Everybody has a voice. Whether they use it for their own benefit or for the mere purpose of
helping the public, it is crucial to dispute for what you believe in since it may improve the qualities
of your surroundings thus leading you to not change your perspective of a granted situation. Before
President Obama legalized gay marriage, the LGBT+ society struggled to achieve their
corresponding rights. Meaning, they lacked the permit to get married by court or church; not only
that, but they could not adopt children. However, millions of supporters aided them to acquire the
benefits any heterosexual would posses by utilizing their voice. For that matter, they influenced
others to join their movement, their determination never faded, and they

An important aspect is the entry of the marriage between people of the same sex. This phenomenon
began in the Netherlands in 2001 and spread throughout much of northern Europe, generating great
controversy and debate not only locally but globally. The controversy surrounding homosexual
marriage has been a constant in the panorama of what is considered unfair or discriminatory. In this
sense, we have found public opinion divided between extreme defenders of gay equality and staunch
opponents of this position. however, equal marriage must be legal in order to promote equality,
family stability and freedom of religion. Equal marriage or gay marriage promotes family stability
and non–discrimination in society. In addition, the same–sex marriage is a fundamental constitutional
right for all American citizens guaranteed by the fourteenth amendment, thus exercising the right to
marry. In addition, marriage is one of the most basic human needs, where the LGBT community
exercises equal rights exercised over the law. as it also offers a legal and virtuous option for
homosexuals, that is, they not only favor homosexuals but also society as a whole because it offers
an accommodation to homosexuals without excluding them. as well as, societies that embrace

The impact of same–sex couples is positive and profound. In addition, a series of studies led to the
marriage leading to better physical and mental health, achieving a more positive and legitimate
impact on their families and friends. Moreover, the commitment of the LGBT community to form a
marriage increases considerably, making the marriage stronger and the marriage not weakening. As
well, children are benefited by marriage, giving the feeling of stability and legitimacy for society. In

Essay Assignment #2 The LGBT community in the United States has always had massive difficulty
fitting into our society. For many years they put up with constant mistreatment and other forms of
abuse coming from the those who do not agree with their lifestyle. They have for long advocated for
the acceptance of their existence and punishment for crimes committed against them. One of the
hardest battles the community has had to face was the right to marry in a society that still holds the
values of a traditional relationship which is between a male and female. The struggle was quite
harsh but it all paid off by 2015 when the supreme court granted gay couples the right to marry. This
historical decision did not go without outcry and criticisms. Most of the dissatisfaction came from
those who hold very religious values and beliefs that claims homosexuality is a sin. Religion has
always been a part of the American way of life since the nation's founding and with that
homosexuality has been demonized throughout our society. Now that gay couple possess the legal
rights to have a marriage license, religious companies and/or stores are now denying service to LGBT
couples as they believe it sinful on their behalf to even take part. Many people gay or straight who
fought for gay rights believe these is pure discrimination and that stores should not have the right to
deny service for any customer for any reason. However, this belief is unconstitutional and goes

This issue continues to arise and spark debate year after year and decade after decade however the
facts remain that this issue should simple be answered with a yes due to the fact that all humans
deserve a right to freedom and as such that right to freedom will technically dictate that they will be
given the right to decide any decision they may come across, however on the technical side of
debate the four main theories of morality& religion, ethical naturalism, moral relativism and nihilism
all present a different side and different approach to the issue.
This issue is highly problematic in the sense that a lot of people are wasting time on an issue that
really should not affect the day to day lives of anyone, yet a majority of people still chime in and
create debates against the ideas of gay marriage on the basis of a variety of nonsense that they
choose to follow, In terms of the theories I think I fall into the moral relativism category as I
believe this is a personal choice and anyone should be allowed to make whatever choice they wish,
they should not be affected and prevented from doing so unless it directly leads to damage or harm
to someone else and in the case of gay marriage, it isn't and therefore it would...show more content...

Gay Marriage "Why don't you deviants get some traditional values of your own?!!" says
Anderson. Gay marriage is a big controversial issue everywhere people treat gays like they are not
even human and that is wrong we are all equal. Gay marriage impacts our society big time because
of so many people thinks it is wrong to have a relationship with two men and two women. They
think it should be one woman and one man. Gay marriage should be allowed because they just
wanna show their love for their partner and not be judged on being themselves. People should be
able to be themselves and be able to love and marry who they want. Some people feel like if gays
are allowed to marry, then a lot of people will be turning gay. According to McMillan gay marriage
is an attack towards religion and people of faith. Homosexuals are trying to use the courts and
political power to force people to accept their lifestyle the bible says that only one man and one
woman should marry. The people of faith thinks and feels like gay marriage is going against god
and what he wants for the world. God said everyone is equal, so if the people that are against the
gays are wrong because they are not treating the gays with respect and equality. They also feel like
the gays will go to hell if they have anything to do with the same sex as themselves. The way I feel
is gay marriage is not a threat towards religion and the people of faith, it is just that gay people
wanna have the same rights like everyone

