example:
●
Culture not only helps to determine what foods we eat, but it also influences when we eat (for
example, one, three, or five meals and at what time of the day); with whom we eat (that is, only with
the same sex, with children or with the extended family); how we eat (for example, at a table or on
the floor; with chopsticks, silverware, or the fingers); and the ritual of eating (for example, in

Altitude Safety Essay
Changes in altitude have a profound effect on the human body. The body attempts to maintain a state
of homeostasis or balance to ensure the optimal operating environment for its complex chemical
systems. Any change from this homeostasis is a change away from the optimal operating
environment. The body attempts to correct this imbalance. One such imbalance is the effect of
increasing altitude on the body's ability to provide adequate oxygen to be utilized in cellular
respiration. With an increase in elevation, a typical occurrence when climbing mountains, the body
is forced to respond in various ways to the changes in external environment. Foremost of these
changes is diminished ability to obtain oxygen from the atmosphere. If the ... Show more content on

At the base of the pharynx are two openings. One, the esophagus, leads to the digestive system
while the other, the glottis, leads to the lungs. The epiglottis covers the glottis when swallowing so
that food does not enter the lungs. When the epiglottis is not covering the opening to the lungs air
may pass freely into and out of the trachea. The trachea sometimes called the "windpipe" branches
into two bronchi, which in turn lead to a lung. Once in the lung the bronchi branch many times into
smaller bronchioles, which eventually terminate in small sacs called alveoli. It is in the alveoli that
the actual transfer of oxygen to the blood takes place. The alveoli are shaped like inflated sacs and
exchange gas through a membrane. The passage of oxygen into the blood and carbon dioxide out of
the blood is dependent on three major factors: 1) the partial pressure of the gases, 2) the area of the
pulmonary surface, and 3) the thickness of the membrane (Gerking, 1969). The membranes in the
alveoli provide large surface areas for the free exchange of gasses. The typical thickness of the
pulmonary membrane is less than the thickness of a red blood cell. The pulmonary surface and the
thickness of the alveolar membranes are not directly affected related to altitude and affects gas
transfer in the alveoli.

behavior of gases. Each gas in our atmosphere exerts its

The Death Penalty Is Justified
Introduction
"Progress lies not in enhancing what is, but in advancing toward what will be" (Khalil Gibran).
Every day the world is advancing. From how humans communicate and travel, to how humans
learn, or utilize technology. Everything is being critiqued and criticized in some way, shape, or form.
Whether it is with clothing, cars, or new ways to punish people, the world is constantly coming up
with something new. The death penalty has been around for the longest time. It is used to punish
"wrongdoers" ("Origins of Capital Punishment"). The death penalty takes the individuals lives to
"pay for the crimes" that they did. The logic statement behind the death penalty is, "A life for a life"
("Origins of Capital Punishment").
One of the very first documents that was in favor of the death penalty was the "Code of
Hammurabi" (King). This document was written on "stone tablets" in 1760 BC ("Origins of Capital
Punishment"). The Code of Hammurabi was written by Hammurabi, a Babylonian ruler. He wrote
this document on stone tablets. The Code of Hammurabi contains 282 laws. However, for some
reason, laws 66 through 99 are missing. The laws that are most recognized are law 196 which
basically states "an eye for an eye" and law 200 "a tooth for a tooth" ("Hammurabi and His Code of
Laws – Hammurabi 's Laws"). These laws are still used as a thought basis today. The quote that is
always repeated whether exact words or in similar words, "Do to others as you would have them do
to you"

The new agreement addresses the shifting preferences of consumers who appear more reluctant to
buy DVDs in a shaky U.S. economy and a wider array of entertainment options. Terms of the latest
deal also cover Warner Bros. titles made available for streaming to Netflix customers. Streaming is
an increasingly important part of the company 's strategy in the digital age; the number of
subscribers who streamed a movie or television episode from Netflix jumped by 20% over the third
quarter of last year. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, owned by Time Warner Inc. (TWX),
announced its intention several months ago to renegotiate terms with Netflix. Time Warner Chief
Executive Jeff Bewkes told investors in September that the previous deal 's economics didn 't "make
sense" for the studio. Most DVD sales come in the first weeks of a title 's release. In October,
Netflix CEO Reed Hastings said his company would not be opposed to a "sales–only" window of
about a month at any studio, as long as Netflix could reach favorable terms. "We 've been discussing
new approaches with Warner Bros. for some time now and believe we 've come up with a creative
solution that is a 'win–win ' all around," said Ted Sarandos, chief content officer for Netflix, in a
statement. Ron Sanders, president of Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, said "The 28–day window

