And Saul was consenting unto his death.
And at that time there was a great
persecution against the church which was at
Jerusalem; and they were all scattered
abroad throughout the regions of Judaea
and Samaria, except the apostles.

2 And devout men carried Stephen to his
burial, and made great lamentation over
him. 3 As for Saul, he made havock of the
church, entering into every house, and
haling men and women committed them to
prison.

4 Therefore they that were scattered abroad went
every where preaching the word. 5 Then Philip
went down to the city of Samaria, and preached
Christ unto them. 6 And the people with one
accord gave heed unto those things which Philip
spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he
did.

7 For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice,
came out of many that were possessed with
them: and many taken with palsies, and that
were lame, were healed. 8 And there was
great joy in that city.

9 But there was a certain man, called Simon,
which beforetime in the same city used
sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria,
giving out that himself was some great one:
10 To whom they all gave heed, from the least
to the greatest, saying, This man is the great
power of God.

11 And to him they had regard, because that
of long time he had bewitched them with
sorceries. 12 But when they believed Philip
preaching the things concerning the
kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus
Christ, they were baptized, both men and
women.
8. God has permitted His chosen people to be
persecuted and to go through several
disturbances.
God allows the Church to go through many
difficulties with a greater purpose of His
eternal plan.
10. Vs.4, Therefore they that were scattered
abroad went every where preaching the
Vs.1, And Saul was consenting unto his
death. And at that time there was a great
persecution against the church which was at
Jerusalem; and they were all scattered
throughout the regions of Judaea and
Samaria, except the apostles.
11. They did not just give up and went to their
own houses when trouble came.
They didn't hide away and whine because of
the difficulty they faced!
They pressed forward with the task that had
been assigned to them!
12. II. Be Active In Evangelism
Vs.4 (they)…. went every where preaching
the word.

And we know that all things work
together for good to them that love
God, to them who are the called
according to his purpose.
15. We should be living testimonies of God's
grace to everywhere we go.
We are to be a walking witnesses for Jesus
even in a difficult situation.
16. III. Be a Willing Vessel That
Christ Could Use.
17. Vs.5-7
Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria,
and preached Christ unto them. 6 And the
people with one accord gave heed unto
those things which Philip spake, hearing and
seeing the miracles which he did.

19. A. Have Passion for Souls and
Preach Christ
Vs.5, …. and preached Christ unto them.
21. Vs.9-12
But there was a certain man, called Simon,

sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria,
giving out that himself was some great one:
10 To whom they all gave heed, from the least
to the greatest, saying, This man is the great
power of God.
22. 11 And to him they had regard, because that of
long time he had bewitched them with
sorceries. 12 But when they believed Philip
preaching the things concerning the kingdom
of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they
baptized, both men and women.
23. Simon performed miracles by demonic
power. Philip performed miracles by divine
power.
Simon boasted and welcomed acclaim to
himself, but Philip proclaimed Christ.
People were amazed at Simon’s magic. People
were converted to Christ by Philip’s ministry.
24. We must not forget to acknowledge God in
our lives. We must not take credit for the
things God has done for us. When you
succeed, don’t take credit for it, acknowledge
that it is God who has brought you this far
25. Deuteronomy 8:18
But thou shalt remember the LORD your
God: for it is He that giveth thee power to
get wealth, that He may establish his
covenant which he sware unto your fathers,
as it is this day.
26. VI. Be Excited in the Work
of God
Vs.8, And there was great joy in that city.
27. There is always a great joy when we
are always excited in the ministry!
28. Vs.6
And the people with one accord gave heed
unto those things which Philip spake,…
30. Vs.12
But when they believed Philip preaching the
things concerning the kingdom of God, and
the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized,
both men and women.

5. Be a Part of the Growth of the Church
