2. When it become visible
• Matariki becomes visible in the predawn sky
looking north east towards the end of May. It
becomes more clearly visible in the following
weeks, rising further towards the south once
the shortest day is past.
3. Celebrating Matariki
Maori new year was a time to remember the
seven sisters and also celebrating new life in the
21st century observing Matariki has become
popular again Heavens –bound kites ,hot air
balloons and fireworks celebrate and help signal
Matariki occasiasion.
4. MATARIKI
Matariki rises on New Zealand's northeast
horizon in May or June. The constellation has
been known to act as a key navigation beacon
for ocean voyagers and as an important signal
for seasonal celebrations.
