2. 2
Do not let Freedom be an Opportunity
for the Flesh
Rom 6:1 What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace
might increase?
Rom 6:18 …and having been freed from sin, you became slaves of
righteousness.
Rom 6:22 But now having been freed from sin and enslaved to God…
1Pet 2:16 Act as free men, and do not use your freedom as a covering
for evil, but use it as bondslaves of God.
Jude 4 For certain persons have crept in unnoticed, those who were
long beforehand marked out for this condemnation, ungodly
persons who turn the grace of our God into licentiousness
and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.
4. 4
1Cor 10:29-33 …why is my freedom judged by another's conscience?
If I partake with thankfulness, why am I slandered
concerning that for which I give thanks?
Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all
to the glory of God.
Give no offense either to Jews or to Greeks or to the
church of God; just as I also please all men in all
things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of the
many, that they may be saved.
James 1:25-27 But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of
liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful
hearer but an effectual doer, this man shall be blessed in
what he does...this is pure and undefiled religion in the
sight of our God and Father, to visit orphans and widows
in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the
world.
Freedom – An Opportunity to Serve Others
5. 5
Rom 8:14-15 For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are
sons of God. For you have not received a spirit of
slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a
spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, "Abba!
Father!"
Rom 8:5-7 For those who are according to the flesh set their minds
on the things of the flesh, but those who are according
to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For the mind set
on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life
and peace, because the mind set on the flesh is hostile
toward God…
God’s Sons are led by the Spirit
Matt 3:17-4:1 …and behold, a voice out of the heavens, saying, “This is
my beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased.”
Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to
be tempted by the devil.

Gen 1:11-12 Then God said, "Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants
yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit after their kind,
with seed in them, on the earth"; and it was so. And the earth
brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed after their
kind, and trees bearing fruit, with seed in them, after their
kind; and God saw that it was good.
A New Creation
Gen 1:28 And God blessed them; and God said to them, "Be fruitful
and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over
the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky, and over
every living thing that moves on the earth."

Matt 4:21
And going on from there He saw
two other brothers, James the
son of Zebedee, and John his
brother, in the boat with
Zebedee their father, mending
their nets; and He called them.
Restoring the fallen – Mending the net
1Cor 1:10-13 Now I exhort you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
that you all agree, and there be no divisions among you, but you be
made complete in the same mind and in the same judgment. For I
have been informed concerning you, my brethren…that there are
quarrels among you. Now I mean this, that each one of you is
saying, "I am of Paul," and "I of Apollos," and "I of Cephas," and "I
of Christ.” Has Christ been divided? Paul was not crucified for you,
was he? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?
12. 12
Bearing Another’s Burden
Rom 15:1-3 Now we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of
those without strength and not just please ourselves.
Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to his
edification.
For even Christ did not please Himself; but as it is written,
"The reproaches of those who reproached you fell upon
Me."
