Nursing Program Success Essay
Nursing Program Success For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to work in the
medical field. From performing imaginary check ups on my community of dolls as a child to
watching medical television shows, being able to enter the workforce with the skills to start a
nursing career has been my most desired goal from a young age. When it comes to achieving that
goal, hard work, dedication, and my lifelong passion for pursuing nursing will get me where I need
to be in order to successfully complete Davenport University's Nursing Program. The expectations
for any nursing student, dedicated and compassionate, is not easily found. A hard worker is made
through the experience of rigorous academic courses, balanced with character building

The opportunity to challenge myself in UCLA's School of nursing, in addition to my own personal
experiences and traits, supply me with a fierce determination to succeed in my academics, in my
nursing career, and in fulfilling my aspirations as a whole.
Foremost, I am drawn to nursing from experiencing the lack of quality healthcare available
throughout society, often to the people who need it the most. Growing up in rural China, I have
witnessed the negative effects of a faulty healthcare system on children, adults, and even a whole
community. I find it appalling that people are suffering and dying from preventable diseases, due to
a lack of access to medical facilities, or when individuals are unable to seek adequate health care

Coming from a family that struggles financially, my parents were frequently absent for work, and
often left me in charge to take care of my sister and brother. From my siblings' birth in January
2006 and May 2008 respectively, I was tasked with feeding, teaching, and caring for them while
my parents were working, on top of managing my own schoolwork. However, I am fulfilled by the
sense of gratitude I receive when I began caring for those who could not care for themselves. In
addition to teaching me patience, this also impels me towards a nursing career where I can fully
utilize my strengths. Furthermore, I gained exposure in healthcare through my internship at
Chapa–De as a dental assistant that began in early November 2016. By working clinically for over
12 hours a week, I gain invaluable exposure and experience by working with a variety of patients
each day. The skills I develop, such as time management, infection control, and patient comfort are
beneficial tools I will wield into my nursing education and career. Although my internship is focused
on the dental aspect of healthcare, I desire to transfer my skills and experience into nursing because
of the higher variety and more holistic aspects of patient care that enthralls me and my neverending
curiosity. Nonetheless, the opportunity to learn each day in this field of healthcare is fascinating,
and only further motivates me

I have always been intrigued in pursuing a career within the medical field. I entered college with the
premeditation of pursuing pharmacy. Ultimately, I became aware that I was more interested in the
biology of the human anatomy than the chemical aspect; thus, I switched my major over to nursing.
Through various volunteering opportunities, I realize my passion lies within interacting and
assisting individuals. This recognition further validates my career choice. In the near future, I hope
to become a nurse who can provide care and assistance for people. Throughout my undergraduate
years, I participate in various volunteering organizations. They are how I found out that my passion
lies in nursing. An organization that I volunteered for was Texas

When I was ten years old, I fractured my femur. I had to stay in the hospital for almost three
weeks. My time at the hospital and afterwards inspired me to pursue a career in the medical field.
During my stay at the hospital, my favorite part was hanging out with the nurses. I remember one
night there I was so bored that one of the nurses came in and juggled for me. After that experience
it inspired me to pursue a career in nursing. I want to be able to help others and provide the kind
of care like the nurses and doctors did for me. All medical careers are important in their own way,
but nursing in my opinion has the greatest responsibility for patient care. I think as a nurse,
compassion is one of the most important skills they can have. Without this skill nurses can't provide
patients with the best care possible. The nursing field has always peaked my interest because of its
versatility. Nursing is available and needed almost everywhere in the world, working with almost
anyone throughout their lifetime. I think this is one of the biggest assets that nursing has.

