The Malaysian Institute of Accountants (“MIA”) together with Sunway TES Sdn Bhd (“Sunway TES”) had in 2013 organised the inaugural MIA Sunway TES Accounting Quiz 2013 (“AQ2013”) which was open to all Form 4 and Form 5 students in Selangor, Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.
This year, for the Accounting Quiz 2014 (“AQ 2014”), the competition is open to all Form 4 and Form 5 students throughout Malaysia and not just limited to Selangor, Selangor, Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.
4. Quiz Structure
Competition Levels
• Qualifying Round (QR) - School Level Selection
• All registrations are ONLINE. Students just need to form their own team of 4
students each. At this level, there is no limit in the number of teams that a school
may have.
• Each team member have to sit for the Online Qualifying Test. The test consists of
50 MCQ questions and they are given 30 minutes to complete the test.
• Only the TOP 2 Teams (i.e. the total marks of the 4 members) from each school will
be selected to compete in the National Champion Competition : Preliminary
Round.
5. Quiz Structure
• Preliminary Round (PR)
• A test of 50 MCQs for each team member to complete in 30 mins.
• The TOP 50% (i.e. 50% of the total number of teams in the PR) will be selected based
on the teams’ total marks to proceed to the Quarter Final Round.
• Quarter Final Round (QF)
• A test of 50 MCQs for each team member to complete in 30 mins.
• The TOP 50% (i.e. 50% of total number of teams in the QF) will be selected based on
the teams’ total marks to proceed to the Semi Final Round.

• A test of 50 MCQs for each team member to complete in 30 mins.
• ONLY the TOP 10 Teams will be selected based on the teams’ total marks to proceed
to the Final Round.

• The selected 10 teams will be competing for the National Championship.
• In this round, there are three (3) stages.
• The TOP 5 Teams with the highest total points in Stage 1 and Stage 2 will proceed to
Stage 3.

• Stage 1:
• Rapid Answer
The teams will be tested in speed answering. They have to answer a number of
questions within a given duration. Points will be deducted for any wrong
answer given.
• Stage 2:
• Questions Selection for Opponent Teams
Each team is allow to select the question number for their opponent team. Any
wrong answer, marks will be deducted. This stage will runs for 2 round.
• The Top 5 Teams with the highest total points in Stage 1 & 2 will be selected to
compete to be the Champion of NAQ2014 in Stage 3.

• Final (LIVE)
• Stage 3
• Push Buzz Button (2 round)
The team will also be tested on the speed by pushing the buzz button to
answer the question. Any wrong answer, marks will be deducted. This stage
will runs for 2 round.
• The total marks in Stage 3 will determine the Champion, 1st Runner-up and 2nd
Runner-up.
• Should there be a tie in points earned after this round (Push Buzz Button); the
Sudden Death Round will be implemented.
The participants will have to hit the buzzer after the Quiz Master has finished reading
the question, and provide their answer within 15 seconds. The team whose member
answers correctly will automatically become the winner for the round. If the
participant that hits the buzzer fails to provide an accurate answer, the Quiz Master
will open the question for a second attempt and the remaining teams can compete
to win this round.

13. Administrative matters
Travelling Information
Organisers extend financial assistance or pocket money – RM400 per team to all the 10
teams who will be competing in the final on 9 August 2014 at Sunway College, Petaling
Jaya.
In addition to above, those coming from outside Klang Valley – Accomodation or lodging
will be made available. Travelling expenses for each team (4 students + 1 teacher) wil be
supported by the organiser.
Dress code
All participants are required to wear school uniform during final.
Scope of questions
A Combination of General knowledge question about Accountancy profession , financial
and commerce issues.
