Never have injustice, discrimination and violence seemed so pertinent than they are today, grossly
emphasized by violent protests, police brutality, hateful speech and brutal discrimination toward
American citizens of all genders, races, religions, sexual orientations, and political ideals. Horrific
circumstances of discrimination and inaccuracy within our system of capital punishment, in
particular, have pulled at America's heartstrings, falsely persuading many to urge the complete
abolishment of capital punishment across the country. Yet, these horrid examples of injustice and
wrong convictions cloud the judgment and reasons of many Americans. In this international issue in
particular, countless Americans believe so thoroughly in their perspectives for or against the issue
that they become convinced their truth is the only truth. However, in order to truly establish under
what circumstances capital punishment ought to be administered, one must attempt to eliminate
bias, and consider each opinion involved. It is then, when all aspects of the death penalty are
considered, it becomes abundantly clear that although the ghastly application of the death penalty
can be inhumane, discriminatory and inaccurate, when the clear distinction between capital

For decades, an age old cultural means of justice has been questioned and debated between its
supporters and protesters. In the last four to five decades though, the ideals of capital punishment
have been brought directly to the forefront of society and put on display for citizens to analyze at
their own will. While both sides have contributed heavily to the conversation, the outcry has been
negative for a majority of the time. While the ideals of capital punishment once benefitted the
sentiments of society, being harsh and reciprocal in the sense of justice, it no longer creates the

of abolitionists, people who want the death penalty abolished. The controversy led to continuous
changes in the legalization of the death penalty in the late 1900's. As noted by Wesley Lowe, a

Capital punishment, which is also known as the death penalty, is the punishment of a crime by
execution. This extreme retribution is reserved for those who have committed heinous, or capital
crimes against society, therefore considered an ongoing threat. Capital punishment was abolished
from the Canadian Criminal Code in 1976. It was substituted with a compulsory life sentence
without possibility of parole for 25 years for all first–degree murders. However capital punishment
is still practiced in over 30 of the 50 states in the USA. Some say that Capital Punishment is an unjust
solution to crime, and others say that it isn't a solution at all, as it is subject to flaws just as any

that it is morally wrong to have capital punishment as a sentence to a crime. People also do believe
that it is morally permissible for a severe crime. Capital punishment is also known as the death
penalty. It can be given as a sentence when somebody is convicted of an extremely violent crime.
The biggest issue that can be seen with this is that somebody could be innocent and sentenced with
the death penalty because of the nature of the crime that they have been accused of even if they
didn't commit it. I believe that there is a moral line between using the death penalty and using other
forms of punishment. Many people use the moral reasoning of an eye for an eye to justify capital
punishment. However this doesn't work because a murderer would be murdered, a robber would
be robbed, a thief would be stolen from, a drug dealer would be sold drugs and so on down the
line for the rest of the infinite number of possible offenses. This doesn't work because most of
them wouldn't care if it was done back to them because they think it morally acceptable to commit
these crimes and that they would just be having something that is morally acceptable done to them.

Although our nation has gotten away from it in recent years, we were founded by those who had
strong religious beliefs. On this note there are several passages in the bible that speak of letting the
punishment fit the crime, hence making the victim whole again. Take, for example, Leviticus
24:19–23. This passage implicitly reads as follows: "19Anyone who maims another shall suffer the

Capital punishment is the lawful infliction of the death penalty, and it has been utilized to punish a
variety of crimes over the years. The penalty of death is reserved for the most serious and heinous
crimes. But some Americans would rather put people in prison for life instead, but how is that fair
to the criminals who did not commit such a horrible crime? Even if the crime committed is much less
than that of murders and rapist, they still get the same punishment. Criminals convicted of murder or
rape should be executed because they are dangerous to the world and the human race. The world
