4. First generation
computer information-:First
computer were developed in 1822 which
developed Charles babbeg. The first
generation computer used vacuum tubes
for circuitry and magnectic drums. First
generation computer were covered 8 to 10
rooms space and which weight was 10
tones and hard disk weight 5 tones. The
first generation computer were invented for
many purpose but only 5 computer were
made. They used only as a defence, study,
searching and many purpose. The vacuum
tube was developed by lee deforest. The
vacuum tube is a device generally used to
amplify a signal by controlling the
movement of electrons in a evacuated
5. space. First generation computer were very
expensive and using a great deal of
electricity and generate a lot of heat.
Characteristics of 1st
generation
computer-:
They were very costly.
They were less efficiency.
Machine language was used for
programming.
They were based on vacuum tubes.
6. The operating system of the first
generation computer were very slow.
The first generation computer were
unreliable.
They were difficult program and use
They consumed a large amount of
heat.
They heated very soon due to
thousands of vacuum tubes.
They were not reliable.
First generation computer were
required air conditioning.
They were not portable.
They were used only machine
language.
They were not versatile and less
accurate.
9. They used transistor chip.
Transistor replace on vacuum tubes
and ushered in the second generation
computer. The transistor was invented
in 1947 but did not see widespread
use in computer until the late 1950s.
The transistor was far better to the
vacuum tube, allowing computer to
become smaller, faster, cheaper, more
10. energy and efficiency and more
reliable than their first generation
computer. Through the transistor solve
generate a lot of heat problem. It was
a vast improvement over the vacuum
tubes. High level language were also
beginning developed at this time.
Characteristics of 2nd
generation computer-:
Second generation computer were
based on transistor technology.
11. Second generation computer were
smaller as compared to the first
generation computer.
Second generation computer was
reduced to microsecond from
millisecond.
Second generation computer were
more portable and generated less
amount of heat.
Second generation computer only
used assembly language program.
They were less expensive as compared
to first generation computer.
13. They were only used for specific
purpose.
They were costly.
Second generation computer was
commercial production was difficult.
Punch card were used for input.
14. 3rd
generation computer
information-:
Third generation computer was also
developed in 1965s to 1975s.
Transistor were miniaturized and
placed on silicon chips. Silicon chips
were also called as semiconductors,
which drastically increased the speed
and efficiency of computer. Instead of
punched card print outs, user
interacted with third generation
computer through keyboard and
monitors and interfaced with an
operating system, which allowed the
device to run many different
applications at one time with a central
program that monitored memory.
15. Characteristics of 3rd
generation computer-:
Third generation computer were very
fast.
Third generation computer was
smaller as compared to 2nd generation
computer.
Third generation computer used less
energy.
It used highly level of programming.
16. It was not required highly maintance
cost.
Limitation of 3rd
generation computer-:
Third generation computer was not
used purpose of business or
commercial.
Third generation computer was not
more space.
17. Third generation computer were not
more reliable.
Fourth generation
computer information-:
Fourth generation computer were
invented in 1971s. Microprocessor brought
the fourth generation computer as
thousand of integrated circuit were built
onto a single silicon chip. What in the
generation filled an entire room could now
fit in the palm of the hand. The intel 4004
chip in developed in 1971, located all the
18. components of the computer form the
central processing unit and memory to
input/output controls-on single chip. IBM
company introduced its first computer for
the home users. Microprocessors also
moved out of the real of desktop computer
and into many areas of life as more and
more everyday products began to use
microprocessors. As these small computer
become more powerful, they linked
together to form networks which eventually
led to the development of the internet.
19. Characteristics of fourth
generation computer-:
The fourth generation computer storage
capacity was very much increased as
compared to third or second generation
computer.
This generation computer were very
user use friendly.
Input output devices were very versatile.
Processing speed was 1 billion
instruction per second.
Past computer comparatively smaller in
size and greater reliability.
Fourth generation computer were
cheaper than third generation
computer.
20. This computer was portable.
This computer were not required air
conditioner.
Limitation of fourth
generation computer-:
This computer high sophisticated
technology was used in them.
Highly skilled staff was required for
manufacturing.
Easy attackby virus on this computer.
21.
22. Fifth generation
computer information-:
In the
fifth generation ,thevlsi technology became
ULSI technology, resulting in the production
of microprocessor chips having ten million
electronic components .the fifth generation
machine are proposed to based on parallel
23. processing hardware and AL software. AL is
an emerging branch in computer science ,
which interprets means and method of
making computers think like human
beings.A number of projects have been
proposed by japan, usaand in Britain to
build fifth generation computers.
24. Main characteristics
of fifth generation are:
Development of natural language
processing.
Advancement in parallel processing.
Advancement in superconductor
technology.
Availability of very powerful computers
at cheaper rates.