How Does Aristotle Contribute To A Starving Child
This paper will discuss the ethical question, "if you had the choice of stealing food to give to a
starving child, would you?" The question will be discussed from the perspective of three ethical
philosophers, Aristotle, Thomas Aquinas, and Nietzsche.
Aristotle
Aristotle was an ancient Greek philosopher of the 4th century BCE (Anonymous, n.d.). As explained
by Sachs (n.d.), Aristotle believed "moral virtue is the only practical road to effective action."
Practicing ethics, for Aristotle, is an active, conscious decision. Each decision should be meditated
upon with the object of creating a virtuous life. Aristotle did not believe in strict, pre–determined
rules that demand no thought process behind them. It is true he believed virtue ethics to be a habit,
but not an instinctual one. Aristotle would say "choose an action knowingly, out of a stable
equilibrium of the soul, and for its own sake" (Sachs, n.d.).
Approached with the quandary of stealing to feed a starving child, Aristotle would reflect upon

This is because the act of stealing would reflect poorly on his character; it is not a virtuous thing to
do. He said "even in cases of urgent necessity, when there is a choice about whom to benefit, one
should first decide whether the scale tips toward the necessary or the beautiful thing" (Sachs, n.d.).
Feeding the starving child would be a beautiful act, of course, but in the grand scheme of things it
would not be a lasting one. The child would be hungry again the next day, and if one choose to steal
the first day, one would have to choose to steal every day, thereby marring one's character. I believe
Aristotle would find a long–lasting solution to the starving child's situation. He would share his own
food, giving happiness to them both, or he would procure help from another for the child, letting
them both share in the virtue of assisting the less

Certain models predict that drought activity is expected to increase toward the end of the 21st
century and particularly in the Colorado River Basin (MacDonald & Turner, 21260). When the dam
was built in the early 20th century, annual flow was about 17.0 MAF (million acre–feet) at Lees
Ferry, Arizona which is a few miles below the dam. Estimates calculating the past MAF of the
Colorado River average to about 13.8–14.6 over the last 450 years. Thus, the dam was built in a
period with an unexpectedly high MAF. Alarmingly in 2000 the river averaged less than 9 MAF.
(Bolin, Seetharam, & Pompeii, 263). In 2002, the river reached a low of about 6.2 MAF
(MacDonald & Turner, 21256). Some models estimate that the river could reach the range of 1.5 to
4.5 MAF in the next 30–50 years. (Bolin, Seetharam, & Pompeii, 271). The reduction of MAF in the
Colorado River is due to drought. Droughts have been occurring throughout the 20th century with
droughts from 1900–1904, 1924–1936, 1953–1964, and 1988–1991. These droughts are associated
with warmer regional temperatures and the level of warming is deemed exceptional for the 21st
century (MacDonald & Turner, 21257). Recently the Colorado River has experienced the lowest 5
year mean flows on record (MacDonald & Turner, 21257). If river flow is low, so is Lake Powell's
water level. One study suggests that Lake Powell have a 50% chance of receding to inoperable
status by the 2020's

Business Complexity And Guided Change Essay
Business complexity and socio–technical uncertainty are two change methods. Choosing one over
the other depends on the situation. For example, business complexity can be a large organization
with many components. These can include diverse teams, stakeholders, and products. With this type
of organization, using the guided change method would be most beneficial. Guided change is an
iterative process. It is good when multiple stakeholders need to make decesions. They can be
changed in direction due to the complexity of the organization. This includes considering guided
change when the change affects different business units and hierarchical rank. Socio–technical
uncertainty is the information and decesions needed to make a change. In this environment, the
processes and work are exactly known to the organization. "Based on the extent to which the tasks
involved are determined, established, or exactly known" (Buono and Kerber, 2010, p.8). The work
tasks are open and the work processes can be repeated easily between team members. In this
environment, employees can be directed to follow changes. In this case, the guided approach is
appropriate. Change starts at the top, employees are directed to new directions, and the change
leadership is notified then command. 2. Building change capacity (and readiness) in organizations
is, according to this article, a key condition for sustainable organizational change. What is the
meaning of this concept "change capacity and