This internship helped me explore the different careers in the medical field as well as teach me
about patient care. I also interned at my local hospital working in the pathology lab where I got to
study blood and urine samples. This was one of the most interesting internships because it let me
see what happens behind the scenes of our daily lives and how things work at the cellular level.
Because of those internships, I am able to make connections from the classroom to those experiences
allowing for a better understanding of the material

Describe yourself
The youngest in a troubled extended family, I was the first college graduate – with no less than
honors. Nevertheless, despite college career officers' assurances that good grades in my African
Studies major would net the beginnings of health care management job offers from which I could
afford a Master in Public Health degree, they neither offered career nor employment guidance.
Interviews and job offers did not happen. That was the last consequential advice I took without doing
extensive research personally.
I entered the Navy as a critical care nurse, having paid for my education myself, and pursued
additional education credits to become a versatile, deployable, independent practitioner. Qualifying
for nursing took concentration to a whole new level as I carefully mapped out my days to finish an
ASN and BSN. Nursing is exactly what I thought it would be, but receiving an MSN will make new
dreams come true.

my diagnostic foresight and insights, and teach me how to construct inventive health care

New Graduate Nurses Essay
Transitioning from nursing school to working in a hospital setting can be a challenging time for a
new graduate. Due to the nursing shortage, new graduate nurses are being hired with little to no
experience. This is overwhelming for new nurses, especially when they are not getting adequate
support or training from the hospital. The amount of stress, pressure, and lack of training is leading
to a high turnover rate for new graduate nurses. With patient acuity on the rise, new graduate nurses
that are filling these vacancies in the hospitals, need to be competent nurses to provide proper and
safe care to the patients. This article researched the competency of new graduate nurses. "Nursing

Communication includes verbal and written, as well as the ability to document data. One of the
most difficult transitions, and a main stress factor, is the new graduates' ability to communicate
with the physicians. Having the ability to be a leader is a key to success. "To be an effective leader, a
nurse must show collaborative teamwork, which is consistent with AACN core competencies. To
fulfill this competency, new graduates must be able to delegate to others to promote patient safety
and health" (Theisen & Sandau, 2013). Conflict resolution with team members and patients was a
noted as a skill that new graduates lacked. "Several new graduates expressed concern that they were
unprepared to deal with conflict appropriately and professionally" (Theisen & Sandau, 2013). Due to
the lack of experience, new graduates are unfamiliar with the proper ways to deal with conflict
successfully. Mentorship has been an effective way in improving new graduates confidence in
dealing with conflict, because they were guided through real situations. Organization, prioritization,
and time management was another identified problem. The ability to prioritize patient care, which
has a direct effect on patient safety, is a critical component of nursing. "Both new graduates and

Essay On Why I Chose Nursing School
The institution that I have decided to attend is the University of Central Florida. The main reason
why I chose this school was because it will help me save money and I won't need to travel
anywhere to get my degree. Another big reason as to why I chose this school is because they have
many great programs that will help me be better prepared when I begin my career such as their
Modeling, Stimulation, and Training Epicenter which is used to prepare nursing students with
different types of scenarios that they might face while working and also helps them work hands on
rather than watching someone else do the job. UCF was also a good choice because their Medical

This program consists of different types of steps which I will need to begin at Valencia. To get in
the Program I would need to first get accepted to UCF and have an overall GPA of a 3.0 leaving
Valencia. I will also need to complete seven of the eight prerequisites that are required by the
application deadline which are classes that I will need to take before transferring to UCF. The
next step is very important and it is taking the TEAS Exam which I will need to pass with a 78 %
or higher. The big step is applying to the Nursing Program early because many students end up
applying late or towards the end and they are put on the waiting list which takes a long time to
know whether you still have a chance or you will need to apply another time. All nursing students
are also required to take a background test before the deadline and then they will need to complete
some other requirements to get in the BSN Program. These requirements consist of the General
Education Program which is the completion of the AA Degree, Meet the Foreign Language
Admission Requirement and lastly complete the 8th Prerequisite with a passing grade before the
program begins. The length of the that is needed for me to complete my degree at Valencia is 2–3
years. Which will leave me to graduate on April 2017. As soon as I have completed my AA Degree I
will then transfer to UCF and get my BSN ( Bachelors in science of Nursing ) between 2–3

Nursing Student Success Essay
Introduction
There are many ways to measure success. However, nursing students measure their success by
graduating out of the school of his or her choice. Additionally, on the way to success nursing
students' face many challenges that may hinder them effectively completing the nursing program.
This paper discusses two challenges that I have with obtaining success in the nursing program; the
psychological and the physical distress of being a single mother. Furthermore, discusses four
strategies for success in the nursing program; stay organized, study groups, take care of oneself, and
invest in comfortable shoes. Lastly, discuss four example of how I will add those strategies in my
study plan.