Love is universal for everyone no matter what race, sexual orientation, or religion. However, one
cultural difference that is effected by society is gay marriage. Gay marriage should be viewed as
equal to straight marriage and all over the world be viewed as socially equal. Three things that
prevent gay marriage from being viewed equal are religion, political issues, and stereotyping in
regards to sexual orientation. I have been raised in a gender equal house all my life and this has
influenced me to be the women I am today and allow me to view people as equal no matter what
race, gender, and sexual orientation. These three reasons are why the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual,

One act in particular that President Trump inflicted on the people in the United States was the
"Transgender Military Policy." This policy was approved in late August and will end the recruitment
of transgender individuals into the military. President Donald Trump indicates "Our military must be
focused on decisive and over–whelming victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous
medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail" (Congressional Digest)
President Trump is believes that the transgender military members are a burdened to our forces
because, he does not believe in gay marriage or support the LGBT community as a whole. This
also falls into the indication of republicans vs. democrats. Most republicans do not view gay
marriage as equal to straight marriage. Stereotyping in regards to sexual orientation is continuous
situation people in the LGBT community have to face in day to day life. In my life I have
always grown up with two grandpas, this is socially normal to me because, I was raised to love
people equal no matter what race gender orientation or sexual orientation. Most gay marriages
cannot be open in public without people making comments about how gross that is or how that is
not excepted in today's society. Chimiamanda Adichie indicates that Fide was a new house boy that
came into the family once she tired eight. Adichie's mother described Fide's family as poor

As the society changing, the history of marriage also changes. Marriage is legally recognized
union of two people as partners in a personal relationship, but do those two partners always have to
be a man and a woman? Most people believe that homosexuals should be granted equal rights as
heterosexual couples. Being as an important social issue, same–sex marriage has become a hot topic
of public debates in the recent years. For over the past decade, public support for the same–sex
marriage has quickly risen. The United States is one of over twenty countries that allow gay and
lesbian couples to wed. I believe that same–sex marriage should be legalized in all countries for
several reasons, such as being an issue of equal rights, separation of church and state, no negative
effect on the heterosexual communities, increasing in child adoption, and decreasing divorce and
suicide rates.
First, it can clearly be seen that same–sex marriage is primarily about equality. Everyone has equal
rights and liberties to chase happiness, as long as it does not cause harm to the society, so why
should their freedoms be limits? Why can't someone be able to marry a person they truly love?
Discrimination and banning homosexual couples to get married violates human rights and freedoms.
Laws which against gay marriage deny the First Amendment which states that everyone has freedom
of speech, expression and religion. Sexual determination is an option, so it is how some people can
express themselves.

Gay marriage is a topic that is so often discussed by those with highly diverse opinions. As some
people agree with those of the same sex pursuing marriage, others do not seem to feel the same
way. This fact can apply to individuals as well as entire countries. Several of these individuals and
countries originally agreed with the subject of gay marriage as others were required to be forced due
to the fact that their ban on gay marriage was decided as unconstitutional. Same–sex marriage is a
controversial issue in today's world where some choose to agree with the decision of homosexual
people and some choose to oppose it, all doing so usually for different reasons. Many different
places have many different views on the belief that gay marriage is either right or wrong. In
America, at least 37 states and D.C allow same–sex marriage to take place (NCSL). Within these
states, some were originally okay...show more content...
These individuals, groups, organizations, etc. attempt to reject this idea by finding ways to make it
seem as though the government has contradicted itself. For example, they bring up the point that
marriage is a covenant between a man and a man, not a woman and a woman or a man and a
woman. Through this argument they are trying to make the point that when the government allows
gay marriage to take place they are destructing a moral that has been set in place. Another way they
try to go against the idea of same–sex marriage is by using religion. One of the most frequent
arguments given for this situation is that "it will offend God." When the people who disagree use
this argument, the goal is to hit a personal spot in someone's life in order to make them believe what
they are doing or supporting is wrong. When those who oppose the situation take it to a personal
level it is thought that it will have more of an impact on the argument that is being

On June 26, 2015, the US Supreme Court decided that gay marriage is a privilege ensured by the
US Constitution in every one of the 50 states. Preceding their choice, same–sex marriage was at that
point legitimate and legal in 37 states and Washington, DC, yet was prohibited in the rest of the 13.
US general supposition had moved fundamentally throughout the years, from 27% endorsement of
gay marriage in 1996 to 60% in 2015, according to Gallup. Defenders of legitimate gay marriage
fight that gay marriage bans are discrimination and unfair, and that same–sex couples should be able
to approach every one of the advantages delighted in by different–sex couples. Marriage has
generally been characterized as being between a male and a female, and that marriage is for
procreation, Not for same–sex couples to spend time together. I would agree because children
should always have parents and more humans should be born, to live a happy life but homosexuality
is defeating that purpose. Many people think kids should have both a mother and a father because it
will positively affect the child. Also, Several religions across the world disapprove of same–sex
marriage. Many people across the world believe that marriage is supposed to be for procreation.
Same–sex couples, unfortunately, cannot produce children together biologically. Permitting gay
marriage would just further move the reason of marriage (from creating and bringing up kids to

Ellen DeGeneres, who is a famous TV host, once said, "Do we have to know who's gay and who's

about who you fall in love with and how that person is going to help you expand your life. As the

