Sticker Shock - What is Life Really Worth - Pravin Mahajanluvogt
Establishing the value of life is a problematic exercise at best. A mystery billionaire recently insured himself at $200 million as distinct from his net worth, prompting one to reflect on the monetary value of a life. In this talk, we'll explore various methods used today to put a number to life. But are they correct? In this age of limitless data are we using the right metrics? Are there other ways to measure life, and not just the human one? Should we even try?
This presentation contains all the questions of the SMArt Science Quiz that was organized by Rotaract Club of Shri Jagannath Dham in memory of our beloved friend Vicky and Smart.
Men have a different biological as well as a different psychological constitution from what women have in their mind body system. Although this difference does not transcend the human boundaries, yet it does align with the basic zoological male-female divide. Here are my top 10 health tips for men...

Mindfulness can serve as a powerful tool to create more optimal wellbeing. The very end of the presentation includes a mindfulness meditation that is great for beginners. But before that, we'll quickly cover a few common questions about mindfulness:
* What is mindfulness?
* What are the benefits of mindfulness & mindfulness based practices?
* Is mindfulness just a Buddhist or religious concept?
* How do I practice mindfulness?
We'd like to think people sign up for wellness programs because of something we can control -- like a cool platform, eye-catching incentives, and irresistible marketing. Although these extrinsic factors influence participation to an extent, it's the intrinsic, personal factors that inspire involvement and lasting success.
Valuable to anyone involved in designing or implementing wellness programs, this SlideShare examines misconceptions and uncovers the real reasons people participate. We include 7 ways to inspire your target population through hope -- a major factor.
It doesn’t matter if you’re a developer, a creative, an artist or simply a technogeek, we all create wonderful things and we’re constantly pushing our brains to their limits. Or do we? Our brains are constantly at work, but are they working as efficiently as they can be? In this talk, you will learn out how to help your brain perform optimally, stay focused and increase your mental power during brainstorms, and various creative and logical tasks.
You’ll learn a number of practical techniques that will help you boost your mind’s performance, as well as peek into the science of our brains at work. By the end of the talk, you’ll have powerful knowledge and practical tools at your disposal to help your brain run like a well-oiled machine.
Shared By The Many: Advances in technology are allowing for the provision of affordable, decentralized healthcare for the masses and are lowering the barriers to entry in less developed markets.
The analysis in PSFK’s Future of Health Report has yielded a number of insights, the most evident of which is mobile technology as a catalyst for change. The mobile phone and connected tablet computer are allowing for the distribution of a broad range of medical and support services. This is especially important in countries with little or no healthcare infrastructure and areas in which there are few trained healthcare professionals. These technologies also allow trained professionals to perform quality control remotely.
Amongst the many significant developments is a shift towards one-on-one, in- field diagnostics and monitoring. Services that were once only available at a doctor’s office or hospital are now available on-demand through low-tech, affordable solutions. Personal systems allow for ‘good enough’ diagnostics that would have been difficult, expensive and timely to attain previously.
Using a basic phone with adapted software, a health worker can test for myriad symptoms - even cancer. This information can be relayed to a central medical care center where doctors and trained professionals can react to the data, provide prompt diagnosis and suggest treatment options. The ability to capture this data and get quick responses remotely means better healthcare, fewer trips to the hospital (which, for many means days away from home and family), and less time away from work.
A change is also occurring that is seeing increased access to and sharing of health information. This is made possible by the proliferation of systems designed to overcome infrastructure insufficiencies. these systems are enabling the broadcast of information and receipt of subsequent feedback in virtually any setting. From ‘town crier’ systems to ‘internet by text’, the collective knowledge found on the web is being made available to populations around the world who previously lacked access. The connectivity that is enabling the sharing of health information is also powering the growth of social networks focused on health and medical care. These networks are allowing professionals, health workers and individuals to connect and share knowledge quickly.
PSFK’s Future of Health Report details 15 trends that will impact health and wellness around the world. Simple advances such as off-the-grid energy and the introduction of gaming into healthcare service offerings sit alongside more future-forward developments such as bio-medical printing. It is our hope that this report will inspire your thinking and lead to services, applications and technologies which will allow for more available, quality healthcare.

“An apple a day keeps the doctor away.” Many of us are familiar with this saying and it is certainly a good thing to do! However, it’s not the only thing that you need to do to maintain a healthy life and lifestyle! The ABC’s of Living a Healthy Lifestyle is a fun way to help you focus on obtaining a good health.

Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.
