5.WELLBEING
“Young children are used to being the centres of attention. Feeling about
self- concept and self-esteem are developing so it is important
that they experience success often”
(Werner, 1994, Pg 40).
PDHPE covers one of
the most important
pedagogies in the
Primary school
curriculum
5. PDHPE also promotes a Healthy and Active lifestyle as well
as an informative unit on child protection and safety. The
World Health Organisation define health as: ‘a state of
complete physical, mental and social well-being and not
merely the absence of disease or infirmity.‘
Through PDHPE a child is able to be provided with a place
where they can work together to protect their health,
whether that is through physical education or Personal
Development and Health lessons. It also allows students
to formulate goals to enhance their participation in
lifelong physical activity.
