This document provides instructions for Reflection Essay #2. Students are asked to read the news section of a national newspaper like The Washington Post or The New York Times for three consecutive days. They must then discuss how individuals and groups are depicted in the news in terms of representations of race, gender, class, sexuality, age, ability, and international communities. Students are also prompted to reflect on the experiences of the people shown in the news and how their interests are publicly represented. The essay should be 6-7 pages following APA style guidelines and include copies of the news articles. It will be graded based on incorporation of course concepts, clarity of ideas, formatting, proofreading, and inclusion of newspaper articles.
