•To keep the patient in a particular position.
•To observe patient while making the bed.
•To prevent bedsore.

Extra pillows, bed-rails, and accessories

7. PRINCIPLE OF ECONOMY
SYSTEMATIC WAYS OF
FUNCTIONING SAVES TIME,
ENERGY AND MATERIAL.
Assemble articles and arrange
systematically
Arrange them in reverse order of use.
Finish one side of bed then go to
opposite side.
Fold linen properly.

8. PRINCIPLE OF
INDIVIDUALITY
INDIVIDUALITY:
MAINTAIN SELF-RESPECT OF
PATIENT BY TREATING HIM NOT AS A BURDEN BUT
AS A MEMBER OF SOCIETY. MAINTAIN PRIVACY OF
PATIENT AT ALL TIMES EVEN IF THE PATIENT IS
UNCONSCIOUS.

9. GOOD BODY MECHANICS
Practicing good body mechanics maintains
the alignment of the body and prevents
fatigue.

10. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR BED MAKING
Wash hands before and after procedure.
Do not expose patient.
Protect patient from drought and any injury due to fall.
Do not cover patient's face while making bed.
Don't mix clean and soiled linen.
Don't use blanket directly over the patient's skin
except bath blanket.
Don't shake linen.

11.  Don't allow linen to touch yourself or your
