 Air Classifier Mill(ACM)
o Developed mathematical models for analyzing the detailed phenomena of classification and
grinding.
o Developed detailed ODE and response surface model for the out PSD w.r.t. model parameters.
o Predicted the optimal model parameter values for the predicting the plant PSD values.
o Studied the effect of the various processing conditions on the output PSD’s.
o Developed and predicted the optimal processing conditions (air flowrates, milling and classifying
speeds) for higher feed rates.
 Flash dryer
o Developed the detailed mathematical modeling of burner, heat exchanger and drying phenomena
in flash drying system.
o Predicted the amount of natural gas, fresh air and hot air required w.r.t. the feed rate for different
natural gas to fresh air ratio to maintain the low moisture content.
o Suggested the actual amount of natural gas, fresh air and hot air required for higher feed rate.
o Suggested the change of metallurgy when the operating temperature increases.
 Crystallization
o Developed the linear optimization algorithm for prediction of the standard enthalpy of the various
zeolites based on the elements presents in the zeolites.
 Silica Gel washing
o Developed detailed mass balance modeling for the prediction of the composition and flow rates of
each streams.

o Developed the mathematical models for analyzing the fluid flow of gel and solvent in the column.

 Gasifier Modeling
o Developed a generalized thermodynamic model for gasification model to reduce the 6 number of
input parameters (fuel composition, air/oxygen, steam, CO2 and gasification temperature) into 3
no. of parameters (ROC, T, H/C of fuel) using Aspen Plus and Matlab.
 CFD based Multiphase modeling of ladle
o Developed 3D two and three phase mathematucal model to study how the desulfurization and
inclusion removal happens at the interface.
o Studied the effect of different processing conditions on De-S, Nitrogen Pickup and inclusion
removal.
 Multiphase modeling of ladle
o Developed a mathematical model to study thermal stratification in ladle using Matlab.
o Developed a model that predicts the steel temperature, composition and inclusion number density
using simple materials and energy balance equations, and auxiliary equations using Matlab and
Fortran.
o Developed inclusion population balance model during ladle treatment using Fortran.
o Developed a robust reduced order equations for temperature, composition and inclusion number
for ladle operations.
o Developed compromise Decision Support Problem (cDSP) template to explore the ladle
processing space like purging, arcing, processing time, holding time and teeming time to meet the
conflicting requirements and determine a robust solution.
 Thermodynamic Modeling of Slag/Steel interaction
Inclusions are foreign materials trapped at steel-slag interface that affect the properties of steel.
o Developed thermodynamic model for desulfurization, deoxidation reactions between steel/slag
interface.
o Developed Response Surface Model (RSM) equations to study the effect of oxygen and
aluminium composition of steel, different slag composition and temperature on inclusion
formation and efficiency of oxygen removal using Thermo-Calc using Taguchi Design of
Experiments for tools steels.
o Developed a model which predicts the type and its composition of inclusion during steel making
process based on kinetics.
 Inclusion Removal at Slag/Steel interface
o Developing C++ code for nucleation of inclusions.
o Developed Matlab code for removal of inclusions at Steel/Slag interface using force balance.
o Developed C++ code for inclusion growth and removal by accounting for collision, floatation
mechanisms.
 Prediction of steel properties
o Developed a model for the prediction of steel properties using thermodynamics during casting
process (solidification process) using Thermo-Calc and TQ interface (fortran).
o Developed a model for prediction of liquidus, solidus temperature of multi component steel using
thermodynamic modelling and developed a correlations for predicting the liquidus, solidus
temperature with respect to composition of steels.
 Mathematical Modeling Tundish
In order to produce clean and high quality of steel, the flow modifiers and their influence on inclusion
separation and floatation are important aspects in design of tundish.
o Developed CFD based model for tundish and carried out Residence Time Distribution (RTD)
studies with various configurations and various process parameters using Ansys-CFX.

o Developed CFD based model for tundish and carried out particle tracking method to trace the
inclusion flow inside the tundish with various configurations and various process parameters
using Ansys-CFX.
o Developed robust reduced order physics based model for tundish.
o Developed a compromise Decision Support Problem (cDSP) template to explore the design space
for tundish to meet the conflicting requirements and determine a robust solution.
 Determination robust design set points for production of steel slab
o Developed Reduced ordered equations for Ladle furnace process, tundish and Continuous casting
process.
o Developed integrated Ladle, tundish and caster cDSP based model to predict the robust solution
to achieve the required grade of steel slab.
o Developed IDEM based optimization techniques to predict the robust solutions.
 Prediction of Machine Health of Caster
o Developed FFT calculations for mold level fluctuations in caster using Matlab.
o Developed 2-point statistics and PCA analysis on mold level fluctuations, stopper position to get
machine health condition of caster.
 Information related to platform developed
o Prepared and presented various information required for user interface prospective to team for
developing the platform.
o Developed the automation codes for the simulations through the UI.
o Participated various times in testing the platform for various diversity problems.

M. Tech Project (2010-2011):
Thermodynamic Modeling and Simulation of Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC)
Sponsored by: Korea Institute of Science and Technology, Korea.
 Developed equilibrium based model for gasifier and Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC)
using MATLAB and Aspen Plus.
 Studied the effect of oxygen factor, moisture content, steam amount and air preheating temperature on
the performance of gasifier and IGCC power plant and suggested best optimal input conditions for
obtaining maximum power based on thermodynamic model.
 Developed generalized analysis of gasifier performance for any fuel or combination of fuels.
 Developed thermodynamic modeling of Plasma enhanced gasifier, Gas Engine and IPEGCC.
B. Tech Project (Dec. 2008 – May 2009):
Application of residue curve maps in distillation column using ASPEN Plus.
 Studied the separation of Acetone-Chloroform mixture by choosing different entrainers.