Staying organized means becoming familiar with the course schedule and planning times throughout
the day to study and read. Likewise, prioritization of work is important, creating and maintaining
task list and finding a designated place to keep all nursing school supplies decreases the chances of
losing things (Sayles, Shelton, & Powell, 2003).
Study Groups
Study groups are important in increasing the success rates of nursing students. It enable students to
connect with other nursing students, as well as studying together and sharing study habits. Another
advantage of joining or starting a study group is that students are surround by liked minded people
that understand the psychological and physical pressures of nursing school (Anderson, 2016). A
great way to test how well you know a topic is to teach it to someone else, study groups make that
possible.
Take Care of Oneself and Invest in Comfortable Shoes The requirement of nursing school is that
students are fully committed and students tend to forget about taking care of themselves and
investing in comfortable footwear for labs and clinical. According to Anderson (2016) keeping a
healthy eating habit is beneficial for nursing students as they may find themselves pulling
all–nighters and spending endless amount of time in the library. Eating healthy food, sleeping,
exercising regularly and investing in comfortable shoes is

Many kids grow up wanting to be doctors, lawyers, or astronauts. I was one of those many who
wanted to be a doctor and save lives every time I walked into the hospital. Having this mindset
throughout my childhood, and even a semester in college, I soon learned in college that maybe
the traditional MD doctor route was not for me. The realization that I would have to stay in

The obvious answer for why was to treat people. Of course that is a true and valid reason, my
main reasoning for studying nursing is the uniqueness of the processes of the body and the many
treatments that are available for each illness. The body is so complex and even today we still do
not know everything about it. I want to learn as much as I can about treating clients and learn ways
to facilitate a seamless transition from illness to health. Hopefully, as I learn more about the copious
processes and treatments, maybe I can help make a difference in future client's lives by aiding a
doctor's research in new techniques and treatment plans. This seems like a long shot to a lot of
people but, I believe the body still has many secrets that we have yet to discover. Maybe this will be
how I make a difference in the world but, I would also like to make a difference by showing people
how to be capable and proud of your career. My father has never been one for words but, has always
showed us you can be proud of what you do and do it

My inspiration to pursue a lifelong career in nursing derived from witnessing a close individual

point on, I knew exactly the person I aspired to be in the future–a nurse. I was fascinated with

