"Here comes the story of the Hurricane"–Rubin Carter–the boxer, the man–who had justice stacked against him (Dylan, Bob). The question: What is

from jail after 19 years of being wrongfully imprisoned for a crime he never committed.
Rubin Carter in no way has experienced an easy life. He was born on May 6, 1937, in Clifton, New Jersey. At the time, Clifton was a very
controversial place to live. Blacks were being treated unfairly from birth because of the color of their skin. When he was about seven he moved with

They were then taken to a hospital where one surviving victim, who died later, said they weren't the killers. John and Rubin are released and were
"never suspects".
Later in 1966, Alfred P. Bello, a well–known criminal and a suspect himself, gave the police a signed statement claiming he saw Carter and Artis at the
murder scene. Carter and Artis were arrested and later indicted for the triple murders. An all–white jury convicted Carter and Artis. The prosecutor
wanted them to receive the death penalty, but the jury recommended mercy. They were sentenced to three life terms.
While in jail, Carter wanted people to know more about him, and how he was innocent. In 1974 he wrote his autobiography called The Sixteenth
Round, which was published by Viking Press. Around that time, Bello admitted that he never saw Artis or Carter at the scene of the crime, but Paterson
detectives pressured him into lying. They gave him $10,000 and promised that they would let him off on pending robbery charges.
In 1975, Carter sent a copy of his book to musician Bob Dylan because of his commitment to the struggle of civil rights. After Dylan read the book,
he came to the prison where Rubin was staying and talked with him. When he left he knew that Carter was innocent and also wanted to preach the

leading us to the suburbs of discontent. According to Hugh Heclo, "There came surge of personal discontent and social self–questioning that would

The Justice system did not treat Rubin Carter fairly because he was wrongfully convicted of murder. Carter was racially profiled because he was a

night? /Don't forget that you are white.'" By having the police officer use Bradley's race as a bargaining chip in his attempts to coax out an account
that labels carter as guilty, Dylan is implying that the entire white population of Paterson wanted to convict Carter because he was black. Moreover,
Dylan attributed the same officer as saying, "'We want to put his ass in stir/We want to pin this triple murder on him/He ain't no Gentleman Jim.'"
The word "pin" makes it seem as though the cops recognize that Carter is innocent, and that they really do only want to frame him, thus making his
arrest and conviction that much more disturbing. Also, the allusion to "Gentleman Jim" is in reference to James J. Corbett, a white heavyweight
boxer active from 1886 to 1903. This is significant because the cop seems to be saying that Rubin Carter is less than "Gentleman Jim" by virtue of

The Hurricane is a film by Norman Jewison. It is about Rubin "Hurricane" Carter, a black boxer wrongfully convicted for the murders of three
people in 1966. Two black men in a white car shot and killed three people in the Lafayette Bar & Grill. Carter and his black friend, John Artis, were
arrested for driving a white car and being black. The police assumed that Carter and Artis were guilty. The police then asked two witnesses– Bello and
Bradley – if Carter and Artis had shot at them. Both witnesses said that Carter and Artis had not shot at them. Carter and Artis were both found

My theme report looks at the issues of taking risks in order to overcome stereotypes, poor decisions from the past, and the make progress in life. I
learned from the theme study that if you take risks – and if you have the right personal qualities – you can change your world personally, and influence
others positively. The four films I watched for this report were Les Intouchables,Life of a King,12 years a slave and they all showed me the
consequences of risk taking which were either loss or great rewards in life.some of the results of risk taking I have discovered from these movies are it

A significant connection across the texts is the positive consequences in life that come from taking risks. The first similarity I see is that risk taking