Gary Hamel (2011) spoke on the essence of: the reinvention of management techniques which,
challenged managers to rethink how they perform operational functions; in order to, create a solid
structure within the current market. Additionally, his [Hamel] presentation broke the seal on stagnate
managers and a need to reinvent themselves. Often in many organizational cultures there lays very
rigid, traditional and obsolete practices which struggles to remain existent. Organizations are now
flooded with multigenerational groups; where baby boomers sought to develop their succession plan
exit; now baby boomer are forecasted to have an large representation within the future workforce
alongside generation X and Y's. In the past, managers were more seasoned, traditional in
administration processes and managed a younger workforce. Due to the current market shift [and
potentially the future], managers are comprised of recent college graduates, ingenuities on
developments, and overseers of both seasoned and youthful employees. The idea of managing the
future workforce will require nuggets given by Gary Hamal (2011): (1) Challenge the change which

finance. Finance has three main career paths: financial management, financial markets and
institutions, and investments. Financial management involves managing the finances of a business.
Financial managers–people who manage a business firm's finances–perform a number of tasks.
They analyze and forecast a firm's finances; assess risk, evaluate investment opportunities, decide
when and where to find money sources and how much money to raise, and decide how much money
to return to the firm's investors. Bankers, stockbrokers, and others who work in financial markets
and institutions focus on the flow of money through financial institutions and the markets in which
financial assets are exchanged. They track the impact of interest rates on the flow of that money.
People who work in the field of investments locate, select, and manage income–producing assets.
For instance, security analysts and mutual fund managers both operate in the investment field. 3.

The Effects of Social Media on Traditional Marketing: A Review

  • 1. The Effects of Social Media on Traditional Marketing and... The Effects of Social Media on Traditional Marketing and Advertising Social media is not new. Facebook has been around since 2004, YouTube since 2005, and Twitter in 2006. What is new is how social media sites like Facebook, YouTube and Twitter are affecting the way businesses market their products and services. Never before in our history have consumers been able to communicate so effortlessly with each other and with the businesses they frequent. Never before have businesses been able to interact and react to customer feedback so quickly and efficiently. However, just because businesses have the ability to use social media for their marketing and advertising efforts, does not necessarily mean they should. This paper intends to ... Using the multitude of resources the authors draw from, they study the results of a survey of several hundred companies using online marketing in order to determine the best practices for those advertising strategies. The authors ascertain that social media marketing is only as effective as the prevailing psychological factors in which social media works. These factors are inherent in human communication, not only on the internet, but in the real world as well. The authors state that there are communities of people using social media and that "these communities often thrive because the members primarily are drawn to one another. The importance of person–to–person affinity – and the ability to interact with these other humans – typically trumped the role of the sponsor's goods or services or the presence of other features in the online communities." (Moran 232) What the authors are saying is that social media is a new tool in order to bring similar consumers together and that if a company wants to be successful in social media marketing, they must concentrate on the human connection rather than their product or services. According to "Social marketing meets interactive media" published in the 2011 issue of the International Journal of Advertising, Ronald Hill and Nora Moran draw from the work of multiple authors from multiple publications. Using the multitude of resources the authors draw from, they seek to resolve the dilemma of how models of social ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

