Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) is a set of birth defects that can occur in an infant whose mother drank alcohol during pregnancy. The effects of FAS may include abnormal facial features, growth problems, central nervous system issues, and other health problems. Drinking any amount of alcohol during pregnancy can potentially harm the developing fetus.
