"What I disagree with is the ideological commitment to
absolute minimum sentences in all circumstances, where the
government takes away the discretion of a judge, a lawyer, a
crown attorney, a probation officer who has prepared a pre-sentence
report and they say, perhaps, that in a minor
incident of possession of marijuana plants there is a better
solution than to throw the fellow in jail.”

currently flooding the U.S. with marijuana, the U.S.

"Each one of you here today has used the words “awareness”, “best

term that is widely used: “medical marijuana”. I don't believe there is
any awareness of it. I don't believe there are any best practices for it. I
don't believe there's been any data collection whatsoever. There's been
very little science done on it. There's very little reasoning as to why
we're doing it, especially when we have synthetic models of Marinol,
nabiximol, and dronabinol, which provide opportunities for those who are
affected by some significant diseases and can aid them."

"In a mailer sent out to his New Brunswick Southwest

wants to legalize marijuana and “display & sell it in

“Justin Trudeau has put out new ads to ethnic media to mislead Canadians about his pro-drug
legalization policies. The ad is false and dishonest. This ad is in direct response to
the outrage expressed by immigrant communities and parents across Canada who have
been clear that they do not support Justin Trudeau’s plan to legalize marijuana. The truth
about Justin Trudeau is that he will make marijuana legal in Canada. Justin Trudeau’s plan
will make it easier for kids to access drugs and will send a message to young people that
taking drugs is not a problem, making the difficult job of parents even harder. Only the
Conservative Government is committed to keeping illegal drugs out of the hands of kids

Former Canadian
Politicians Quotes
How does past parliamentarians feel about
Cannabis Prohibition?
Chrtien has always said he's never smoked pot, but
on Friday he said he might consider it. "I never
tried it. I said I might be able someday to do it," he
said.
Chrtien was more specific in an interview with a
Winnipeg newspaper. "Perhaps I will try it when it
will no longer be criminal," he said. "I will have my
money for my fine and a joint in the other hand."
Chrtien was referring to proposed legislation that
would decriminalize marijuana. People caught with
30 grams or less would be subject to a fine, not a
court appearance or a criminal record.

In an interview with Global TV’s The

praised Trudeau’s candour.
“It’s going to be a great positive for

I will bring up a term that is widely used: “medical marijuana”. I don't believe there is any awareness of it. I don't believe there are any best practices for it. I don't believe there's been any data collection whatsoever. There's been very little science done on it. There's very little reasoning as to why we're doing it, especially when we have synthetic models of Marinol, nabiximol, and dronabinol, which provide opportunities for those who are affected by some significant diseases and can aid them." • 16. Richmond (British Columbia) “Justin Trudeau has put out new ads to ethnic media to mislead Canadians about his pro-drug legalization policies. The ad is false and dishonest. This ad is in direct response to the outrage expressed by immigrant communities and parents across Canada who have been clear that they do not support Justin Trudeau’s plan to legalize marijuana. The truth about Justin Trudeau is that he will make marijuana legal in Canada. Justin Trudeau’s plan will make it easier for kids to access drugs and will send a message to young people that taking drugs is not a problem, making the difficult job of parents even harder. Only the Conservative Government is committed to keeping illegal drugs out of the hands of kids and off the streets." • 24. Chrtien has always said he's never smoked pot, but on Friday he said he might consider it. "I never tried it. I said I might be able someday to do it," he said. Chrtien was more specific in an interview with a Winnipeg newspaper. "Perhaps I will try it when it will no longer be criminal," he said. "I will have my money for my fine and a joint in the other hand." Chrtien was referring to proposed legislation that would decriminalize marijuana. People caught with 30 grams or less would be subject to a fine, not a court appearance or a criminal record. http://unschedulecannabis.blogspot.ca Posted: Oct 03, 2003 10:24 PM ET Last Updated: Oct 03, 2003 10:24 PM ET. “PM inflames marijuana opponents” CBC News http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/pm-inflames-marijuana-opponents-1.393718 Jean Chrétien 20th Prime Minister of Canada (Liberal) In office November 4, 1993 – December 12, 2003

Organized crime flourished in the days of alcohol prohibition; prices were artificially inflated; there was no regulation of age requirements; and the government lost tax revenues.
