Meet our team.
Here at Salford, our curriculum reflects the needs of industry – and our research interests
are shaping commercial futures. You’ll learn with some of the UK’s leading researchers…
Expertise
Dr. Yvonne Moogan
Director of MBA programmes
Yvonne draws on a decade of directorial
experience to run our MBA programmes.
She also teaches Research Methods modules
to MBA and PhD students. Since joining
Salford Business School in 2014, she worked
with our team to refine courses and obtain
AMBA re-accreditation, and her focus is
constant improvement. Yvonne has supervised
postgraduate dissertation and project students
for more than twenty years. A renowned
independent researcher, she finds the
process exciting and vibrant – for valuable
information as well as unexpected findings.
She publishes in the area of HE student
decision-making and widening participation
issues, gaining extensive knowledge in areas
including: how and why potential students
decide to attend university; barriers to Higher
Education at stages within the decision-
making process; and disadvantaged pupils
and their motivation and perception, and
the influences at play. More recently she has
focused on international student performance
and the challenges this group faces – such as
‘culture shock’ in the HE environment – and
the internationalisation strategies of the UK
Higher Education market place.
Dr. Marie Griffiths
Director of the Centre of Digital Business
Reader and Director for our Centre of
Digital Business, Marie’s main research
focuses on the role of digital technologies
in the business setting, specialising in the
convergence of the ‘real’ and digital worlds
and the social influences of technology.
Her teaching focuses on Digital Innovation,
Information Security, and Information
Systems – she has recently been awarded
a VCs Distinguished Teaching award for
her innovative approach.
Her current research agenda centres upon
digital business and the significances of
digital innovative technologies, innovation
business models as enablers and value
creators. An additional body of research
looks at young people and digital media,
exploring their behaviour in virtual spaces,
and their roles as ‘prosumers’ in social
networking sites. Marie also researches
identity, privacy and surveillance
technologies in these areas. In the past,
live research projects have explored the
commercial and societal implications of
technological change.

Samuel’s Story
The MBA kicked my
start-up into gear.
‘Most universities pride themselves on a robust course
outline, triple accreditation, strong alumni base or Ivy
League credentials filled with foreign and local awards.
These are all great things, don’t get me wrong, and
Salford certainly competes.
But all too often more important things are
neglected in this large portfolio of achievements:
detailed attention to one’s needs, camaraderie,
incentive to study, an ecosystem of excellence based
on one’s unique potentials and a true support system.
SBS has all of this and more. And I think it is these
potentials displayed by Salford Business School that
sets it apart from its competitors.
I think the greatest advantage I’ve acquired so far is
the ability to learn, and put all that learning immediately
to practice. From managing organisational resources to
gaining the ability to be an effective leader, the School
has given me an edge in a very competitive market.
Another real positive is the relationships you develop
– both between students and tutors, and between
students and students. In my opinion Salford Business
School has created a dynamic foundation where
diversity is welcomed at an unprecedented level.
When you come here blending in is not an issue
– I felt right at home straight away.
If you’re thinking about an MBA, my advice would
be to consider first what you want to get out of the
experience. For me, it was the opportunity to create
my dream company and watch it grow. Through the
aid of our wonderful tutors and business school’s
administration team my dream is being actualized.’
Meet Samuel Otigba.
Samuel will complete his MBA Digital Business in 2016, using the qualification as a springboard
to launch an exciting web and mobile app, Gruvve Inc. The combination of specialist expertise,
personal support and broader business skills makes him confident about future success.
From managing organisational resources to gaining
the ability to be an effective leader, the School has
given me an edge in a very competitive market.