1986 was when the court first considered the matter in gay marriage with the case of Bowers V

which prove that gay right law was questioned all the way back in the 19centuries. however, they

people wondering just where the law now stands with respect to the right to engage in homosexual
conduct. However, we as the people, need to come together and help them give that right back to
homosexual couples so they could be able to marry and live freely with their spouse. In addition,
gay marriage should be legal in every state because denying some people the option to marry is

Gay marriage is not only gross and disgusting to me,but to almost every person I know. gay
marriage is the problem with America to this day,it causes a great number of society issues in the
whole world,as me being a Christian I can only believe that it should not only be illegal but also
be a sin. Gay marriage has affected my life very much because it makes me very cringe and mad.
Being gay is not cool or satisfying, throughout these years I've noticed how most gay people have
so much hate against America and the military because all they talk about is how America is
horrible the way they treat gay people and how America reacts to it. I don't understand there
option one bit. I believe that gay marriage should not only be illegal but it should be a shame to
show your face. The fact gay marriage stands in America makes me sick. Another thing that ticks
me off about it is the whole gay flag stuff, they want to change the American flag to a rainbow
styled flag because of there believe. That makes it only fair that gay people should not be able to
live in America. It also proved a point got straight people to have the right to tell them to leave the
country when they wanna change the style of the flag. America is formed as a Christian country
and a huge sin is same sex marriage. Therefor America is going against the Bible and basically

From 1934, when gay citizens were rounded up from German occupied countries and sent to

Prehistoric, Barbarian, and Civilized. Among the prehistoric savages, marriage was seen as
unrestricted sexual intercourse within members of a tribe, meaning that every woman belonged to
every man or vice versa. (Evolution). Later, came what were known as Barbarians. Among this
group, the pairing family was created. According to an article from The Intercollegiate Review, the
construct of "[T]he pairing family was based on the nuclear pairing of one man with one woman,
with a limitation on inbreeding through creation of the incest taboo." Although, this practice still
often allowed for sisters to be mutual wives of their mutual husband. Finally, what was known as
the "civilized stage of marriage" began to take hold. Civilized marriage was based on the idea of
"...the monogamous family, resting on patriarchal controls and enforced chastity and fidelity among
women, in order to ensure the fathers' lineages." (Evolution). This form of marriage has been
favored, and widely accepted throughout the United States for a great deal of time. From the 1940's
and 50's where the nuclear family was based on ""role differentiation", where wives/mothers took on
the emotional tasks of gratification, warmth and stability, while husbands/fathers focused on
instrumental tasks in the outside world."; to the 1960's and 70's, where marriage "shift[ed] its core

Looking at the recent Supreme Court ruling which approved the legalization of gay marriage in
the United States, establishing a new civil right and handing gay rights advocates a historic victory,
some individuals like William Baude in the New York Times are now wondering if legalized
polygamy may be next, while some like Fredrik Deboer in Politico are already suggesting that it
should be. The truth is that restricting marriage in any form between consenting adults, is absolutely
a violation of human right. Monogamy, Polygamy, and Gay marriage should all be legal. People
deserve a right to marry with whomever they so choose. Cheating has never solved the problem, and
cheating will never solve the problem.
According to an article published on Sun Magazine, "sex researcher Shere Hite in a 1991 study
found that 70 percent of married women have cheated on their partners; a 1993 follow–up study
found that 72 percent of married men have as well. According to 2004 University of Chicago Study,
25 percent of married men have had at least one extramarital affair. And with more than 12 million
members looking for extramarital intimacy on Web sites like ashleymadison.com" (Legalize
Polygamy).
The definition of marriage is plastic, but Polygamy can be defined as marriage in which a spouse
of either sex may have more than one mate at the same time. It is the act of being in a marriage
relationship with multiple spouses, which is supposed to have more than one husband or wife at a
time.

An issue I picked is a political issue that is happening today. How has the issue I selected changed
our country? Well the issue I selected was gay marriage. It has changed our country a lot. It had a
huge effect on the country on legalizing it. People have been trying to legalize gay marriage since
May 18, 1970 and it finally got legalized June 26, 2015 all across the country. I'm going to discuss
how legalizing gay marriage changed the country and how it is wrong.
I think it's wrong because God put us on this Earth to love women and to have babies with them.
My opinion on it is disgusting and effects kids who have to get adopted by gay couples. Gay couples

Children have no choice, what if they don't want to grow up witha gay couple? They can't do
anything about it but all I can say is it wouldn't be fair though, if a gay couple couldn't adopt
children because they call this country a "free country" and not letting gay couples adopt children
would be discriminating. But children need a mother and father in their life not people of the same
sex.
Also to continue on that note, the benefits that gay couples should have should be the same as
heterosexual couples. Like I said it's a free country and if the government wouldn't let gay people
do the same thing as normal couples then it would be wrong. The concept of traditional marriage"
has change over time, and the defiition of marriage as always being between one man and one
woman is historically inaccurate.
So that explains my argument on Gay marriage and how I think it is wrong and disgusting but
people have rights. It's a free country and people can do what they want to do and nobody can
stop it. So, this issue has effected our country because it disgust some people in the world, doesn't
give children a right if they get adopted on how they have to be raised by gay marriage, but the U.S.
has to deal with it because it's a free

