Impacts of ICTs on Environment of
ISRAEL
Jawad Abid
Mujeeb Sikandar
1
Environmental Problems
 Population is over 7.8 million
 Rapid population growth
 Development trends
 Disposal of Solid Waste
2
Environmental Problems
 Expansion of Industries
 Steep rise in automobile
 responsibilities of government..
3
Recycling
 Process of changing waste materials into new products
 ICT enabled Israel to monitor, analyze and replace physical
system
 ICT enabled too many barriers
Three steps to avoid litters
 Reduce
 Reuse
 Recycle
4
Energy Conservation
 It refers to reducing energy consumption
 Israel adopt solar technologies
 They are struggling to develop various solutions
 Promote new technologies to fulfill their demands
5
Rural development
 Improving the quality of life in scattered areas
 Using ICT, Israel introduce new technologies
 ICT plays significant role in combating rural & urban poverty
 There is a plan in Israel for rural development
6
Environmental Awareness Campaigns
 To understand the fragility of our environment
 Environmentalism
 Israel’s health & environment ministries
7
Agriculture Service
 Solving agriculture problems through four programs
i. nutrition food safety & quality
ii. animal production & protection
iii. natural resources
iv. crop production & protection
8
SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN PAKISTAN USING PROJECTS GOING
ON IN ISRAEL
9
RECYCLING:
 USE OF PLASTIC BAGS WERE BANNED BUT THIS DECISION WAS ABONDONED
DUE TO RECYCLING PROCESS.
 COMPUTER AID INTLL.(CAI) HAD TOOK AN INITIATIVE TO AWARE PEOPLE OF
RECYCLING DISPOSABLE PROJECTS.
ENERGY CONSERVATION:
 PAKISTAN CAN CONSERVE UPTO 1100MW OF ENERGY IF IT’S INDUSTRIES AND
HOUSEHOLDS CHANGE THEIR BEHAVIOUR.
 IT REQUIRES PROPER LEGISLATION,INTERNATIONAL TREATIES
AND GUIDELINES FOR ENERGY CONSERVATION.
SOLAR POWER PROJECTS:
10
 PAKISTAN HAS SET A TARGET TO ADD 5%
APPROXIMATELY 10,000MW ELECTRICITY
THROUGH RENEWABLE ENERGIES BY THE
YEAR 2030.
 GOVERNMENT AND COMMERCIAL
ORGANIZATIONS SHOULD MAKE A
STRATEGY OF ELECTRICITY LOAD WITH
SOLAR, WIND AND BIO THERMAL ENERGY
METHODS
RURAL DEVELOPMENT:
 PAKISTAN IS AN AGRICULTURE COUNTRY
CONTRIBUTES 21% OF GDP IN ECONOMY OF
PAKISTAN AND 70% IN EXPORTS.
 AGRICULTURE SECTOR GIVES EMPLOYMENT TO 17
MILLION PEOPLE WHICH IS 44% OF TOTAL
LABOURS IN PAKISTAN AND 67% OF PEOPLE FROM
RURAL AREAS.
 WATER AND SANITATION SYSTEMS ARE NOT
WELL-MANAGED IN RURAL AREAS.
11
KEY LESSONS FOR ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION:
12
 IMPROVE WATER QUALITY
 REDUCE AIR POLLUTION
 FORBID DEFORESTATION AND PLANT MORE TREES
 REDUCE VEHICULAR EMISSIONS
 TURN OFF UNWANTED LIGHTS
 STOP WASTING WATER
 FORBID USING PLASTIC BAGS
 CREATE LESS TRASH
 CONSERVE ENERGY BY USING ENERGY SAVERS
 REDUCE TOXICITY BY ELIMINATING MERCURY FROM OUR HOMES
 RECYCLE WASTE
 AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT SHOULD BE IMPROVED
 PHYSICAL CONDITION OF ECOSYSTEM SHOULD BE IMPROVED
 BY FOLLOWING THE FOLLOWING STEPS WE CAN IMPROVE OUR
ENVIRONMENT AND GET A SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT SOCIETY.
CONCLUSION:
14
 SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IS IMPORTANT FOR
EVERY SOCIETY.IT CAN BE ACHIEVED BY MUTUAL
COOPERATION BETWEEN DIFFERENT COUNTRIES OF
THE WORLD.BY IMPROVING ECONOMIC GROWTH,
CONTROL POPULATION SIZE AND IMPROVING
ECOSYSTEM WE CAN ASSURE A BETTER
ENVIRONMENT FOR ALL OF US.IT ALSO ASSURES A
PEACEFUL SOCIETY.
