This document discusses the importance and blessings of generosity. It provides several Bible verses that encourage giving to the poor and sharing what God has provided. It notes that true wealth is not about material possessions but about having a generous spirit. The document outlines different types of givers from spontaneous to strategic to sacrificial. It encourages readers to develop a "generous eye" and consider how they can grow in generosity by sacrificially giving as God has blessed them.
This was a training that I did with new members who were coming onboard with our Ministry Team. The first section uses a Family Systems approach to leadership. At our church we desire that leaders model the culture by three characteristics: (1) Affirmation - which is each member of the Leadership Team is for the success of others. (2) Expectation - Each member of the team has the courage to be realistic concerning the facts of a particular situation but they engage it with Hope. (3) Honor - Each member of the team are committed to treating others with dignity, grace, respect, and truth.

Luke 6:38 Give and it will be given to you. Sharing with others. Doing good and showing concern. Doing good without the praise of men. Amount is determined by what you have left after you give. Giving is laying up treasure in heaven.

26 Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless. 27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
Proverbs 29:7New International Version
7 The righteous care about justice for the poor,
but the wicked have no such concern.
Malachi 3:6-12New International VersionBreaking Covenant by Withholding Tithes
6 “I the Lord do not change. So you, the descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed. 7 Ever since the time of your ancestors you have turned away from my decrees and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you,” says the Lord Almighty.
“But you ask, ‘How are we to return?’
8 “Will a mere mortal rob God? Yet you rob me.
“But you ask, ‘How are we robbing you?’
“In tithes and offerings. 9 You are under a curse—your whole nation—because you are robbing me. 10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. 11 I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not drop their fruit before it is ripe,” says the Lord Almighty. 12 “Then all the nations will call you blessed, for yours will be a delightful land,” says the Lord Almighty.
Matthew 6New International VersionGiving to the Needy
6 “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.
2 “So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.Prayer
5 “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Fa ...

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…
3. 9 He who has a generous eye will be
blessed…
Proverbs 22:9 NKJV
4. 9 A generous person will be blessed, for
he shares his food with the poor.
Proverbs 22:9
5. 19 “Don’t collect for yourselves treasures
on earth, where moth and rust destroy
and where thieves break in and steal.
20 But collect for yourselves treasures in
heaven, where neither moth nor rust
destroys, and where thieves don’t break
in and steal. 21 For where your treasure
is, there your heart will be also.
Matthew 6:19-24
6. 22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. If
your eye is good, your whole body will
be full of light. 23 But if your eye is bad,
your whole body will be full of darkness.
So if the light within you is darkness—
how deep is that darkness!
Matthew 6:19-24
7. 24 “No one can be a slave of two masters,
since either he will hate one and love the
other, or be devoted to one and despise
the other. You cannot be slaves of God
and of money.
Matthew 6:19-24
8. 38 Give, and it will be given to you. A
good measure, pressed down, shaken
together and running over, will be
poured into your lap. For with the
measure you use, it will be measured to
you.
Luke 6:38
10. BEING MATERIALLY WEALTHY IS
NOT AN INDICATION WHETHER
GOD LOVES YOU MORE, AND
BEING MATERIALLY POOR IS
NEVER AN INDICATION
WHETHER GOD LOVES YOU LESS.
11. THE AMOUNT OF MONEY THAT
YOU HAVE IN YOUR HANDS DOES
NOT DETERMINE WHETHER YOU
ARE BLESSED OR NOT.
12. A BLESSED LIFE IS
PROPORTIONATE TO THE LEVEL
OF YOUR GENEROSITY.
17. 17 You say, 'I am rich; I have acquired
wealth and do not need a thing.' But you
do not realize that you are wretched,
pitiful, poor, blind and naked.
Revelation 3:17
19. 9 Then Jacob prayed, "…O Lord, who
said to me…I will make you prosper,'
10 I am unworthy of all the kindness and
faithfulness you have shown your
servant.
Genesis 32:9-10
21. 11 You will be made rich in every way so
that you can be generous on every
occasion, and through us your generosity
will result in thanksgiving to God.
2 Corinthians 9:11
22. 10 Now the One who provides seed for
the sower and bread for food will
provide and multiply your seed and
increase the harvest of your
righteousness.
2 Corinthians 9:10
24. 1 “Be careful not to practice your
righteousness in front of people, to be
seen by them. Otherwise, you will have
no reward from your Father in heaven.
2 So whenever you give to the poor…
Matthew 6:1-2
25. 10 Now the One who provides seed for
the sower and bread for food will
provide and multiply your seed and
increase the harvest of your
righteousness.
2 Corinthians 9:10-14
26. 11 You will be enriched in every way for
all generosity, which produces
thanksgiving to God through us. 12 For
the ministry of this service is not only
supplying the needs of the saints, but is
also overflowing in many acts of
thanksgiving to God.
2 Corinthians 9:10-14
27. 13 They will glorify God for your
obedience to the confession of the gospel
of Christ, and for your generosity in
sharing with them and with others
through the proof provided by this
service. 14 And they will have deep
affection for you in their prayers on your
behalf because of the surpassing grace of
God in you.
2 Corinthians 9:10-14
28. 2 "I will make you into a great nation and
I will bless you; I will make your name
great, and you will be a blessing. 3 I will
bless those who bless you, and whoever
curses you I will curse; and all peoples
on earth will be blessed through you."
Genesis 12:2-3
41. 35 The next day he took out two silver
coins and gave them to the innkeeper.
'Look after him,' he said, 'and when I
return, I will reimburse you for any extra
expense you may have.'
Luke 10:35
45. 41 Jesus sat down opposite the place
where the offerings were put and
watched the crowd putting their money
into the temple treasury. Many rich
people threw in large amounts. 42 But a
poor widow came and put in two very
small copper coins, worth only a fraction
of a penny.
Mark 12:41-44
46. 43 Calling his disciples to him, Jesus
said, "I tell you the truth, this poor
widow has put more into the treasury
than all the others. 44 They all gave out
of their wealth; but she, out of her
poverty, put in everything — all she had
to live on."
Mark 12:41-44
