What have youlearntabouttechnologiesfromthe processof constructing thisproduct?
ThroughoutthisprojectI have hadto use differenttechto
achieve the endgoal.The differenttechusedspreadfrom
hardware to software includingsome webapplications.The listof
whatI usedis showninthe box to the left.These include notonly
whatI usedto create movie openingbut alsowhatI usedtowrite
and publishmyworkduringthe creationof our movie opening.
Cameras
To record thiswe obviouslyhadtouse cameras.We all gota
chance to record but primarilythe mainpersononthe camera
was Jade,butlettingeachotherhave a go withthe camera
allowedustogeta feel of howcameraswork.The main thingI
learntaboutcameras whilstusingthemisahow theyreact with
lightandhow lightmayappearlighterordarker thanwhat you
may see yourself.
Mics and RecordingDevices
For some of the soundeffectswe hadtorecord some soundtobe usedinthe opening.The first
thingI learntwasto ensure thatboth the mic andthe recorderare turnedon,I foundthisout whenI
forgotto turn the mic on andendeduprecording no sound.Ialso foundthatwhat I recordeddidn’t
quite sound howas I imagined,althoughIfeel itmaybe todowiththe positionof the mic,as a result
of thisI foundthatthe soundeffectsthatwe got didn’tquite soundright. One of the voice recording
that I didwas withmyhome micthat I usedfor talkingtofriendsonline,thisisn’taprofessionalmic
of anysort, butisn’tbad qualityandsuited the situation.Ihave hadno previous experience withthis
level of recordingdevice before anddidn’tknow whatall the buttonsdidluckilyIonlyneeded
record,stop andplayfor playback.The mic wasa concept I understandalthough Iwasn’tuse tomics
that youhad to turn on,like the one I borrowedfromMedia.

To editthistogetherIusedMovie StudioPlatinum,
I have has some experience usingthisbeforebutI
had previouslyusedMoviePlus X6on a previous
projectinICT as it waswhat the school had at the
time.Bothpiecesof editingsoftware worksimilarly

2. meaningIdidn’tstruggle usingMovie StudioPlatinum,there weresomething’sthatIdidhave to get
usesto,such as UI whichIquestiontheirreasoningformakinglike that.Some of mycomplainswas
that insome of the pop-outsfortextinparticular,youcouldresize the window butitwouldn’tresize
the UI andyou wouldbe stuckwithhavingtouse sliderstonavigate.
Audacity
Audacitywasusedso thatI couldrecord some linesforthe openingtobe overlaidthe clip.The
basicswere easyto use,the bigrecordbuttonto record and the bigstop buttonto stop.The thingI
had problemswithwascleaningupthe audioandremove the backgroundnoise.The background
noise wasa resultof my home micthat I usedto recordwith,I foundouthow to do thisaftera quick
google afterIcouldn’tfindthe optioninthe tool bar, althoughaftercleaningthe audio,IfeltthatI
didit wrongas I had to manuallyselectthe areathat I wantedtoclear insteadof itclearingall of the
audio,I thensavedanddidany effectsandadjustmentsonMovie StudioasIhave more of an ideaof
howit shouldsoundwiththe restof the clip,alsoif I were to messupthe audioclipIcouldeasily
delete itandreplace itwithouteffectingthe original piece. Before thisIhadn’tusedAudacitybefore
althoughIhad seena friendof mine use ittoedita podcast that we do.
Photoshop
I enjoyedworkingwithPhotoshopduringthe creationof ourpiece.Ihave
previouslyusedPhotoshopalotalongwithdoinga topicabout photo
manipulationinICTinwhichIusedPhotoshopthere aswell,soitissafe to say
that any skillsandtechniquesIusedcreate imagesfor thisworkIalreadyknew.
I alsopreferredtouse Photoshoptoplace screenshotsinandcropthemdown
for thingslike BloggerandPrezi thatwouldneedanuploaded
image to be shown.
Photoshopwasmainlyusedtocreate the studiologo,the logo
consists of original contentcreatedonPhotoshopusingthe
pentool withno imagesgatheredoff the internet,Idid
wantto use a graphicstablettomake drawingiteasierbutI
was notable to geta holdof one.The longestpartwas creatingthe “gangster”
but once he was made it wasa matter of placinghimintoa silhouette of adoor
and addingtextanda shadow.
I usedthe pentool as it made creatingsmoothline withamouse easyandfast
alongwithbeingable toemulate penpressure withoutagraphicstablet.

3. Blogger
Bloggerwasusedas a central hub forour
mediawork.Before doingmediaIhadn’tused
bloggerbefore,Ihadhearabout itand knew
that the conceptwas and itworksquite like
howI wouldimagine.Ididhave some problems
withtextandimageshavingtextnotfitaround
imagesproperly,Ialsohadimagesthatwas too
bigfor the designatedbox,leavingthe blog
looksomewhatunsightly.
Prezi
For some of the workI usedPrezi,Prezi islike anonline
PowerPointpresentationbutusesone plain todisplayeverything andmovesfocusonareasof the
plainlike aslide show.Prezi allowsforthe abilitytozoominandout a large amountallowingtohave
a box of textwithinthe letter“a”forexample. Ihadn’tused
Prezi before doingmediasoIhad to learnhow it works,
althoughIfoundthisrelativelyeasytousesone Ihad an idea
of howthingsworkedonit.
SlideShare
Slideshare wasusedtoallowustouploadour documents
online,suchasworddocumentsandPowerPoints,ThisisanotherwebapplicationthatIhadn’tused
before doingmedia,butthe conceptissimple andwasverysimple touse,all the userhasto dois
clickthe uploadbuttonand navigate throughtheirfilestofindthe documentthatwishtoupload.To
getthe documentstoshow onour blogswe had to embedthe documenttothe blog,thisallowed
people tosee the documentonthe blog. Ihad some problemswithuploadingfailingonslideshare
but these didn’tbecome amajorissue. Thisdocument
wouldhave beenuploadedusingSlideshare.
YouTube
I thinkthat everyone hadusedYouTube before but
whethertheyhaduploadedbefore isadifferent
question.Forme Ihad previouslyusedanduploaded
to YouTube so uploadingwasn’tconfusingforme,althoughwhenusingmyhome computerIhad a
problemgettingthe uploadertoworkas it wasconstantly“loading”althoughaftersome research
thismay have somethingtodowithan anti-virusextensionthatIuse withChrome,soI’ll have to
have a lookintothat.