INTRODUCTION The chapter examines the background of the study, statement of the problem, objectives of the study, research questions, significance of the study, scope of the study, limitations of the study and conceptual framework adopted for the study. 1. Background of the Study SOS Children's Village is a private non–political social welfare organization whose primary goal is to provide permanent homes and education to orphaned and abandoned children. SOS Children's Villages was founded by Hermann Gmeiner who after witnessing the suffering of children in the second world war established the first SOS CV in Imnst, Austria. Currently there are 450 SOS Children's Villages worldwide in over 132 countries. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Such arrangements challenge both our legal and social definitions of organizations as business practice outpaces legal and regulatory policy–especially in areas such as internal competitiveness and trade, intellectual property, privacy, security, family, community, education and culture (Applegate, 2003). These rapid changes call for rapid, revision and overhaul of HR strategies. The HR executives have a big challenge in ensuring that the HR strategies are tailored in such a way as to embrace these technological advances. The types of opportunities pursued by an organization and the technology employed strongly influence the approach taken to developing, operating and managing IT especially in formulating and implementing HR strategies. As IT infrastructure becomes more standardized, modular and scalable, a shift in IT investment priorities and decisions from a cost– avoidance, project centered approach to an asset– based strategic option approach and these impacts on HR strategies. The implication of IT on HR strategies is diverse since HR strategies flow from business strategies. A business strategy such as obtaining competitive advantage leads to emerging of HR strategies e.g. performance management, reward strategy and employee resourcing strategy. Thus ICT can be used effectively to source, develop and retain competent employees, reward them

