1. Hebrews 11:1-2
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the
evidence of things not seen.
For by it the elders obtained a good testimony.
Pastor Samuel Ajayi

2. Biblical faith is “a confident trust in a holy and
sovereign God despite our circumstances”
The ultimate of faith is to get God and not
things
Faith is a gift from God (Ephesians 2:8-9), in
measures (Romans 12:3) and we have
responsibility to grow it (2Thess 1:3-4)
Faith asks, acts and receives the revealed truth
as done
3. NOT
“a way of controlling God to give us what we
want.”
All genuine acts of faith submits to His
sovereign will
4. Natural faith- natural confidence. Matthew
16:3
Saving faith- leads to our salvation. Romans
10:8-13
Active/receiving faith- to receive from God
and experience Gods power Mark 5:30-34
Overcoming faith- empowers us to live
victoriously over temptation, adversity, enemy
1John 5:4-5
5. Sees what God sees. Gen 15:5
Says what God says. Gen 17:5
Answer to whatever He calls you
Submits to the will of God
It is about God and His purpose
Not selfish, covetous- ‘name it and claim it
syndrome’
6. Heb 11:33 who through faith subdued kingdoms,
worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped
the mouths of lions,
Heb 11:34 quenched the violence of fire, escaped
the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made
strong, became valiant in battle, turned to flight the
armies of the aliens.
Heb 11:35 Women received their dead raised to life
again. And others were tortured, not accepting
deliverance, that they might obtain a better
resurrection.
7. What did they obtain?
Abel
Enoch
Abraham
Moses
Rahab
David
Mary
8. An overcoming life
Territories
From our family, work place, neighborhood
To be mighty
Health
Prosperity
9. Faith comes by hearing His word
Feed your faith – The food is the Word
Assured of integrity of the word
Till saturated, affecting your thought,
words and actions
Not as a slogan, but persuasion
10. Exercise your faith- learn to live by your
own faith- Romans 1:17, Hab 2:4
Learn the faithfulness of God in personal
incontrovertible ways.
Acting out His word, even when you recorded
some ‘failures’
Be conscious of the power of the Holy Spirit
in you
11. Walking in Love. Mark 11:23-25; Galatians 5:6
Gal 5:6 (amplified) For [if we are] in Christ Jesus,
neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for
anything, but only faith activated and energized and
expressed and working through love.
Love is greater 1Cor 13:13
12. Mar 11:23 "For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says
to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the
sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes
that those things he says will be done, he will have
whatever he says.
Mar 11:24 "Therefore I say to you, whatever things
you ask when you pray, believe that you receive
them, and you will have them.
Mar 11:25 "And whenever you stand praying, if you
have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your
Father in heaven may also forgive you your
trespasses.
Mar 11:26 "But if you do not forgive, neither will your
Father in heaven forgive your trespasses."
13. Weak faith:
Live only by the senses, feelings
Always looking out for physical endorsement
Always requiring a physical ‘token’
Strong faith: Matthew 8:5-8; 15:21-28
Distance is no barrier
Values the power in the spoken word
Exercised even by common men and women
14. What Abraham did not do:
He did not consider His own body
He did not stagger/waiver
What Abraham did?
Abraham believed what God called Him
Believed contrary to hope
Fully convinced
He believed what God called him, for He
cannot lie
Great/ strong faith. Matthew 8:5-10; 15:21-
28
