4. Definition of heritage What is or may be inherited; that which belongs to one by reason of birth; inheritance; something passed down to future generations (Australian Government 2010)
5. What is heritage? Heritage can be something you can touch and see but it can also be things you can’t, like music, stories, spoken histories and traditions. It helps us remember where we came from and where we belong. Heritage is all the things that make up our story, tangible and intangible, and as we value them we must protect them.

8. National Heritage List Australia’s list of places with outstanding heritage value to our nation. The List comprises natural, historic and Indigenous places. To qualify, the place must meet one or more statutory criteria.
