The document describes Armorweave 3D fabrics produced by Propex Inc. that provide four key advantages: shock absorption, cushioning, lightweight strength, and breathability. The fabrics feature a unique three-dimensional design that allows them to effectively combine these advantages for applications like helmets, footwear, backpacks, and military gear. Propex can customize the fabrics' construction to meet specific application needs.

3D ArmorWeave fabrics provide lightweight strength & breathability

Lightweight strength. BreathaBLe comfort.
2. 3D fabrics DesigneD for better stability,
better cusHion—anD better Performance
The materials in today’s industrial applications are good at providing one
advantage or another. The problem? It takes many materials to provide all
the advantages you need, which adds weight and ends up diluting overall
performance. But our line of Armorweave® 3D fabrics is designed to pro-
vide four key enhancements—shock absorption, cushioning, light weight
and breathability—for better protection and superior performance. Each
of these high-performance synthetic materials, including our honeycomb
weave and tubular weave fabrics, features a unique three-dimensional
design and custom weave shape. This extremely durable, open construc-
tion allows our fabrics to provide all four advantages together, making
them the all-in-one solution for today’s advanced applications.

sHock absorPtion & attenuation
Armorweave 3D fabrics provide superior shock absorption and attenuation in a variety of
protective gear applications, including helmets, military vests and body padding. The fabrics’
three-dimensional characteristics allow them to absorb more impact for better body protection.
cusHioning & comfort
Because our 3D fabrics have a very low compression set, they can handle
applications requiring both comfortable cushioning and structure. While most
materials flatten to the “bottom out” point during use, our fabrics provide soft
comfort while maintaining their dimensional stability, and they “remember” their
shape even in continuous load-bearing situations. This makes them ideal for
applications such as seats, aircraft, boats, backpacks and more.
3. ligHt WeigHt
In addition to shock absorption and cushioning, our Armorweave ® 3D fabrics are specially
designed to provide lightweight performance. Because the fabrics feature a unique open
construction, they won’t absorb moisture or get heavy in wet conditions. Plus, they allow
you to reduce the overall weight of virtually any application while enhancing its perfor-
mance. For example, adding Armorweave 3D fabrics to a helmet allows you to use less
heavy foam padding, thus reducing weight while improving protection capabilities.
breatHability
Without proper airflow, today’s advanced applications can trap both air
and water, and are susceptible to heat gain. For example, while military
gear must provide protection, many soldiers get overheated because
the heat cannot escape. But our Armorweave 3D fabrics’ open material
design creates an airflow channel, which reduces body temperature
while keeping protection at optimum levels.
tHe best cHaracteristic—tHe combination of all four
Foam isn’t breathable or lightweight. Neither are plastics or other 3D fabrics. But Armorweave
3D fabrics combine all four characteristics—shock absorption, cushioning, light weight
and breathability—making our materials stand apart from any other on the market. You
get the best of all four qualities in one fabric for better protection and superior comfort.