Frank Ocean once said, "I believe that marriage isn't between man and woman, but in between love
and love". For the past couple of years, Gay marriage and the topic of the LGBT community has
been a very controversial topic, especially in America. In the midst of being legalized around the
world entirely, there are many people that disagree with the gay marriage, and the concept of gay
itself. Gay marriage should be a supported idea because it does not affect anyone in anyway and by
supporting it beneficial factors can happen.
Gay marriage in America has finally been legalized in America about two years ago. However the
discrimination emphasized in America, for example seen in media, have not ended, making it
harder for those who are in the LGBT to either come out or even get married. However, because
marriage is a life commitment, two that are in love should have the choice of making their own life,
not others. This goes into the idea that "same–sex couples should have access to the same benefits
enjoyed by heterosexual married couples" ("Gay Marriage"). Although, gay marriage is legal
now, there are some laws and benefits that gay people don't have access too. In addition, marriage
is an internationally accepted idea for all humans, which includes those who are gay, and the
same sex marriage is a civil right. ("Gay Marriage") It is discrimination to disagree on those who
have the right. To add on, Gay marriage does not bring any harm to people as said,"we conclude
that there is no relationship between implementation of same sex marriage or strong or weak same
sex union laws and rates of opposite sex marriage,(Ferro, "Same sex")". Those who claim that gay
marriage is a disturbance have only personal views, and a disliking to the concept. Scientifically it
does not harm anyone, and by understanding the marriage, the world can be a more peaceful place.
Gay marriage can also be beneficial to our society in many different ways. For example, gay
marriage can bring economic beneficials as said, "Big corporations want same–sex couples to be
allowed to marry because they believe gay marriage is good for business. (Solman, "The
Economic") With gay marriage, budget deficits are cut off, therefore bringing

Americans view/ deem to be happiness ont eh standards of the American Dream: the ability to
achieve economic success. A "normalized" family based on American standards encompasses the
idea of marriage and having children. Before the legalization of gay marriage, this "dream" was
generally exclusive to heteronormative couples. Slowly, the acceptance of gay marriage as another
possibility has opened up the "normalized" family structure to include homosexual couples. The
dream is the image of happiness and for those who do not try to achieve it are not deemed happy.

In today's society there are certain stereotypically people that are uninterested in gay or lesbian
marriage. Everyone should have the right to decide on who they would like to marry. Gay marriage
should be legal and a non–punishable offense because it can prevent teenage suicides, more
children will be adopted, and people will not feel like second–class citizens. If humanity was to
acquire gay marriage it would lower and prevent some teen suicides. Most teens are deciding and
revealing what path they are going to take in middle or high school. "The number of suicide attempts
among high school students decreased in states where same–sex marriage was legal. The findings
covered thirty–two states that legalized same–sex marriage from 1999 to 2015" (Willingham). All
kids have a hard time coming out to the world, and it causes them to not feel heard or accepted.
When states make it legal more people that do not support it change their views when they see it is
not different from a normal couple.
Many teens also feel less accepted by the world when it comes to other kids in their school. Students
that do not support others orientation creates a bad environment. "Unsafe school environments
prevent LGBT students from reaching their full academic potential" (Slater). The children have to
feel heard or they will fall into a depression, and will shut out everyone that actually cares about
them. Therefore, "safe spaces for LGBT students" ("LGBT Youth") Which will allow kids to have a
safe space with open minded people near them. With open spaces to tell their true feelings and
having people that understand really helps kids open up more.
Another big thing with teens in this situation is that schools, families, and peers do not know how
to communicate with them about safe dating. "18% of LGBT students had experienced physical
dating violence" ("LGBT Youth"). This proves that society will attack children that are choosing to
love someone they actually have feelings for. When something like this occurs people should
prepare teens for safe sex. "The hostility and homophobia common among their peers and family
members create a need for an array of specialized services, including sex education designed for the

Same–sex marriage allows marriage between man and man or woman and woman. This is an age
old fight between conservatives and democrats. Traditionally marriage has been between man and