Ltd., Chennai Projects  Air Classifier Mill(ACM) o Developed mathematical models for analyzing the detailed phenomena of classification and grinding. o Developed detailed ODE and response surface model for the out PSD w.r.t. model parameters. o Predicted the optimal model parameter values for the predicting the plant PSD values. o Studied the effect of the various processing conditions on the output PSD’s. o Developed and predicted the optimal processing conditions (air flowrates, milling and classifying speeds) for higher feed rates.  Flash dryer o Developed the detailed mathematical modeling of burner, heat exchanger and drying phenomena in flash drying system. o Predicted the amount of natural gas, fresh air and hot air required w.r.t. the feed rate for different natural gas to fresh air ratio to maintain the low moisture content. o Suggested the actual amount of natural gas, fresh air and hot air required for higher feed rate. o Suggested the change of metallurgy when the operating temperature increases.  Crystallization o Developed the linear optimization algorithm for prediction of the standard enthalpy of the various zeolites based on the elements presents in the zeolites.  Silica Gel washing o Developed detailed mass balance modeling for the prediction of the composition and flow rates of each streams.

Systems Engineer (Researcher) Aug 2011 - October 2014 Tata Research Development and Design Center (TRDDC), Pune. Projects  Gasifier Modeling o Developed a generalized thermodynamic model for gasification model to reduce the 6 number of input parameters (fuel composition, air/oxygen, steam, CO2 and gasification temperature) into 3 no. of parameters (ROC, T, H/C of fuel) using Aspen Plus and Matlab.  CFD based Multiphase modeling of ladle o Developed 3D two and three phase mathematucal model to study how the desulfurization and inclusion removal happens at the interface. o Studied the effect of different processing conditions on De-S, Nitrogen Pickup and inclusion removal.  Multiphase modeling of ladle o Developed a mathematical model to study thermal stratification in ladle using Matlab. o Developed a model that predicts the steel temperature, composition and inclusion number density using simple materials and energy balance equations, and auxiliary equations using Matlab and Fortran. o Developed inclusion population balance model during ladle treatment using Fortran. o Developed a robust reduced order equations for temperature, composition and inclusion number for ladle operations. o Developed compromise Decision Support Problem (cDSP) template to explore the ladle processing space like purging, arcing, processing time, holding time and teeming time to meet the conflicting requirements and determine a robust solution.  Thermodynamic Modeling of Slag/Steel interaction Inclusions are foreign materials trapped at steel-slag interface that affect the properties of steel. o Developed thermodynamic model for desulfurization, deoxidation reactions between steel/slag interface. o Developed Response Surface Model (RSM) equations to study the effect of oxygen and aluminium composition of steel, different slag composition and temperature on inclusion formation and efficiency of oxygen removal using Thermo-Calc using Taguchi Design of Experiments for tools steels. o Developed a model which predicts the type and its composition of inclusion during steel making process based on kinetics.  Inclusion Removal at Slag/Steel interface o Developing C++ code for nucleation of inclusions. o Developed Matlab code for removal of inclusions at Steel/Slag interface using force balance. o Developed C++ code for inclusion growth and removal by accounting for collision, floatation mechanisms.  Prediction of steel properties o Developed a model for the prediction of steel properties using thermodynamics during casting process (solidification process) using Thermo-Calc and TQ interface (fortran). o Developed a model for prediction of liquidus, solidus temperature of multi component steel using thermodynamic modelling and developed a correlations for predicting the liquidus, solidus temperature with respect to composition of steels.  Mathematical Modeling Tundish In order to produce clean and high quality of steel, the flow modifiers and their influence on inclusion separation and floatation are important aspects in design of tundish. o Developed CFD based model for tundish and carried out Residence Time Distribution (RTD) studies with various configurations and various process parameters using Ansys-CFX.

Ravikiran Anapagaddi (rkiranmat@gmail.com) Page 3 o Developed CFD based model for tundish and carried out particle tracking method to trace the inclusion flow inside the tundish with various configurations and various process parameters using Ansys-CFX. o Developed robust reduced order physics based model for tundish. o Developed a compromise Decision Support Problem (cDSP) template to explore the design space for tundish to meet the conflicting requirements and determine a robust solution.  Determination robust design set points for production of steel slab o Developed Reduced ordered equations for Ladle furnace process, tundish and Continuous casting process. o Developed integrated Ladle, tundish and caster cDSP based model to predict the robust solution to achieve the required grade of steel slab. o Developed IDEM based optimization techniques to predict the robust solutions.  Prediction of Machine Health of Caster o Developed FFT calculations for mold level fluctuations in caster using Matlab. o Developed 2-point statistics and PCA analysis on mold level fluctuations, stopper position to get machine health condition of caster.  Information related to platform developed o Prepared and presented various information required for user interface prospective to team for developing the platform. o Developed the automation codes for the simulations through the UI. o Participated various times in testing the platform for various diversity problems. Tech Project (2010-2011): Thermodynamic Modeling and Simulation of Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) Sponsored by: Korea Institute of Science and Technology, Korea.  Developed equilibrium based model for gasifier and Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) using MATLAB and Aspen Plus.  Studied the effect of oxygen factor, moisture content, steam amount and air preheating temperature on the performance of gasifier and IGCC power plant and suggested best optimal input conditions for obtaining maximum power based on thermodynamic model.  Developed generalized analysis of gasifier performance for any fuel or combination of fuels.  Developed thermodynamic modeling of Plasma enhanced gasifier, Gas Engine and IPEGCC.
