4.  Ruskin Bond had been closely associated with
India right from his birth and lives in Dehradun
presently.
 One of India’s most prolific writers in English,
Ruskin Bond is an Indian author of British
cretin. He is a highly celebrated author with
more then 60 years of writing career.
 He has over 120 titles in print and numerous
awards to his credit to which include the
Sahiya Academy award, The Padma Shri as well
as the Padma Bhushan among others.
 He has many works to his credit like A Face In
The Dark, The Raj, A Season Of Ghost, etc.

5.  The Narrator: He is the main character
and the traveler who
meets a girl in the train.
 The Girl: She is a passenger who travels
with the narrator for a while.
 The fellow passenger: He is the passenger
who makes the narrator realize
that the girl was blind.

8.  Travelling alone for some time, it was a
pleasant change for a writer to have a
company of a young girl.
 As a writer was blind, he could just smell the
fragrance and imagined how the girl looked
like. He enquired where she was going and
she was surprised to hear him as she failed to
notice him.
 Her destination was saharanpur and she was
visiting her aunt while the author was going
to Dehradun and then to mussorie.

9.  As the journey progressed, the author asked
the girl to describe the beauty, which can be
captured through the window.
 The girl wanted the author to see himself.
They spent a lot of time talking about trees,
animals and natural beauty.
 The author complimented the girl for her
interesting face to which she responded very
pleasantly and the author was enjoying her
company a lot because of her voice and
energy.

10.  The train was coming to a halt and the girl
getting ready to get down. He did not want
her to leave and got curious about her
looks, mainly her hair but she got down.
 A new person entered the compartment, he
enquired him how the girl looked and how
she had tied her hair to which this person
replied that he only noticed her eyes, which
were very big and conspicuous, but could
not see.

11.  This is one of the remarkable sentence in

sentence truly reflects the gist of the
story that even with good eyesight, people
do not always see or perceive reality.
 In other words, the theme of the story is
that reality is not what we see, perceive or
believe.