Persuasive Essay Gay Marriage

  • 1. Persuasive Gay Marriage Everybody has a voice. Whether they use it for their own benefit or for the mere purpose of helping the public, it is crucial to dispute for what you believe in since it may improve the qualities of your surroundings thus leading you to not change your perspective of a granted situation. Before President Obama legalized gay marriage, the LGBT+ society struggled to achieve their corresponding rights. Meaning, they lacked the permit to get married by court or church; not only that, but they could not adopt children. However, millions of supporters aided them to acquire the benefits any heterosexual would posses by utilizing their voice. For that matter, they influenced others to join their movement, their determination never faded, and they Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Persuasive Essay On Gay Marriage An important aspect is the entry of the marriage between people of the same sex. This phenomenon began in the Netherlands in 2001 and spread throughout much of northern Europe, generating great controversy and debate not only locally but globally. The controversy surrounding homosexual marriage has been a constant in the panorama of what is considered unfair or discriminatory. In this sense, we have found public opinion divided between extreme defenders of gay equality and staunch opponents of this position. however, equal marriage must be legal in order to promote equality, family stability and freedom of religion. Equal marriage or gay marriage promotes family stability and non–discrimination in society. In addition, the same–sex marriage is a fundamental constitutional right for all American citizens guaranteed by the fourteenth amendment, thus exercising the right to marry. In addition, marriage is one of the most basic human needs, where the LGBT community exercises equal rights exercised over the law. as it also offers a legal and virtuous option for homosexuals, that is, they not only favor homosexuals but also society as a whole because it offers an accommodation to homosexuals without excluding them. as well as, societies that embrace human reason, ethics,...show more content... The impact of same–sex couples is positive and profound. In addition, a series of studies led to the marriage leading to better physical and mental health, achieving a more positive and legitimate impact on their families and friends. Moreover, the commitment of the LGBT community to form a marriage increases considerably, making the marriage stronger and the marriage not weakening. As well, children are benefited by marriage, giving the feeling of stability and legitimacy for society. In the same way, it creates a message and a positive and supportive atmosphere about the importance that marriage can Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Persuasive Essay On LGBT Olabode Adimula LLA 201 Essay Assignment #2 The LGBT community in the United States has always had massive difficulty fitting into our society. For many years they put up with constant mistreatment and other forms of abuse coming from the those who do not agree with their lifestyle. They have for long advocated for the acceptance of their existence and punishment for crimes committed against them. One of the hardest battles the community has had to face was the right to marry in a society that still holds the values of a traditional relationship which is between a male and female. The struggle was quite harsh but it all paid off by 2015 when the supreme court granted gay couples the right to marry. This historical decision did not go without outcry and criticisms. Most of the dissatisfaction came from those who hold very religious values and beliefs that claims homosexuality is a sin. Religion has always been a part of the American way of life since the nation's founding and with that homosexuality has been demonized throughout our society. Now that gay couple possess the legal rights to have a marriage license, religious companies and/or stores are now denying service to LGBT couples as they believe it sinful on their behalf to even take part. Many people gay or straight who fought for gay rights believe these is pure discrimination and that stores should not have the right to deny service for any customer for any reason. However, this belief is unconstitutional and goes Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Persuasive Essay On Gay Marriage This issue continues to arise and spark debate year after year and decade after decade however the facts remain that this issue should simple be answered with a yes due to the fact that all humans deserve a right to freedom and as such that right to freedom will technically dictate that they will be given the right to decide any decision they may come across, however on the technical side of debate the four main theories of morality& religion, ethical naturalism, moral relativism and nihilism all present a different side and different approach to the issue. This issue is highly problematic in the sense that a lot of people are wasting time on an issue that really should not affect the day to day lives of anyone, yet a majority of people still chime in and create debates against the ideas of gay marriage on the basis of a variety of nonsense that they choose to follow, In terms of the theories I think I fall into the moral relativism category as I believe this is a personal choice and anyone should be allowed to make whatever choice they wish, they should not be affected and prevented from doing so unless it directly leads to damage or harm to someone else and in the case of gay marriage, it isn't and therefore it would...show more content... Another part to how religion sees gay marriage actually ties into some of the other major theories such as ethical naturalism and moral relativism but it tries to stay as its own voice in the debate, almost unsuccessfully at Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Persuasive Essay On Gay Marriage Gay Marriage "Why don't you deviants get some traditional values of your own?!!" says Anderson. Gay marriage is a big controversial issue everywhere people treat gays like they are not even human and that is wrong we are all equal. Gay marriage impacts our society big time because of so many people thinks it is wrong to have a relationship with two men and two women. They think it should be one woman and one man. Gay marriage should be allowed because they just wanna show their love for their partner and not be judged on being themselves. People should be able to be themselves and be able to love and marry who they want. Some people feel like if gays are allowed to marry, then a lot of people will be turning gay. According to McMillan gay marriage is an attack towards religion and people of faith. Homosexuals are trying to use the courts and political power to force people to accept their lifestyle the bible says that only one man and one woman should marry. The people of faith thinks and feels like gay marriage is going against god and what he wants for the world. God said everyone is equal, so if the people that are against the gays are wrong because they are not treating the gays with respect and equality. They also feel like the gays will go to hell if they have anything to do with the same sex as themselves. The way I feel is gay marriage is not a threat towards religion and the people of faith, it is just that gay people wanna have the same rights like everyone Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Persuasive Essay On Gay Marriage Love is universal for everyone