4. Feeding on Ashes Isaiah 44:19-20 The person who made the idol never stops to reflect, “Why, it’s just a block of wood! I burned half of it for heat and used it to bake my bread and roast my meat. How can the rest of it be a god? Should I bow down to worship a piece of wood?” The poor, deluded fool feeds on ashes. He trusts something that can’t help him at all. Yet he cannot bring himself to ask, “Is this idol that I’m holding in my hand a lie?”
6. Ashes are bitter James 3: 11-12 11 Does a spring of water bubble out with both fresh water and bitter water? 12 Does a fig tree produce olives, or a grapevine produce figs? No, and you can’t draw fresh water from a salty spring. Hebrews 12:15 15 Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many.

8. Ashes make you sick Exodus 16 Take just enough for today, and don’t let any sit until tomorrow morning. Numbers 11:8 8 The people would go out and gather it from the ground. They made flour by grinding it with hand mills or pounding it in mortars. Then they boiled it in a pot and made it into flat cakes. These cakes tasted like pastries baked with olive oil.

Introduction: Sitting in the mall waiting for my two daughters Paloma, Chloe and Angela to come out I was sitting on a bench talking to God about the church and this message and this is what He said to me… Worth fighting for? I began to explore that – What in life is worth fighting for? At the end of it all what is worth fighting for? Older man came and sat on a bench and our eyes met – Transition into the video clip.
