2. Research Project (M.Tech project):
Successfully completed the project “Preparation of Activated Carbon from waste food
packaging polymers” under the guidance of Prof. Abanti Sahoo(asahu@nitrkl.ac.in).
The project included the carbonization of the potato chips package (uncle chips) by
hydrothermal carbonization (for minimizing the evolution of the toxic volatile matter) followed by
activation with strong potassium hydroxide solution. The activated carbon prepared was of
excellent quality with the high adsorption surface area and its applications could be found in
trapping of toxic gases from industrial effluents and from for chromium removal in waste water
treatment.
Awards and Achievements:
 Secured a rank of 568 in GATE examination 2016.
 Was amongst the top 10% of the students who qualified GATE examination 2014. 
 Secured a position among the top ten summer projects of Chemical Engg. Dept.
(2014/2015) batch.  

 A member of the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE). 
 Employed as a subject expert (chemical engineering thermodynamics/ chemistry) for Chegg 
 India Pvt. Ltd. Since 2012  

 Recipient of cash prize 20000 Rupees for academic excellence from Mahagun Mascot Pvt. 
 Ltd. (2012)  

 Secured a runner’s up position in a national level competition on “Innovations applied on the 
PSLVs) organized by ISRO (2009).  