Nursing School Application Essays

  • 1. Nursing Program Success Essay Nursing Program Success For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to work in the medical field. From performing imaginary check ups on my community of dolls as a child to watching medical television shows, being able to enter the workforce with the skills to start a nursing career has been my most desired goal from a young age. When it comes to achieving that goal, hard work, dedication, and my lifelong passion for pursuing nursing will get me where I need to be in order to successfully complete Davenport University's Nursing Program. The expectations for any nursing student, dedicated and compassionate, is not easily found. A hard worker is made through the experience of rigorous academic courses, balanced with character building Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Nursing Application Essay Examples The opportunity to challenge myself in UCLA's School of nursing, in addition to my own personal experiences and traits, supply me with a fierce determination to succeed in my academics, in my nursing career, and in fulfilling my aspirations as a whole. Foremost, I am drawn to nursing from experiencing the lack of quality healthcare available throughout society, often to the people who need it the most. Growing up in rural China, I have witnessed the negative effects of a faulty healthcare system on children, adults, and even a whole community. I find it appalling that people are suffering and dying from preventable diseases, due to a lack of access to medical facilities, or when individuals are unable to seek adequate health care because of...show more content... Coming from a family that struggles financially, my parents were frequently absent for work, and often left me in charge to take care of my sister and brother. From my siblings' birth in January 2006 and May 2008 respectively, I was tasked with feeding, teaching, and caring for them while my parents were working, on top of managing my own schoolwork. However, I am fulfilled by the sense of gratitude I receive when I began caring for those who could not care for themselves. In addition to teaching me patience, this also impels me towards a nursing career where I can fully utilize my strengths. Furthermore, I gained exposure in healthcare through my internship at Chapa–De as a dental assistant that began in early November 2016. By working clinically for over 12 hours a week, I gain invaluable exposure and experience by working with a variety of patients each day. The skills I develop, such as time management, infection control, and patient comfort are beneficial tools I will wield into my nursing education and career. Although my internship is focused on the dental aspect of healthcare, I desire to transfer my skills and experience into nursing because of the higher variety and more holistic aspects of patient care that enthralls me and my neverending curiosity. Nonetheless, the opportunity to learn each day in this field of healthcare is fascinating, and only further motivates me Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Nursing Application Essay I have always been intrigued in pursuing a career within the medical field. I entered college with the premeditation of pursuing pharmacy. Ultimately, I became aware that I was more interested in the biology of the human anatomy than the chemical aspect; thus, I switched my major over to nursing. Through various volunteering opportunities, I realize my passion lies within interacting and assisting individuals. This recognition further validates my career choice. In the near future, I hope to become a nurse who can provide care and assistance for people. Throughout my undergraduate years, I participate in various volunteering organizations. They are how I found out that my passion lies in nursing. An organization that I volunteered for was Texas Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Essay For Nursing Admission When I was ten years old, I fractured my femur. I had to stay in the hospital for almost three weeks. My time at the hospital and afterwards inspired me to pursue a career in the medical field. During my stay at the hospital, my favorite part was hanging out with the nurses. I remember one night there I was so bored that one of the nurses came in and juggled for me. After that experience it inspired me to pursue a career in nursing. I want to be able to help others and provide the kind of care like the nurses and doctors did for me. All medical careers are important in their own way, but nursing in my opinion has the greatest responsibility for patient care. I think as a nurse, compassion is one of the most important skills they can have. Without this skill nurses can't provide patients with the best care possible. The nursing field has always peaked my interest because of its versatility. Nursing is available and needed almost everywhere in the world, working with almost anyone throughout their lifetime. I think this is one of the biggest assets that nursing has. Westminster's College Nursing program interested me because of their small class sizes, their...show more content... This internship helped me explore the different careers in the medical field as well as teach me about patient care. I also interned at my local hospital working in the pathology lab where I got to study blood and urine samples. This was one of the most interesting internships because it let me see what happens behind the scenes of our daily lives and how things work at the cellular level. Because of those internships, I am able to make connections from the classroom to those experiences allowing for a better understanding of the material Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Nurse Specialist Application Essay Describe yourself The youngest in a troubled extended family, I was the first college graduate – with no less than honors. Nevertheless, despite college career officers' assurances that good grades in my African Studies major would net the beginnings of health care management job offers from which I could afford a Master in Public Health degree, they neither offered career nor employment guidance. Interviews and job offers did not happen. That was the last consequential advice I took without doing extensive research personally. I entered