  • 13. Rape In The Film: The Invisible War Rape is not just an issue in the military but; gender discrimination is one as well. This will exist until stricter rules and policies are set in place. The United States Military and all its branches have to change their mindsets and judgments of its soldiers and military personnel. If enough measures are not taken to defeat this problem, rape and assault in the United States Military will continue to be rampant. The government is attempting to introduce new legislation to counter and halt rape from occurring in the United States Military. The film exposes rape victims, retaliations and the disregard in the United States Military concerning rape. This film was not endorsed by the United States Military nor by the government, but by civilians like film Director Kirby Dick and film Producer Amy Ziering, who are declaring the problem in the United States Military and exposing the truth." Focusing on the powerfully emotional stories of rape victims, The Invisible War exposes the systemic cover–up of military sex crimes, chronicling the women's struggles to rebuild their lives and fight for justice. • 15. The Great Migration Without The Great Migration, or the migration of African Americans from 1915 to 1970 from the south to the north, the north would have suffered economically (Wilkerson 8). Specifically, without the Great Migration, the north would have faced extensive job shortages, that would have eventually led to economic turmoil. One cause of The Great Migration was the need for southern African Americans to take industrial jobs in the north. Furthermore, during times of war, many men were removed from the workforce, meaning that the north needed additional workers to fill the now vacated spots. (The Great) The north needed the southern African Americans in order to fill these slots, and without them, the north's economy would have suffered ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During World War I, 4,734,991 people were involved, during World War II 16,112,566 were involved, during the Korean War, 5,720,000 were involved, and during the Vietnam War, 8,744,000 were involved. (America's) These created a situation where large amounts of people were removed from their jobs. These jobs needed to be filled, along with the myriad of other jobs that were created during the migration. Southern African Americans seemed to be a solution, as they were trying to get out of their current situations, and the north needed workers. At times, northern companies sent recruiters to draw more southern African American to work in the north. (The Great)The north needed people to take these jobs, and southern African Americans fit the bill. While some of these jobs created by wars and by industrialization were taken by immigrants, this group could not have accounted and taken all the jobs that needed to be filled in the north. First, immigrants were not being accepted at an extremely high rate during the Great Migration. Right before the United States entered the first world war, the number of legal immigrants dropped by nearly one million, with the number in 1917 being 295,403. During the Great Migration, the highest amount of legal immigrants coming into the United States was 805,228 in 1921, and the lowest amount of legal immigrants coming in being 23,725 in 1943, during a ... Whilevolume–based costing is implicitly based on an assumption that there's a direct relationship between volume of production of individual products and level of overhead, activity–based costing allowsfinding individual relationships between volume of production and different overheads. It becomespossible due to combining overheads into cost pools and allocating these cost pools to products inproportion to selected cost drivers that reflect these individual relationships between volume of production and level of overheads.Wilkerson should pool overheads into five groups (cost pools): machine–related expenses, setuplabor cost, receiving and production control, engineering, packaging and shipment. The next step ischoosing most appropriate cost drivers that reflect the relationship between volume of productionof individual products and level of overheads. Machine hours are the most natural cost driver formachine–related expenses. Both setup and receiving, and production control activities are changedin proportion to number of production runs. • 19. Social Exclusion In The Fever Van Social workers engage with some of the most vulnerable demographics in the population in order to facilitate change, development, and empowerment (AASW, 2010). Consequently, themes such as illness, adversity, grief, and resilience are all topics explored extensively within the domain (Rosen & Zeira, 2000). These themes evident in The Fever Van are encountered, better understood, and mediated through the use of research based theories. Using such theories, the aforementioned themes will be explored through the lens of The Fever Van. When engaging in social work it is of the utmost importance that practitioners enlist the use of sensitivity and inclusive practice when addressing vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals (Chenoweth & McAuliffe, 2012). Social exclusion and marginalisation are factors that serve to disempower and isolate people. An individual can suffer social exclusion as a result of several different factors such as gender, race, or religion. This identified difference fosters power dynamics which operate against the rights of those who are 'othered' (Chenoweth & McAuliffe, 2012). In the case of The Fever Van, the social exclusion at risk of occurring is due to the illness of the child and the perceived contamination of the family. The assumptions made about those involved contributes to ostracization and inequality between groups. It furthermore results in responses such as prejudice and discrimination (Lum, 2007). Disengagement with the family of a child who was sick was common and those who earned a living through food were often forced out of business. When engaging with circumstances such as this, it is integral to employ cultural competency, whereby the practitioner recognises the value and strengths of the individual in question. Reflective practice is also important as it allows social workers to analyse their own assumptions and beliefs regarding the issue (Mullaly, 2007). Perceived differences and social exclusion are rampant throughout social work history. Another example of this can be seen in the former British migrant children (Irizarry & Kleanthi, 2004). These girls