2. Recovery is the seventh studio album by American rapper Eminem. It was released on June
18, 2010, by Shady Records. Originally planned to be released as Relapse 2, the album was
renamed to Recovery when Eminem found the music of the new album different from its
predecessor. The album contains 19 original songs by Eminem. I think this CD cover appeals
to the teenage genre, between the ages of 16-26.
On the front cover of the CD cover you
can see Eminem walking on the road.
This can be used to represent that he is
on the road back to recovery which ties
in with the title “RECOVERY”.
The portrayal of the calm scenery in the
background are used to make you focus
on the bold subtle blue and black colours
in the fore ground and Eminem's
clothing. It is also used to represent that
Eminem has a long way to go on his road
to recovery.
The red cross that represents a
medical sign. Tying in with the title
called recovery might mean that he
is recovering medically from
something like a drug addiction. The
title is in a bold size 18 font in a Arial
black style.
3. Trouble is the debut album by the Senegalese-American hip hop and R&B singer Akon, released in
2004, June 29th. The album contains Akon's first worldwide hit single, "Lonely", however, the release of
"Locked Up" propelled Akon to sign a record deal. The album performed well in the United Kingdom
where it peaked at number 1 on the UK Album Chart and has reached 2x platinum status in the United
States with 2.8 million sales. The cover of this CD can be seen to appeal to the older generations, this is
evident through the artist’s figure, how Akon looks muscular and built.
The way Akon’s hands are seen to be
folded may represent a religious aspect
towards his album, and could also portray
Akon as a religious being.
The colour of red portrayed in the
background may represent a forceful
power, for e.g fire and blood, this
could show the effectiveness of the
album cover as there is less
emphasises on the red and more on
the actual figure.
The white edgy writing on Akon’s chest may
portray that this album is deer to his
heart, and this is emphasized as is covers most
of his chest. The font can be seen to be
written in an edgy HeatherBTN
style, emphasizing its importance.
4. Doesn't Mean Anything is a song by American recording artist Alicia Keys. It written and
produced by Keys and long- time partner Kerry its lyrics speaking about the importance of
love against materialism and fake needs. The track debuted on September 15, 2009, on
Keys' official website and was released as the album's lead single the following month, It
attained chart success in several territories. The cover of this CD can be seen to appeal to
the more female, younger generations, this may be because the artist appeals to look more
vibrant and fashion oriented.
The use of pink/purple colour on
only these two things on the
cover of the CD, may represent
the artist way of expressing her
feelings through the title of the
CD.
The subtle background
adds emphasis to the main
image on the cover, the
artist.
The white writing emphasized only
on the name of the artist, makes it
stand out from the rest of the CD, so
people are more aware of the artist.
The font is portrayed in a
sleek, classy style, font size 18, this
reflecting the artist.
