2. Problem
Elizabeth Gilbert, author Eat, Pray, Love famously
recounts in a TED talk about her interaction with
American poet Ruth Stone.
Stone made a metaphor that ideas are like the wind
and if one doesn’t write them down, they’ll go away.
Our app aims to capture ideas.

This page shows how ideas come to me.
- #TD are to do’s items
- #HCI correlate to human-computer interaction related ideas
- #Mistakes are things I prefer not to repeat
- #Symptoms are medical conditions are I’d like to keep track of
- Notice that topics are not sorted, nor do they occur at the same time.
The earliest entry on this page is 3:20pm, while the latest one is 10:01pm.
Normally, if I wanted to act on these idea, I would have to have tediously go through my notebook book and manually check what needs to be done.
Instead, what I’ve done is encoded each idea with a hash tag that corresponds to the topic I want to give it.
Our app applies an algorithm so that groups the same idea group together. That way it’s easy to take action on them.
Now I can put all my “To do’s” on my calendar.
I can review “Mistakes” to helps me reflect on what I can do better.
“HCI” helps me keep aggregate ideas so that I can review and evaluate which ones where actually good.
“Symptoms” gives our doctors a timestamp during which my symptoms occurred, so that he or she can make an accurate diagnosis.
iRemember App is awesome!
- Twitter posts are all public.
- Pen and paper is hard to carry around all the time and we can’t search or sort ideas in them.
- Outlook is definitely not cross-platform