no matter what race, sexual orientation, or religion. However, one cultural difference that is effected by society is gay marriage. Gay marriage should be viewed as equal to straight marriage and all over the world be viewed as socially equal. Three things that prevent gay marriage from being viewed equal are religion, political issues, and stereotyping in regards to sexual orientation. I have been raised in a gender equal house all my life and this has influenced me to be the women I am today and allow me to view people as equal no matter what race, gender, and sexual orientation. These three reasons are why the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender) are not accepted into society, but they should be...show more content... One act in particular that President Trump inflicted on the people in the United States was the "Transgender Military Policy." This policy was approved in late August and will end the recruitment of transgender individuals into the military. President Donald Trump indicates "Our military must be focused on decisive and over–whelming victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail" (Congressional Digest) President Trump is believes that the transgender military members are a burdened to our forces because, he does not believe in gay marriage or support the LGBT community as a whole. This also falls into the indication of republicans vs. democrats. Most republicans do not view gay marriage as equal to straight marriage. Stereotyping in regards to sexual orientation is continuous situation people in the LGBT community have to face in day to day life. In my life I have always grown up with two grandpas, this is socially normal to me because, I was raised to love people equal no matter what race gender orientation or sexual orientation. Most gay marriages cannot be open in public without people making comments about how gross that is or how that is not excepted in today's society. Chimiamanda Adichie indicates that Fide was a new house boy that came into the family once she tired eight. Adichie's mother described Fide's family as poor Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Persuasive Essay On Same Sex Marriage As the society changing, the history of marriage also changes. Marriage is legally recognized union of two people as partners in a personal relationship, but do those two partners always have to be a man and a woman? Most people believe that homosexuals should be granted equal rights as heterosexual couples. Being as an important social issue, same–sex marriage has become a hot topic of public debates in the recent years. For over the past decade, public support for the same–sex marriage has quickly risen. The United States is one of over twenty countries that allow gay and lesbian couples to wed. I believe that same–sex marriage should be legalized in all countries for several reasons, such as being an issue of equal rights, separation of church and state, no negative effect on the heterosexual communities, increasing in child adoption, and decreasing divorce and suicide rates. First, it can clearly be seen that same–sex marriage is primarily about equality. Everyone has equal rights and liberties to chase happiness, as long as it does not cause harm to the society, so why should their freedoms be limits? Why can't someone be able to marry a person they truly love? Discrimination and banning homosexual couples to get married violates human rights and freedoms. Laws which against gay marriage deny the First Amendment which states that everyone has freedom of speech, expression and religion. Sexual determination is an option, so it is how some people can express themselves. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Persuasive Essay On Gay Marriage Gay marriage is a topic that is so often discussed by those with highly diverse opinions. As some people agree with those of the same sex pursuing marriage, others do not seem to feel the same way. This fact can apply to individuals as well as entire countries. Several of these individuals and countries originally agreed with the subject of gay marriage as others were required to be forced due to the fact that their ban on gay marriage was decided as unconstitutional. Same–sex marriage is a controversial issue in today's world where some choose to agree with the decision of homosexual people and some choose to oppose it, all doing so usually for different reasons. Many different places have many different views on the belief that gay marriage is either right or wrong. In America, at least 37 states and D.C allow same–sex marriage to take place (NCSL). Within these states, some were originally okay...show more content... These individuals, groups, organizations, etc. attempt to reject this idea by finding ways to make it seem as though the government has contradicted itself. For example, they bring up the point that marriage is a covenant between a man and a man, not a woman and a woman or a man and a woman. Through this argument they are trying to make the point that when the government allows gay marriage to take place they are destructing a moral that has been set in place. Another way they try to go against the idea of same–sex marriage is by using religion. One of the most frequent arguments given for this situation is that "it will offend God." When the people who disagree use this argument, the goal is to hit a personal spot in someone's life in order to make them believe what they are doing or supporting is wrong. When those who oppose the situation take it to a personal level it is thought that it will have more of an impact on the argument that is being Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Persuasive Essay On Gay Marriage On June 26, 2015, the US Supreme Court decided that gay marriage is a privilege ensured by the US Constitution in every one of the 50 states. Preceding their choice, same–sex marriage was at that point legitimate and legal in 37 states and Washington, DC, yet was prohibited in the rest of the 13. US general supposition had moved fundamentally throughout the years, from 27% endorsement of gay marriage in 1996 to 60% in 2015, according to Gallup. Defenders of legitimate gay marriage fight that gay marriage bans are discrimination and unfair, and that same–sex couples should be able to approach every one of the advantages delighted in by different–sex couples. Marriage has generally been characterized as being between a male and a female, and that marriage is for procreation, Not for same–sex couples to spend time together. I would agree because children should always have parents and more humans should be born, to live a happy life but homosexuality is defeating that purpose. Many people think kids should have both a mother and a father because it will positively affect the child. Also, Several religions across the world disapprove of same–sex marriage. Many people across the world believe that marriage is supposed to be for procreation. Same–sex couples, unfortunately, cannot produce children together biologically. Permitting gay marriage would just further move the reason of marriage (from creating and bringing up kids to grow up normally). A California Supreme Court Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Persuasive Essay On Gay Marriage Gay Marriage Ellen DeGeneres, who is a famous TV host, once said, "Do we have to know who's gay and who's straight? Can't we just love everybody..." marriage is not about if your straight or gay it really about who you fall in love with and how that person is going to help you expand your life. As