were ostracised and discriminated against due to their English roots. However, through the use of sensitivity, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. The Effects Of Different Types Of Carbon Taxes On The... Introduction This paper examines the effects of different types of carbon taxes on the market share of different electricity generation technologies, particularly between renewable and fossil fuel generators. The Global Change Assessment Model (GCAM) was used for this analysis because it includes detailed representations of the technologies in the electricity sector. Given a constraint on emissions or a certain carbon tax, GCAM will determine the least cost methods of supplying energy in different sectors. We found that the share of low–carbon generation will increase as the carbon tax increases and the share of renewables generally increases with the implementation of a carbon tax. Additionally, the timing of renewable market share ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... GCAM is a dynamic–recursive model that utilizes a solution algorithm that is based on a market equilibrium. It consists of three core modules: a) Energy, b) Agriculture and land–use, and c) Model for Assessment of Greenhouse–gas Induced Climate Change (MAGICC). "Regional population and labor productivity growth assumptions drive the energy and land–use systems employing numerous technology options" (JGCRI, n.d.). The "GDP is a simple labor–productivity model with an energy– GDP feedback elasticity" (JGCRI, 2014). Technology change is modeled using an autonomous energy efficiency index (AEEI) parameter. The choice of generation mix of technologies in GCAM is based on a logit model, which includes the relative cost, logit exponents, and share weights of each technology. The logit approach controls the distribution of market share between technologies or fuels in response to price changes as represented by equation (1). (1) Share(i) =swi .Ci–iswi .Ci– where Ciis the cost of the ith technology, swiis the share–weight of ith technology and is the logit exponent. A high valued logit exponent means that technology's market shares are more responsive to changes in costs. The share weights are calibrated parameters based on the base ... • 23. The Issue Of Gun Rights Gun Rights Even though congressional gun–related legislation remains stalemated, there is still a continued argument over whether laws should be enacted to restrict guns or not enacted to allow gun rights. Not allowing law abiding citizens, who support the constitution, to exercise their rights to obtain and own firearms is unjust. Not only does this lead to making all gun owners criminals, it also makes them easy targets. Citizens who pass background checks should be allowed to obtain and possess firearms and be able to have concealed carry. Congress should not enact gun control laws because American's have the right to protect themselves against criminals who usually find ways around gun restrictions. Rather than hastily passing gun control laws, Congress should pass laws and focus on issues like awareness and treatment of mental illnesses. Citizens of the United States have the Constitutional right to bear arms. The Second Amendment of the Constitution reads: "A well– regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." Not to mention that the military fights and dies for rights given to us via the Constitution. • 29. Analysis Of Johnson & Johnson And Johnson Company Essay When seven people in Chicago died from cyanide–laced Tylenol tablets in 1982, Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) responded in a manner that not only saved the company's future, but also saved lives (Knight, 1982). JNJ reacted to the shocking news of the over–the–counter drug–related deaths with compassion, urgency and honesty. JNJ aimed at showing the public that the company was as much of a victim as the consumers were, and vowed to resolve the issue and keep the media and consumers involved and aware, as per the company credo (Our Credo; Rehak, 2002). JNJ's timely response set a precedence by which public relations practitioners would model and businesses would strive to achieve. Background General Company Background In 1886, Robert Wood Johnson, Edward Mead Johnson, and James Wood Johnson formed Johnson & Johnson company and quickly expanded the company in the late 19th century (Johnson & Johnson History, n.d.). The company created products that were aimed at improving health and personal hygiene and published books and manuals that instructed sterile surgery methods, wound treatments and women's health care (Johnson & Johnson History, n.d.). JNJ began the practice of providing money and supplies for disaster relief in 1900 when the company assisted victims of a hurricane in Galveston, Texas (Johnson & Johnson, n.d.). The company started out with a very unique and more efficient way of designing the valves and it was better than any of the other competition that also made valves. And this actually helped them establish a loyal customer base since they were so innovative and had the best quality at the time. They are looking for help since they are having issues with the decline in their company's profits. This has created a bit of an issue for the company as well since the gross margins for the pumps are down lower than expected. Problem The valves that the company makes are produced using four different machine components and are produced and shipped in large lots. Scott feels as if the competitors are now able to match their quality but have yet to try and gain market share by cutting the prices of their valves. Additionally, the pumps are made using five components from machines and then assembled into the final product. These are then shipping to the industrial companies that have purchased these pumps. One issue is that competitors keep lowering their prices on their own pumps, so Wilkerson has to match these and lower their prices as well. This makes it hard for Wilkerson to keep their gross margin profits up since their prices continue to lower. Last, the flow controllers need more labor and machining components than either the pumps or the valves. Additionally, there are many other alternatives that are used in the industry so more product runs are needed for these versus the pumps or valves. Also, more shipments are needed for these since there are shipped to industrial companies. The flow controllers were doing better than the valves or the pumps since Wilkerson was able to raise their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

