A three-year-old girl in Maryland was killed by a garage door when it struck her on the back.
According to an April 6 report by ABC News, an adult in the house arrived within minutes of hearing
the garage door. Unfortunately, it was too late.
It is believed that the little girl went into the garage and was playing with the garage door's
controller. The garage door pinned her down and she wasn't able to get out from under it.
Many garage doors have a safety feature that keeps it from closing on something that is under it. At
the time of publication, it was unknown if this specific garage door had such a safety feature or if
that feature wasn't working properly.
"When I heard about this, I checked my http://goo.gl/qtVjpl garage door opener," Zoe Duncan, from
Oklahoma City, said. "Ours won't close on something. I hope others check too. It can save lives,
especially in homes with kids."
An autopsy has been scheduled to find the exact cause of death. It appears that the

reveal if that assumption is correct. At the time of publication, foul play is not suspected.