the year's pass, America became divided between being for or against gay marriage. The fact that in 1986 was when the court first considered the matter in gay marriage with the case of Bowers V Hardwick, a challenge to Georgia law authorizing criminal penalties for a person guilty of Sodom which prove that gay right law was questioned all the way back in the 19centuries. however, they are two supreme court decisions involving gay marriage, one decade apart, have left a lot of people wondering just where the law now stands with respect to the right to engage in homosexual conduct. However, we as the people, need to come together and help them give that right back to homosexual couples so they could be able to marry and live freely with their spouse. In addition, gay marriage should be legal in every state because denying some people the option to marry is discrimination and create second–class citizens; however, marriage is human rights and same–sex couples can make a better couple. Denying someone the ability to marry whom they love is discrimination and creates the second class of citizen. The law should not have the right to pick and choose who they're Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Persuasive Essay On Gay Marriage Gay marriage is not only gross and disgusting to me,but to almost every person I know. gay marriage is the problem with America to this day,it causes a great number of society issues in the whole world,as me being a Christian I can only believe that it should not only be illegal but also be a sin. Gay marriage has affected my life very much because it makes me very cringe and mad. Being gay is not cool or satisfying, throughout these years I've noticed how most gay people have so much hate against America and the military because all they talk about is how America is horrible the way they treat gay people and how America reacts to it. I don't understand there option one bit. I believe that gay marriage should not only be illegal but it should be a shame to show your face. The fact gay marriage stands in America makes me sick. Another thing that ticks me off about it is the whole gay flag stuff, they want to change the American flag to a rainbow styled flag because of there believe. That makes it only fair that gay people should not be able to live in America. It also proved a point got straight people to have the right to tell them to leave the country when they wanna change the style of the flag. America is formed as a Christian country and a huge sin is same sex marriage. Therefor America is going against the Bible and basically offending America. Tons of kids get bullied every year because "friends" or other people find out that there parents are gay when it's not even Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Persuasive Gay Marriage Gay Marriage Should Have Never Been a Question for America Danielle LaBruzzo Slippery Rock University Gay Marriage Should Have Never Been a Question for America From 1934, when gay citizens were rounded up from German occupied countries and sent to concentration camps; to the summer of 1970, when 200 Chicagoans took to the streets of their city with signs carrying simple messages such as "I am Gay," "Gay is as Good as Straight," and "I Exist!."(Ohio Edu), we as a country have made substantial progress towards the equal rights and dignity of all human beings. Finally, on June 26, 2015, after much anticipation, the White House was lit rainbow in celebration of the Supreme Court's decision to legalize same sex marriage...show more content... Prehistoric, Barbarian, and Civilized. Among the prehistoric savages, marriage was seen as unrestricted sexual intercourse within members of a tribe, meaning that every woman belonged to every man or vice versa. (Evolution). Later, came what were known as Barbarians. Among this group, the pairing family was created. According to an article from The Intercollegiate Review, the construct of "[T]he pairing family was based on the nuclear pairing of one man with one woman, with a limitation on inbreeding through creation of the incest taboo." Although, this practice still often allowed for sisters to be mutual wives of their mutual husband. Finally, what was known as the "civilized stage of marriage" began to take hold. Civilized marriage was based on the idea of "...the monogamous family, resting on patriarchal controls and enforced chastity and fidelity among women, in order to ensure the fathers' lineages." (Evolution). This form of marriage has been favored, and widely accepted throughout the United States for a great deal of time. From the 1940's and 50's where the nuclear family was based on ""role differentiation", where wives/mothers took on the emotional tasks of gratification, warmth and stability, while husbands/fathers focused on instrumental tasks in the outside world."; to the 1960's and 70's, where marriage "shift[ed] its core meaning from "procreation" to "pleasure", and altered the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Persuasive Essay On Gay Marriage Looking at the recent Supreme Court ruling which approved the legalization of gay marriage in the United States, establishing a new civil right and handing gay rights advocates a historic victory, some individuals like William Baude in the New York Times are now wondering if legalized polygamy may be next, while some like Fredrik Deboer in Politico are already suggesting that it should be. The truth is that restricting marriage in any form between consenting adults, is absolutely a violation of human right. Monogamy, Polygamy, and Gay marriage should all be legal. People deserve a right to marry with whomever they so choose. Cheating has never solved the problem, and cheating will never solve the problem. According to an article published on Sun Magazine, "sex researcher Shere Hite in a 1991 study found that 70 percent of married women have cheated on their partners; a 1993 follow–up study found that 72 percent of married men have as well. According to 2004 University of Chicago Study, 25 percent of married men have had at least one extramarital affair. And with more than 12 million members looking for extramarital intimacy on Web sites like ashleymadison.com" (Legalize Polygamy). The definition of marriage is plastic, but Polygamy can be defined as marriage in which a spouse of either sex may have more than one mate at the same time. It is the act of being in a marriage relationship with multiple spouses, which is supposed to have more than one husband or wife at a time. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Gay Marriage Persuasive Speech An issue I picked is a political issue that is happening today. How has the issue I selected changed our country? Well the issue I selected was gay marriage. It has changed our country a lot. It had a huge effect on the country on legalizing it. People have been trying to legalize gay marriage since May 18, 1970 and it finally got legalized June 26, 2015 all across the country. I'm going to discuss how legalizing gay marriage changed the country and how it is wrong. I think it's wrong because God put us on this Earth to love women and to have babies with them. My opinion on it is disgusting and effects kids who have to get adopted by gay couples. Gay couples could effect a kid's life because what if they don't want to have gay parents but...show more content... Children have no choice, what if they don't want to grow up witha gay couple? They can't do anything about it but all I can say is it wouldn't be fair though, if a gay couple couldn't adopt children because they call this country a "free country" and not letting gay couples adopt children would be discriminating. But children need a mother and father in their life not people of the same sex. Also to continue on that note, the benefits that gay couples should have should be the same as heterosexual couples. Like I said it's a free country and if the government wouldn't let gay people do the same thing as normal couples then it would be wrong. The concept of traditional marriage" has change over time, and the defiition of marriage as always being between one man and one woman is historically inaccurate. So that explains my argument on Gay marriage and how I think it is wrong and disgusting but people have rights. It's a free country and people can do what they want to do and nobody can stop it. • 15. Persuasive Essay On Gay Marriage Frank Ocean once said, "I believe that marriage isn't between man and woman, but in between love and love". For the past couple of years, Gay marriage and the topic of the LGBT community has been a very controversial topic, especially in America. In the midst of being legalized around the world entirely, there are many people that disagree with the gay marriage, and the concept of gay itself. Gay marriage should be a supported idea because it does not affect anyone in anyway and by supporting it beneficial factors can happen. Gay marriage in America has finally been legalized in America about two years ago. However the discrimination emphasized in America, for example seen in media, have not ended, making it harder for those who are in the LGBT to either come out or even get married. However, because marriage is a life commitment, two that are in love should have the choice of making their own life, not others. This goes into the idea that "same–sex couples should have access to the same benefits enjoyed by heterosexual married couples" ("Gay Marriage"). Although, gay marriage is legal now, there are some laws and benefits that gay people don't have access too. In addition, marriage is an internationally accepted idea for all humans, which includes those who are gay, and the same sex marriage is a civil right. ("Gay Marriage") It is discrimination to disagree on those who have the right. To add on, Gay marriage does not bring any harm to people as said,"we conclude that there is no relationship between implementation of same sex marriage or strong or weak same sex union laws and rates of opposite sex marriage,(Ferro, "Same sex")". Those who claim that gay marriage is a disturbance have only personal views, and a disliking to the concept. Scientifically it does not harm anyone, and by understanding the marriage, the world can be a more peaceful place. Gay marriage can also be beneficial to our society in many different ways. For example, gay marriage can bring economic beneficials as said, "Big corporations want same–sex couples to be allowed to marry because they believe gay marriage is good for business. (Solman, "The Economic") With gay marriage, budget deficits are cut off, therefore bringing Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Persuasive Essay On Gay Marriage On May 21, 2012, the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People), named same–sex marriage as "one of the key civil rights struggles of our time." Gay marriage has been proven to be a civil right. It's been a struggle for those that support it and those who are against it but, there is a solution to this situation and that solution is allowing same sex couples to get married. People of the same sex should be able to get married all around the U.S. because it is a civil right, it brings in a greater financial gain for the federal, state, and local government, and embraces liberty and equality for all. As a citizen of the United States you are born with the same equal rights as any other individual, therefore the person Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Persuasive Essay On Gay Marriage Americans view/ deem to be happiness ont eh standards of the American Dream: the ability to achieve economic success. A "normalized" family based on American standards encompasses the idea of marriage and having children. Before the legalization of gay marriage, this "dream" was generally exclusive to heteronormative couples. Slowly, the acceptance of gay marriage as another possibility has opened up the "normalized" family structure to include homosexual couples. The dream is the image of happiness and for those who do not try to achieve it are not deemed happy. Those who choose to be included into this structure are more tolerated than others who do not fit in this molded construct. (AHMED W/ marriage and kids) Queer individuals try to replicate a model that can very well have been defined in heteronormative settings and trying to adapt it: performativity. – Rodriguez's "normalized" family and how that ties into the American Dream of happiness. It Gets Better Campaign (Homonormativity): The idea of this campaign came out of a genuine interest to provide LGBTQ+ youth that were bullied the encouragement and hope to keep living. As a byproduct of this campaign, kids were given countless, but almost homogenous stories about the cruelty older LGBTQ+ people faced as teenagers and how they were able to still grow up and achieve. • 18. Persuasive Essay On Gay Marriage In today's society there are certain stereotypically people that are uninterested in gay or lesbian marriage. Everyone should have the right to decide on who they would like to marry. Gay marriage should be legal and a non–punishable offense because it can prevent teenage suicides, more children will be adopted, and people will not feel like second–class citizens. If humanity was to acquire gay marriage it would lower and prevent some teen suicides. Most teens are deciding and revealing what path they are going to take in middle or high school. "The number of suicide attempts among high school students decreased in states where same–sex marriage was legal. The findings covered thirty–two states that legalized same–sex marriage from 1999 to 2015" (Willingham). All kids have a hard time coming out to the world, and it causes them to not feel heard or accepted. When states make it legal more people that do not support it change their views when they see it is not different from a normal couple. Many teens also feel less accepted by the world when it comes to other kids in their school. Students that do not support others orientation creates a bad environment. "Unsafe school environments prevent LGBT students from reaching their full academic potential" (Slater). The children have to feel heard or they will fall into a depression, and will shut out everyone that actually cares about them. Therefore, "safe spaces for LGBT students" ("LGBT Youth") Which will allow kids to have a safe space with open minded people near them. With open spaces to tell their true feelings and having people that understand really helps kids open up more. Another big thing with teens in this situation is that schools, families, and peers do not know how to communicate with them about safe dating. "18% of LGBT students had experienced physical dating violence" ("LGBT Youth"). This proves that society will attack children that are choosing to love someone they actually have feelings for. When something like this occurs people should prepare teens for safe sex. "The hostility and homophobia common among their peers and family members create a need for an array of specialized services, including sex education designed for the needs of gay Get more content on HelpWriting.net
