  2. 2. Acts 17 1 Now when theyhad passed throughAmphipolis and Apol-lonia, they came to Thes-salonica, where was asynagogue of the Jews: Paul went first to the Jews. Jesus came unto His Own people, and they rejected Him as a nation. Opportunity was still extended. 2
  3. 3. 2-3 And Paul, as his mannerwas, went in unto them, and threeSabbath days reasoned with themout of the Scriptures, opening andalleging, that Christ must needshave suffered, and risen againfrom the dead; and that thisJesus, whom I preach unto you, isChrist. After three Sabbaths, he went to the Gentiles. 3
  4. 4. 4 And some of them believed, and consorted withPaul and Silas; and of the devout Greeks a greatmultitude, and of the chief women not a few. Its our responsibility to get the Gospel out. Some will believe; many will not. 4
  5. 5. 5 But the Jews which believed not, moved withenvy, took unto them certain lewd fellows of thebaser sort, and gathered a company, and set all thecity on an uproar, and assaulted the house ofJason, and sought to bring them out to the people. Apparently Paul was staying with Jason; That opened him to attack. 5
  6. 6. Why were these unbelieving Jews envious? Paul was getting too much attention.4 And some of them (Jews) believed, and consortedwith Paul and Silas; and of the devout Greeks agreat multitude, and of the chief women not a few. They were going to drag Paul out of Jasons house and deliver him to the mob. 6
  7. 7. 6 And when they found them not, they drew Jasonand certain brethren unto the rulers of thecity, crying, These that have turned the worldupside down are come hither also; They had not yet turned the world upside down, but Im sure it seemed that way to these Jews. 7
  8. 8. 7 Whom Jason hath received: and these all docontrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying that thereis another king, one Jesus. When they couldnt get Paul, they took Jason. The Jews hated the rule of the Romans, but they were willing to use them to stop Christianity. 8
  9. 9. 8 And they troubled the people and the rulers of thecity, when they heard these things. 9 And when theyhad taken security of Jason, and of the other, theylet them go. Money to assure that Jason would appear before the rulers with Paul. 9
  10. 10. 10 And the brethrenimmediately sent away Pauland Silas by night untoBerea: who coming thitherwent into the synagogue ofthe Jews. Again, Paul goes to the Jews first. That was his pattern for a long time. But when the majority of Jews rejected the Gospel, he went to the Gentiles. 10
  11. 11. Dont get discouraged! When a person you are concerned for rejects the Gospel, go to many others. 11
  12. 12. We are responsible to tell the Good News of Jesus Christ. We are not responsible for the response people make.Keep on going and keep on telling. 12
