WHAT IT IS Social Media site built on a one-to-many model Broadcast to an unlimited audience with a webcam and internet connection Founded in 2006 by John Ham and Brad Hunstable with Dr. GyulaFeher Went live in March 2007 First pay-per-view event in February 2010 Built Watershed for businesses; pay-as-you-go payment model
WHO ARE ITS USERS 30% of users from USA, 24.1% from Japan Mostly single men under the age of 35 About 15,000 users daily Used for variety of purposes ,[object Object]
Conferences and business training sessions
Movie premieres (e.g. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse)
Concerts (e.g. Hannah Montana red carpet footage)
Political events (e.g. Presidential inauguration),[object Object]
WHAT PROBLEMS IT FACES Copyright material uploaded on Ustream Sued by Square Ring, Inc. in 2009 for streaming pay-per-view boxing matches for free A continued problem despite having rules Other problems may include videos of sensitive nature/inappropriate content being uploaded