That's 2.5 million kids who experienced not having a home. People who are unsheltered experience the worst of the worst from being exposed to disease and being vulnerable to robberies for their little possessions that they own. We could end this epidemic or at least help in a multitude of ways such as moving them into permanent housing, implementing assistance programs to keep their housing, and prevention and stability action. Permanent housing has been proven to be effective as well as cost efficient. • 35. The Us Strategy For Winning The Global War On Terrorism In light of this, it should be mentioned that "the US strategy for winning the Global War on Terrorism is predicated on creating an international environment inhospitable to terrorists and all those who support them" (Fogarty 2001). Meaning, that the fight against terrorism heavily relies on international cooperation. In order to achieve such a feat, nevertheless, America must be amiable by fellow governments and their citizens. Unfortunately, the reports and findings on GTMO makes it increasingly difficult for the American administration to do so, for the inhumane treatment makes citizens of other countries upset. Quoting General Colin Powell, people from other nation states are "beginning to doubt the moral basis of our fight against terrorism" (Duberstein as cited in Washington Monthly 2008). This proves to be an immense hindrance to the war, as America cannot hope to face all of the world's terrorists alone. To put this in perspective, one can take a look at the situation with Turkey and Russia. Earlier this year, a Russian jet was shot down by Turkey, having flown into the latter 's airspace without permission (BBC 2015). Granted, there lies in factors such as the decades long animosity between the two countries. Albeit, who's to say that America's relations with countries will never reach such lows? Rather, previous Secretary of Defence Chuck Hagel says that "one of the greatest long–term dangers America faces is that we are now mistrusted by many nations, even our ... During a break given to her by her teacher she found her group of girls she always talked to. They started to have small talk and to make jokes. The chuckles of young school girls could be heard throughout the entire class room. One of the girls made a comment that shifted the conversation. "Who do you live with?" asked one of the girls to Phylicia. "I live with my mom and stepdad" answered Phylicia, "Who do you live with?" she asked in return. One of the other girls chimed in "Oh I live with my mom," with a casual sound to her voice. The next girl answered the question "I live with my mom and step dad," with a similar nonchalant tone to her voice. The last girl answered "I live with my mom and dad." They sat there staring at her like a Martian. The concept of having both parents still together was as alien as anything could have been to my wife, Phylicia, and her friends. All of the girls were confused by the response. They didn't understand what she was saying and one asked "No, who do you live with? Your mom and stepdad or your dad and step mom?" Her friend replied, "No, I live with my mom and my dad. As in they're married and we all live together." They couldn't believe it. None of them lived with both their parents; this was an anomaly for them, both parents. After her friends comment they all began to tease her and make fun of her. Looking ... The goal is to show that people can develop technologies to help humans survive in space and on Mars in the future, such as producing food, recycling water and air, and storing energy. The important technology is the Controlled Ecological Life–Support System (CELSS) that can help in dealing with the supply issues as well as some possible methods to make energy on Mars. The weight of those supplies affects the efficiency of a launch. It is too heavy for the spacecraft to take off and overcome the gravitational pull of the Earth to get into space. We know that astronauts traveling to Mars would not be able to stay for a couple days or weeks like the Apollo space mission. Rather, the Martian astronauts will need to remain in space at least one to three years during the mission (NASA 2012). If we spend more than nine months in space, we have to build a shelter which can protect the astronauts from being exposure to radiation risk from the Sun (NASA N.d.a). Therefore, we need to have good shielding, such as water and cement, but they are very heavy. Additionally, the astronauts have to bring food, drinking water, air, clothes, medical supplies, and other things that they need for the mission. All of these things added up together will take about three million pounds. That is infeasible for them to make it all at once because a spacecraft just only lift fifty thousand pounds against the Earth's gravity into space. So, they have to make sixty launches for their supplies to be on Mars. It takes a longer time and costs a lot of money (NASA N.d.a). Therefore, astronauts can just bring with them some canned foods that are dehydrated and preserved to keep the foods for a long time and to save weight for the spacecraft (NASA 2012). Outsourcing of Aviation Maintenance Practices and the Effects of Globalization Matthew Wilkerson Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University Worldwide May 16, 2016 Abstract Within the aviation industry outsourced maintenance practices have become increasingly more prevalent to maintain current assets. There is generally three processes currently being utilized by the airline industry: outsourcing specific maintenance needs, in–house operations, and lastly, a hybrid approach, which entails a combination of outsourcing and in–house. How these are applied and to what extent are driven by each company and their own unique needs. This paper compares and contrasts the advantages and disadvantages of outsourcing maintenance practices as well as the effects of globalization on the airline industry. Outsourcing of Aviation Maintenance Practices and the Effects of Globalization Outsourcing is defined as the