the Navy as a critical care nurse, having paid for my education myself, and pursued additional education credits to become a versatile, deployable, independent practitioner. Qualifying for nursing took concentration to a whole new level as I carefully mapped out my days to finish an ASN and BSN. Nursing is exactly what I thought it would be, but receiving an MSN will make new dreams come true. • 7. New Graduate Nurses Essay Transitioning from nursing school to working in a hospital setting can be a challenging time for a new graduate. Due to the nursing shortage, new graduate nurses are being hired with little to no experience. This is overwhelming for new nurses, especially when they are not getting adequate support or training from the hospital. The amount of stress, pressure, and lack of training is leading to a high turnover rate for new graduate nurses. With patient acuity on the rise, new graduate nurses that are filling these vacancies in the hospitals, need to be competent nurses to provide proper and safe care to the patients. This article researched the competency of new graduate nurses. "Nursing competence is not only a professional standard...show more content... Communication includes verbal and written, as well as the ability to document data. One of the most difficult transitions, and a main stress factor, is the new graduates' ability to communicate with the physicians. Having the ability to be a leader is a key to success. "To be an effective leader, a nurse must show collaborative teamwork, which is consistent with AACN core competencies. To fulfill this competency, new graduates must be able to delegate to others to promote patient safety and health" (Theisen & Sandau, 2013). Conflict resolution with team members and patients was a noted as a skill that new graduates lacked. "Several new graduates expressed concern that they were unprepared to deal with conflict appropriately and professionally" (Theisen & Sandau, 2013). Due to the lack of experience, new graduates are unfamiliar with the proper ways to deal with conflict successfully. Mentorship has been an effective way in improving new graduates confidence in dealing with conflict, because they were guided through real situations. Organization, prioritization, and time management was another identified problem. The ability to prioritize patient care, which has a direct effect on patient safety, is a critical component of nursing. "Both new graduates and employers have Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Essay On Why I Chose Nursing School The institution that I have decided to attend is the University of Central Florida. The main reason why I chose this school was because it will help me save money and I won't need to travel anywhere to get my degree. Another big reason as to why I chose this school is because they have many great programs that will help me be better prepared when I begin my career such as their Modeling, Stimulation, and Training Epicenter which is used to prepare nursing students with different types of scenarios that they might face while working and also helps them work hands on rather than watching someone else do the job. My determination to pursue a PhD degree stems from my passion to empower the global nursing profession in general and that of Saudi Arabia. This passion guides my long–term career goal to establish a nationally recognized NP program in Saudi Arabia. Although the nursing profession has improved in recent years, it still falls short in the advanced nursing program. In Saudi Arabia only magnet hospitals have witnessed the positive impact of the training and recruiting of specialized advanced nurses. However, NPs are not accredited at the national level. • 12. Sample Nursing Admission Essay Many kids grow up wanting to be doctors, lawyers, or astronauts. I was one of those many who wanted to be a doctor and save lives every time I walked into the hospital. Having this mindset throughout my childhood, and even a semester in college, I soon learned in college that maybe the traditional MD doctor route was not for me. The realization that I would have to stay in school for close to, or more than, 8 consecutive years before I could make money, provide for myself, or help others, medically, worried me. I was never truly thinking about my future until college and that is why I was worried, I had no clue if I could even make it 8+ years, financially or mentally. So, my thoughts quickly transitioned to nursing because I would be able to get out of school with a BSN and start working. Then, I can...show more content... The obvious answer for why was to treat people. Of course that is a true and valid reason, my main reasoning for studying nursing is the uniqueness of the processes of the body and the many treatments that are available for each illness. The body is so complex and even today we still do not know everything about it. I want to learn as much as I can about treating clients and learn ways to facilitate a seamless transition from illness to health. Hopefully, as I learn more about the copious processes and treatments, maybe I can help make a difference in future client's lives by aiding a doctor's research in new techniques and treatment plans. This seems like a long shot to a lot of people but, I believe the body still has many secrets that we have yet to discover. Maybe this will be how I make a difference in the world but, I would also like to make a difference by showing people how to be capable and proud of your career. My father has never been one for words but, has always showed us you can be proud of what you do and do it Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 15. Nursing Personal Statement My inspiration to pursue a lifelong career in nursing derived from witnessing a close individual succumb to a painful and chronic disease when I was the tender age of 6. I pondered and researched endlessly on the symptoms and damage caused by that disease until I comprehended its origin and everlasting effects. The memory of witnessing that individual die will continue to plague my memories and serve as a reminder of why I continue to strive for my goals today. From that point on, I knew exactly the person I aspired to be in the future–a nurse. I was fascinated with acquiring knowledge about the human body and diseases.