process utilized when a company decides to subcontract its business processes or functions to another company; therefore, instead of hiring employees to perform a task, the company (outsourcer) enters into an outsourcing arrangement with another firm to provide these services under contract for a certain price and period (Motiwalla & Thompson, 2012, p.268). The body attempts to maintain a state of homeostasis or balance to ensure the optimal operating environment for its complex chemical systems. Any change from this homeostasis is a change away from the optimal operating environment. The body attempts to correct this imbalance. One such imbalance is the effect of increasing altitude on the body's ability to provide adequate oxygen to be utilized in cellular respiration. With an increase in elevation, a typical occurrence when climbing mountains, the body is forced to respond in various ways to the changes in external environment. Foremost of these changes is diminished ability to obtain oxygen from the atmosphere. If the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the base of the pharynx are two openings. When the epiglottis is not covering the opening to the lungs air may pass freely into and out of the trachea. The trachea sometimes called the "windpipe" branches into two bronchi, which in turn lead to a lung. Once in the lung the bronchi branch many times into smaller bronchioles, which eventually terminate in small sacs called alveoli. It is in the alveoli that the actual transfer of oxygen to the blood takes place. The alveoli are shaped like inflated sacs and exchange gas through a membrane. The passage of oxygen into the blood and carbon dioxide out of the blood is dependent on three major factors: 1) the partial pressure of the gases, 2) the area of the pulmonary surface, and 3) the thickness of the membrane (Gerking, 1969). The membranes in the alveoli provide large surface areas for the free exchange of gasses. The typical thickness of the pulmonary membrane is less than the thickness of a red blood cell. The pulmonary surface and the thickness of the alveolar membranes are not directly affected related to altitude and affects gas transfer in the alveoli. From how humans communicate and travel, to how humans learn, or utilize technology. Everything is being critiqued and criticized in some way, shape, or form. Whether it is with clothing, cars, or new ways to punish people, the world is constantly coming up with something new. The death penalty has been around for the longest time. It is used to punish "wrongdoers" ("Origins of Capital Punishment"). The death penalty takes the individuals lives to "pay for the crimes" that they did. The logic statement behind the death penalty is, "A life for a life" ("Origins of Capital Punishment"). One of the very first documents that was in favor of the death penalty was the "Code of Hammurabi" (King). This document was written on "stone tablets" in 1760 BC ("Origins of Capital Punishment"). The Code of Hammurabi was written by Hammurabi, a Babylonian ruler. He wrote this document on stone tablets. The Code of Hammurabi contains 282 laws. However, for some reason, laws 66 through 99 are missing. The laws that are most recognized are law 196 which basically states "an eye for an eye" and law 200 "a tooth for a tooth" ("Hammurabi and His Code of Laws – Hammurabi 's Laws"). The question will be discussed from the perspective of three ethical philosophers, Aristotle, Thomas Aquinas, and Nietzsche. Aristotle Aristotle was an ancient Greek philosopher of the 4th century BCE (Anonymous, n.d.). As explained by Sachs (n.d.), Aristotle believed "moral virtue is the only practical road to effective action." Practicing ethics, for Aristotle, is an active, conscious decision. Each decision should be meditated upon with the object of creating a virtuous life. Aristotle did not believe in strict, pre–determined rules that demand no thought process behind them. It is true he believed virtue ethics to be a habit, but not an instinctual one. Aristotle would say "choose an action knowingly, out of a stable equilibrium of the soul, and for its own sake" (Sachs, n.d.). Feeding the starving child would be a beautiful act, of course, but in the grand scheme of things it would not be a lasting one. The child would be hungry again the next day, and if one choose to steal the first day, one would have to choose to steal every day, thereby marring one's character. Certain models predict that drought activity is expected to increase toward the end of the 21st century and particularly in the Colorado River Basin (MacDonald & Turner, 21260). When the dam was built in the early 20th century, annual flow was about 17.0 MAF (million acre–feet) at Lees Ferry, Arizona which is a few miles below the dam. Estimates calculating the past MAF of the Colorado River average to about 13.8–14.6 over the last 450 years. Thus, the dam was built in a period with an unexpectedly high MAF. Alarmingly in 2000 the river averaged less than 9 MAF. (Bolin, Seetharam, & Pompeii, 263). In 2002, the river reached a low of about 6.2 MAF (MacDonald & Turner, 21256). Some models estimate that the river could reach the range of 1.5 to 4.5 MAF in the next 30–50 years. (Bolin, Seetharam, & Pompeii, 271). The reduction of MAF in the Colorado River is due to drought. Droughts have been occurring throughout the 20th century with droughts from 1900–1904, 1924–1936, 1953–1964, and 1988–1991. These droughts are associated with warmer regional temperatures and the level of warming is deemed exceptional for the 21st century (MacDonald & Turner, 21257). Recently the Colorado River has experienced the lowest 5 year mean flows on record (MacDonald & Turner, 21257). If river flow is low, so is Lake Powell's water level. One study suggests that Lake Powell have a 50% chance of receding to inoperable status by the 2020's ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The work tasks are open and the work processes can be repeated easily between team members. In this environment, employees can be directed to follow changes.
